  1. Eh, it's "William Perry". (Older generation joke).
  2. 2015 Edge service manual on DVD sells for $50 on Ebay. Includes wiring diagrams and pollution control systems.
  3. Wonder if the infamous door switch could be in early stages of failing? If switch failed to show door open, would it be possible that the radio circuit would continue to think that all doors still closed, and continue to play? (Radio went off after opening and closing the door). Would be unrelated of course, but seems possible.
  4. Sorry for the partial response, worked late last night. Was reading on another forum where anot her person had a simular problem. His turned out to be the rear differential gears had shredded and burnt the grease. Said when the dealer opened the cover the entire garage filled with smell of propane. Another wrote that oil leaking from power steering blew on to exhaust manifold causing smell like propane. Both seem related to grease, oil getting too hot. Can't see the relationship to the radio staying on however.
  5. On my mkx, it's normal for the radio to stay on after the ignition has been turned off and the key removed. It will stay on for about 15 minutes or until a door is opened. As yours stayed on after the door was opened indicates a fault of the accessory delay system. To troubleshoot the accessory protocol module, you would need a computer. This module is located in the center console.
  6. If kit was a new vehicle when rented, they will usually go over the car with a fine toothed comb. Even so, the company who wrote the contract is the one who has to sign off on the vehicle, as they are the onest who acruelly owns the car. They can always come back on the leasee for anything they find on their (separate) inspection (which is why the dealer will look so closely. Larry ( my friend who leased his Explorer), said they refused to accept any touch up and required the dings to be done by their body shop (told him he could have used any body shop prior to return, but at that point his lease was up, no choice). He also had to pay for one new wheel. So the next car he leased and parked way out in the parking lot. Every time we went to take his car, he would do a Walk-around and check everything. Really paranoid. Never told me what it cost on returning the Explorer, but it was several hundred. (Which is why you need to have the dealer take a look and see if it would be cheaper to have the dings fixed at a less expensive shop.) Don't know about the wheels, if not clear, could be 6" total for all wheels. Dings are cheap, four new wheels from a dealer would be a killer. I would be interested in knowing what you find out.
  7. Do not pry on the outer register trim bezel. The clips on the outer register trim bezel break if pried on to remove the register. Working through the register vein openings, insert a suitable hook shaped pick behind each of the 4 register clips while gently pulling the register rearward with the hook to disengage the clip. Remove the driver or passenger side instrument panel register. (Note that this procedure is for the Edge. The MKX is much more complicated).
  8. If you read the reviews on Amazon, they are overwhelming negative. A common complaint is the crap coats the electrical connectors in the resivoir and leaves the low fluid light on permanently. Chrysler has a TSB on repairing the electronic sensor but makes it clear the owner is responsible for the costs. Another complaint is under certain curcumstances the fluid coats the windshield with a white film making it impossible to see clearly. This stuff is complete crap.
  9. I believe that the coating is there to prevent glare & is only present on low beams, fog lamps & dual filiment bulbs, (9004,6,7 H4,etc), never on high beams (9005, etc), as no need to block glare on high beams. You will ruin the bulb if you try to remove it. Just checked on my 09 MKX, my low beams are H11 and have a black coating, whereas my high beams 9005 do not.
  10. Like Omar302 said, antenna may have become loose from running through car wash. Also check overhead consul, eyeglasses might be source of vibration. If it still persists you could isolate by walking around front of car with a gas leaf blower, have wife in car signal when wind from blower causes vibration. (Maybe windshield trim or part on roof).
  11. Btw, does your contract call out 6" per wheel, or total of 6" for all wheels?
  12. Had a coworker who leased. When he went to take the car back, the dealer inspected the vehicle and wrote a complete report of everything they could find; door dings, scrapes, scratches, etc. In his case, they charged him the full cost of making all of the repairs not covered by the contract. A few weeks later he got another bill for a ding the dealer had missed, from the leasing agency. Your contract should call out everything allowed and everything beyond that you will be responsible for the full retail cost of each and all repairs. (The car must be returned in the same, exact condition as leased (less that allowed as normal wear). I would carefully reread the contract and arrange to make any repair outside the contract good at a better price before you take the car back (when its too late). If your uncertain, why not drop by the dealer and have the sales manager take a look; as it appears (on the surface) that you may be responsible for the cost of new wheels. And that's not a minor cost if you have to pay retail.
  13. He told me that he would just pump out the old fluid and (I think he said) pump the new fluid in. Don't see why they would need to go through dropping the unit just to change fluid. Suppose in the long run it's a better procedure but I'm happy with just getting in the new fluid.
  14. After reading about this problem here on this forum, I decided to have my local dealer change the fluid while I had my 09 in for its 90k. Service tech questioned whether I needed it, had him call out the head mechanic & and he said definitely, wish Lincoln would have added this into the maintenance schedule. They charged $75, said it was because the fluid cost $22 a quart.
  15. Curious. Just a random thought on this, there are 3 different modes that can be used to determine trip distance to end point (fastest, most direct & ECO). Wonder if the nav display is reading mosr direct & instrument panel reading fastest? Is it possible to even change this (don't have a 2012 to verify)?
  16. Yea, sewn using silver threads and golden needles. The Mustang coupe is listed at $48k. Guess I'm just out of it. Figure $72k at $500 a month payment takes 12 years to pay off. Didn't have the guts to ask the salesman what the vehicle leased for (didn't want to get him started, showroom empty and he looks sort of desperate .)
  17. At local Ford dealer getting my 09 90k service. Looking around showroom. Looked at a 2015 Navigator - $72,000! Damn.
  18. My 09 MKX goes in Tues morning for its 90k checkup (Inc changing plugs). When I made my appointment the service mgr told me if I let the plug gap get too big, the coils which are mounted on the plugs will draw extra current and could fail. Said they see this about twice a year. A coil replacement goes for 6-7 hundred (forget the exact price he mentioned).
  19. Can't wash these filters as their paper. Have to be replaced.
  20. Sounds very unusual to me. All of my cracked windshields were from getting hit by a rock. Insurance should cover it 100% and last one I had replaced was done in the parking lot while I was working.
  21. Why the door pockets were designed to hold a bag of Werther's, of course.
  22. First press locks doors. The second press within three seconds will lock the doors again and beep the horn once to acknowledge all doors, hood and hatch are closed and locked. (Two beeps indicate one or more are not closed completely and the car is not secure).
  23. How about using 2 layers of 3/4" OSB under the floor mat? You could buy a 4x4 piece at Lowe's or Manards, cut it in half and use the carpeted floor mat as a templete. Glue/ fasten the two pieces together and the floor on her side would be raised 1-1/2". (2 pieces of 5/8" would raise 1-1/4", 2-pieces of 1/2" would raise the floor 1".) Anyway, the wood is water resistant (I would still use Weathertech in the inclimate weather) and if slightly smaller that the carpet, would not show.
  24. Perhaps something like this would work OK. Lightweight, inexpensive and perfectly designed for this exact situation. Just "raise" her seat up to adjust the knee angle. http://www.wayfair.com/Go-Travel-Foot-Rest-Ottoman-475-GOTR1083.html
