  1. Oh now, now, now. I replaced my cabin air filter last month and, I swear, I'm getting 2 miles more per gallon.
  2. 09 and 10 model years are both relatively trouble free (taken in context). I have an 09 MKX and love it. Given the choices between the two you are giving, I would go with the 2010. It has small upgrades over the 09 and (more importantly), has navigation. No big deal if you don't use it, but a big deal if you decide you wish you had it better. I'm all for haggling over price, I got them to come down a grand (about what I wxpected), and a "slight" improvement on an extended warranty. Haggle, but see if you can get them to throw in an extended warranty.
  3. Do you know if they adjusted the high beams down, or the low beams up?
  4. Weathertech's in my MKX and that's all I give for Christmas.
  5. Anything here that would help? http://www.dashkitspecialties.com/dash_kits_ford.html
  6. And he his warranty hasn't run out,... yet.Of course it's a gamble. So is buying life insurance. I bought an extended warranty on an Escort years ago, developed problems idling. Ran as it had a race cam in it, loping and very poor performance. Took it in and after a week they called in the area rep. Tried everything and finally figured out that the cam shaft had not been hardened properly, was "shredding" steel and changed to shape of the lobes. Total cost was more than if I would have paid for a new engine, but only cost me $100 plus I had the use of a loaner. All it takes is one problem to use up your initial investment. And on a used vehicle, there's a lot that can fail in a AWD car. Electronics everywhere, sensors on everything, computers controlling every aspect of the car, complicated drivetrains;there's just to much that can go wrong. Personally I would rather have the piece of mind knowing I'm covered for the big stuff.
  7. You bought your Edge new in 2012 and this was the first time you changed the air filter? Ah, that's the problem, you waited too long, your air cleaner housing probably shrunk.
  8. No, they're not, but it's a common enough problem. I think it has more to do with "how" the car was driven, more so than how many miles it's seen. But, anything mechanical will fail eventually. For my 2 cents would urge to buy the Edge that has "all" the bells & whistles. The more goodies, the better. And most importantly, buy the best extended warranty you can afford. (No matter what car/brand/model you buy). A grand up front may just end up covering a serious problem later. So far I've used only about 70% of mine, just on "little" things, broken vacuum hose, stuff like that. Not the parts, it's the service labor.
  9. I like Redbow's solution. (Looks great!) Wood always looks better, especially when it's good quality; a source of pleasure for years to come.
  10. Check Ebay. Seen a new one on there for $250.
  11. Check Ebay. Seen a new one on there for $250.
  12. There's one currently on ebay for $240 and buy it now. Grab it if you are really serious, will not come up very often. http://m.ebay.com/itm/2015-2016-Ford-Edge-oem-Center-LED-Tail-light-bar-for-Lift-Gate-p-n-FT4B13B433AJ-/161933586343?nav=SEARCH
  13. I've found that its not all that uncommon that the shop doesn't always completely fill the oil. When it takes 5-1/2 qts. I've seen them use only 5 qts. telling me that it's okay. First step, check your oil level.
  14. Is it noisy from the getgo or does it quite a little after the warms up? Bearing noise or more like tappets, etc?
  15. I should have worded it differently. I meant that on "pitch black roads" you would probably be running brights and the fogs are disabled when the brights are on. Didn't mean to imply that they look stupid, just will not contribute any additional, useful light by throwing additional money in making them brighter. They work perfectly as designed, to illuminate the edges of the road right up in front of the car. Adding brighter fog lights serve of good purpose and probably would just throw additional glare towards oncoming drivers.
  16. A 5" locust? Holy sh☆☆! Can you imagine hitting a swarm at 60 mph an a motorcycle?
  17. Is it "only" after you refuel or does it also happen after the car has been sitting overnight? Personally I doubt it has to do with a "vacuum" problem, probably more like the fuel line is not remaining pressurized. Who were you referring to as "they"?
  18. First thing i would suspect is the battery itself. I would have the battery tested with a professional battery tester. Your dealer will probably do this for you free, in expectation of selling you a new battery. Btw, if you do need one, Ford has a coupon on their website for a 84 month battery. As for 33k and have problems, you should expect problems with anything mechanical or electrical, no matter what the age. Things fail. Batteries fail at different times depending on the loads and enviroment they have been exposed to. I've had a Diehard fail in less than one year. Had a Motorcraft go six years. (Shrug).
  19. It's Ford's warranty. I misread the coupon, it's 7 years, 84 months. http://owner.ford.com/maintenance/service-coupons-and-offers.html?couponId=BT010
  20. Pitch black roads, don't you use your brights? Fogs are disabled with brights.
  21. Gotta tell you, I occasionally see people running around with their fogs on on clear nights, and I've never thought to myself that it "looked good".
  22. Hadn't considered that, I can see your point. Reminded me of when I was on a business trip around the city years ago. Was on the freeway headed to LaGuardia. Traffic running 90+mph, bumper-to-bumper. The guy in back of me was bumping into my rear end, I was bumping into the car in front of me. Worst place to drive anywhere in North America. If it hadn't been a Avis would gave wanted bigger bumpers. Still doesn't look good though.
  23. It's difficult to say inasmuch as if you have them, how would you know what kind of stone damage would have occured had you not had them. That being said, yes, they do seem to block some spray from the side of the car. The real purpose is to protect stones from being thrown up by the tires.
  24. It would agree that WWWperfA hit on the coating on the cat converter burning off.
  25. Mine always squeek every time I back out of the garage. Like WFDEdge, it stops after I've driven a short distance. Was told that a thin layer of rust forms overnight that burns off after braking. (?)
