Advice with light
enigma-2 replied to remsleep's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Interesting. How would a H9 work in an 09 MKX? (Wouldn't want to throw glare into oncoming traffic ). -
Replacement floor mats (how to combat that Canadian salt?)
enigma-2 replied to roadkill401's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Just don't forget to throw a couple of newspapers on top of the mats to protect them. 'just kidding' LOL. You will find, like the rest of us have, they are the perfect solution to road salt and winter slush. -
Although the multifunction switch is an integral part of the circuit, I would suspect either the wiper motor or the motor connector has corrosion on the terminals. Try operating the washer and see if it works (circuit runs through the motor). If the washer circuit works, pull the motor connector and check for corrosion. If it doesn't work, suspect the motor (contains several electronic components, besides the motor, any of which could be failing. The washer also runs through the same electronics.)

I had a simular problem inasmuch as there was so little clearance. I ended up using a crow's foot socket to apply enough force on the socket to get it to turn. I used a 7/8", fit just tight enough to get a grip on the socket. Made it "much" easier to remove and replace.

RV towing 2015 Ford Edge or Explorer
enigma-2 replied to Margaret Vroman Cook's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I have an 09 MKX and don't know what has changed in the 15. So why are you disconnecting the battery? Owners manual simply states run engine for 5 minutes before towing each day and after 6 hours (to recharge battery).- 9 replies

2013 Tl of all payments:$276x2x12x6= $39,744 Tl of Interest: $276x0.065x2x12= $2,583 2015 Tl of all payments:$290x2x12x7= $48,720 Tl of Interest:$290x0.0299x2x12x7= $1,457 Anyway, as you do a lot of driving, if it were me, I would go for the 2015, with its newer technology and warranty. (Assuming you can afford the extra cost of the payments). Here in Indiana, we would also have to consider the additional cost of 7% sales tax and excise tax imposed on the license plate. Don't know what additional taxes you have to consider up north, but would need to take these into consideration as well.

As the H9 doesn't have a blacked out tip, wouldn't it cause more glare for oncoming traffic? -
All Ford Edges Now on Factory Hold?
enigma-2 replied to xbillmh's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
"all good things ....." -
Been discussed here before. 2007 head unit is not adaptable to incorporate a camera. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/1624-factory-nav-backup-camera-input/ There are still options such as an aftermarket head unit or wire it to a LCD rearview mirror. There is one other option: http://avelectronic.com/NavigationVideo%20Camera%20Interface.html

All Ford Edges Now on Factory Hold?
enigma-2 replied to xbillmh's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
FREDLUKE posted in the Lincoln forum that the QC found problems in a few cars and as a result, all cars produced in that run are placed on hold, pending inspection. There are 7 items (called campaigns), ranging from leaking A pillars, parts fit and finish, things like that. Said 99.25% are fold free of any of these problems, but they are still finding that some cars still have quality issues. http://lincolnmkxforum.com/topic/560-mkx-order-to-delivery-times/page-9?do=findComment&comment=2639 (Last post). -
vibration coming from driver & passenger side under board
enigma-2 replied to gloria's edge's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
On addition, I would also check the axle inner C/V boot to see if it's damaged (loosing grease). -

vibration coming from driver & passenger side under board
enigma-2 replied to gloria's edge's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
How do you notice it? In the steering wheel like a wheel weight? Or does it feel like the engine is shimming side-to-side when accelerating from 35 to 50 like a the inner cv joints? -
On a non-dual system, the blend door should affect both sides equally. As you state it's working properly, there is only one other thing that I can think of as the cause: the heater core is blocked on the drivers side. (Allows full airflow through the core, but no heat to pick up). As a test, consider operating the air conditioner and test whether both sides are equally cold. If they are, it's the heater core. If not, it can only be the fuggey babble. (OK, there is no such thing, I'm out of ideas).

From what I've read, it's either the HVAC control, wiring to actuator, the actuator itself (most common), the linkage, or the blend door. As you have eliminated the actuator, my guess is it's internal (probably a failed door, dealer may have to pull the console).

Breadcrumbs on v3.8 doesn't clear out
enigma-2 replied to drpepper's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Don't mean to be unsympathetic to your problem, but it does seem to be a non-issue. Their use is duvious at best, and they seem to be working as designed. I doubt the locals could program around the distance setting as it's probably written into the software. Like I wrote in a previous message, I used it last summer garage saling in unfamiliar subdivisions. Not much use otherwise. -
Whats capable with motorcraft premium gold 50/50?
enigma-2 replied to brandonraider3's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
$25.26/gal on Amazon (includes shipping). Listed as Motorcraft Gold Pre-Diluted VC-7DIL-B coolant. Makes sense if your loosing coolant, might be better to use concentrate if making up for evaporation loss. (Water evaporates, leaves the glycol behind). -
Depends on the type of belt. If it's a type of V-belt where you apply tension manually, it usually requires retensioning after 30 days or so. All belts stretch after being put into service. If it's a serpentine, the spring tensioner will adjust for any stretch automatically. Don't see why a belt would be squealing after being, installed unless the tensioner is not applying enough pressure; or some other part is applying too much load (bad bearing, etc). In any case, the dealer needs to take a look at it and make it right.

Ford just issued a recall on gas tanks for 2009 & 2010 Edge's and MKX's. You should be able to get a rebate on the one you had replaced back in January 2014. See the message posted in the recall forum for details.

Yea, Chaplin is another good example. I just finished a Great Courses series of lectures on "A History of Hitler's Empire", probably why I latched on to his persona.
-
Belts need to be retorted after 30 days do to streach. Don't let off the existing tension when retensioning.
