  1. My guess is new struts are not sufficient. (Did you use OEM or go aftermarket?) It's the side struts that lift door and keep it open. Purpose of big strut is to start lifting procedure to point where side struts can take over and lift to open.
  2. Service manual says ok to use silicone spray. Don't use anything heavier like chassis grease or it will dry out and gum. I like to wipe my rails down with alcohol to get squeaky clean, then silicone.
  3. There is a top and bottom to the net. Top of net is open, bottom closed. Top loops go into upper connection points attached to side panels. Lower outer loops connect to small "tabs" moulded into back panel. Lower inner connectors connect to steel hoops on floor.

    What's Hanging?

It's known as "obstruction of view", and it's illegal in most (if not all) states. Usually a "tag on" ticket after they stop you for some other stuff. A small Christmas tree air freshener is sufficient to get ticketed.
  5. Several have reported success using an electrical contact cleaner. Trick is knowing where to feed the straw into the latch to hit switch contacts. WD40 worked on my old Sable, but doesnt appear to work on the Edge, MKX. Do a search here in the forums. One fellow posted pictures of where to spray. Another responded his was still good few months later.

Escort Passport Max 2. Little more practical for us leadfooter's
  7. Had this problem with mine after I got it. Settled on ammonia and water mixture followed with a final rinse with distilled water. Think it was a thin layer of plastic film from all the vinyls in the car out gassing in the sun. Bitch to get off with just glass cleaner.
  8. Silly question, but are you absolutely certain that the bulbs are not burned out? (Possibly been out for a while and you just noticed them)? Nine years, just saying....
  9. Personally I would go for it. All it would take is one big failure to run up a bill of a few thousand. I bought the extended warranty when I bought my 09 MKX. So far I've used it twice and the total for replacing the brake booster and a failed vacuum line A (had to pull off all kinds of parts to reach it) would have cost a little over a grand. (Doesn't take much to run up a big bill on a modern SUV). As for the $75 for exterior and exterior lighting, HID problems will blow through the $75 fast. That's an hour's labor. I would say it's a no brainer.
  10. You can have your ford garage turn on your DRL's (through the headlights, not trim lights).
  11. Actually, they stated that any car that can connect to the Internet through the phone is vulnerable. Chrysler engineering worked with them and verified the concept. Hope some irresponsible idiot doesnt figure it out and make it public.
  12. Yes. Forget who but was a parts Mgr for a Ford dealership. Price wasn't really cheap, but much better than local.
  13. Mostly true, but there is one way. I bought OEM Lincoln fobs off Ebay, still sealed in oem plastic. He asked who I bought them from & told him the name of the dealer (that was selling on ebay). Shrugged and told me the price to cut the keys.
  14. Just occurred to me that you are taking about a 15 MKS. I think what you are describing is the BLIS,or Blind Spot Information System. It detects cars, people, etc. on the side of the car in your blind spot.
  15. Oh great. Now we have to have a firewall for our car's head unit. Just seen on CNN, where a Jeep was hacked while driving on the freeway. Two guys spent three years expirmenting on connecting to a car through the Internet. Were able to turn on the radio and wipers and kill the ignition. Apparently Chrysler was in the loop and will develop a patch to the car's code to prevent others from using this method. Article in the 07/21/2015 Wired Magazine (Google "wired.com", lead story.) Can control brakes, transmission, radio, heater, a/c, steering, etc. Fun stuff.
  16. Follow up from yesterday. Ran over to Starbucks last night, remembered your post and thought I'd see if I could detect the sound you described. At higher speeds there is a soft wind sound from the screen. Never noticed it before, more or less expected I would guess. If it really bothers you, I remember seeing a plastic wind defuser held on by magnets. Could try one and see if attenuates the wind sound.
  17. On my 09 MKX, the screen is noisy only when the window is not yet fully open. It actually cuts down on the wind noise dramatically. I would check to see if the screen is opening fully, or if some other part may be responsible for the wind noise.
  18. Just noticed this weekend that my backup sensors were going off when backing up in a heavy rain storm. Apparently they were picking up the reflections from wet pavement in a parking lot. (?)
  19. Glad to hear it's fixed. Wonder if di2013 ever got his fixed? Maybe same cause?
  20. You know what a Hoosier is don't you? It's a family of hillbillies whose car broke down on their way to Michigan. LOL(I'm just south of Goshen).
  21. Short answer is yes, but you will still need to have it programed at the dealer. There are several Ford dealers on Ebay that will sell you a key/FOB combo for MUCH less than your local dealer. I bought two additional key/FOB combos and keep them just in case.
  22. Just noticed yesterday that the new mirror has auto dim on it. Car behind me had brights on (oh, how I love guys like that), & the mirror dimmed automatically (same as the interior mirror). Kind of a light green tint I'm guessing. Original 09 mirror didn't have this.
  23. If you're trying to find the fuse for the power outlet, they are located in the power distribution panel under the hood in the engine compartment. The power outlets are hot at all times. If you're looking to wire your camera so that it power's on with the ignition, you could wire it as I did with my radar detector. I wired a special harness into the back of the rearview mirror (which does switch with the ignition). Bought the harness from Amazon. Do a search for mirror wire power cord (or simular). You will need to select one with the correct power connector. The power cord piggybacks into the mirrors power connector. On the mirror, pin #1 is (+), pin #10 is (-). (Mirror connector is numbered.)
  24. Based on step #6, looks like just cycling the lock is all required to clear the corrosion. Makes me wonder if just locking and unlocking the door several times would be sufficient to clean the contacts?
