No-Drill Front Plate Bracket?
enigma-2 replied to BringthePayne's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
I would imagine g you would need to use the heavy duty ties, the ones that are 5/16" wide and rather thick, for this. -
Squeaky Wipers
enigma-2 replied to Brucifer's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I find that it's nothing more that a film on the windshield and oxidized blades. Windshields tend to accumulate and oil film from the road, and the film attracts dirt to stick to it. The blades have to streak across this film. Cleaning the windshield will help. Vinegar is good for this, cheap too. Blades, being rubber exposed to the road grime, salt and sunlight tend to develop an oxidation, making them lose some of theur flexibility. I wipe mine with a eyeglass cleaner wipe. Same wipe you use for your sunglasses. Clean your sunglasses then clean your blades. The alcohol will remove the oxidation film. This should stop any squeeking. -
Pufffff, if mine starts whistling, I'm taken it in, no matter what the owner's manual says.

No-Drill Front Plate Bracket?
enigma-2 replied to BringthePayne's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
And then the cop looks at the the front bumper and doesn't seem any mounting holes .... -
Noticed while I was at Lowes this last weekend, the had a spray chrome paint. Forget the brand, but back with the spray paints. Had several different varieties in fact. If you were able to mask off exposing just the scratch, could possibly spray and cover good enough to pass. As an alternative, you could spray some paint on a tiny paint brush and paint over the scratch. (Very carefully). Thinking of those paint brushes sold to paint model airplanes.

Broken part inside the cat converter or muffler?

Hi Tevesh. I have a 2009 MKX and as Ol Blue Eyes used to say, "that was a very good year". Great car, great year, one of the best. I have my tires rotated at every oil change and the seem to have worn equally all around. I don't put a lot of miles on, so I rotate every six months. Not too many changes to the car, changed the exterior mirrors to add the small blind spot mirror glass, Weathertech floor and cargo liners, LED lights in the front oh console, radar detector harness at the interior mirror, turned on the DRL, Silverstar headlight bulbs (both low & high beams), two cargo nets (grocery shopping). Still working on adding a backup camera into the car's nav screen on the APIM. (Have the camera, harness and nav unit connector, just haven't taken the time to do the install). Great to have you here.

Mostly Willie's Roadhouse. Some 50's on 5, 60's on 6, SPA or one of the other sappy channels when I want only background music & CNN. When I switch over to live TV it's usually for CNN or AMC. Occasionally Amazon Prime Video for a movie.

Open the door and a laser LED projects the Ford Logo onto the ground below the car. http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Projector-Shadow-Puddle-Lights/dp/B00HX4VQGS?ie=UTF8&redirect=true&ref_=pe_2313400_190813290_em_ti Personally I'm holding out for a type of laser Batman signal that projects the Lincoln logo and name onto the clouds when I open my car door. lol.

Key FOB AND manual key won't work
enigma-2 replied to brahmabull's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Why don't you try the second key and see if it can lock/unlock the door? (Just to isolate whether it's the key or the lock). -
Smaller rims would help. (Wouldn't look as cool however).

Anyone looked at rims that light up? http://www.carid.com/oracle-lighting/oracle-lighting-led-illuminated-wheel-rings-75090434.html

Need help! Hood shakes over bumps/on highways -2015 Edge
enigma-2 replied to MARIAV75's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
No. It should not shake or jiggle or wiggle. My 09 MKX is rock solid. There are two adjustable screws with hard rubber caps used to adjust the hood to make the hood set on a solid foundation. They are located one on each side of the engine compartment. If adjusted up, will provide lift on each side if the hood. Thus will take all sloppiness out and make the hood sit solid when closed. Simple fix if they still are using this setup on the 2016's. -

Wonder what it would look like with a full chrome wrap? Now, "that" would really stand out!!! (Heh). -
Key FOB AND manual key won't work
enigma-2 replied to brahmabull's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Did she try the 2nd key, fob, to see if they work? When you use the key, does it turn when unlocking (indicates a connecting rod may have become disconnected). If it doesn't turn, would indicate a broken lock. One other thought, have you ever tried this key before, are you certain that this is the correct key? That the fob didn't work and then did, could be a weak battery. Don't know of what it could be otherwise as it works now. Perhaps the battery is weak and she was too far away to talk to the car, but was closer on the last attempt. -
I was also told the same thing by local Ford dealer and Monteith Tire. Monteith did have the same brand and series and told me that I needed to put on the same size and tread if I needed to replace. Asked why about tread and had to do with the stability system or breaking (maybe both, they were talking (and talking) about what happens if the tread is different with AWD on ice. At the time it seemed to make sense. Do remember that it didn't matter if it was only FWD. However, owners manual only requires same tires on each axle - seems to allow different tread designs between front and back axles. From a personal preference, I would prefer same tires on all axles.

He didn't say anything about hearing warning chime, just it shut unexpectedly. If it were closing (button or otherwise), he would gave heard the warning chime and it would have close slow enough for him to get out if the way. With weak shocks, (and I agree, shouldn't be happening on a 2014), it "could" close without warning, too fast to get out of the way. Easiest way to isolate is to try to repeat it.

That sounds really high. I looked on Angie's and found the following for the best paint costs: "A platinum paint job includes light chip and scratch repair, priming and block sanding all areas, and a urethane sealer. It also comes with a five-year warranty." "Frost says his prices start at $299 for a basic job, and up to $3,000 for a premium show-car-quality finish, which includes a full wet sand and buff. He adds the base coat clearcoat offerings, which are part of the premium and platinum packages the company offers, start at about $1,200." -
I would not have rejected a good deal because of 1400 miles. Salesmen drive the vehicle (need to learn the car in order to sell it), possibly driven between dealerships (the use retirees to do this, cheaper than putting on a trailer). Not too much especially if they offering a good deal. (Shrug).

Great presentation, goes a long way to explain why some people are able to fix with WD40 (or whatever you care to use) and problem comes back. I've never had the problem on my MKX, but I did on an Sable I used to own. (WD40 fixed that one). But if I ever develop the switch hanging up, I'll try this. Thanks for posting!

Any California tuned cars out there?
enigma-2 replied to 3500cc's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Do you have to have your smog level tested on an annual basis (leading to modifying the tune changing and take the emissions settings out of the acceptable envelope)? -
You need to replace the lift cylinders. Mac has a video on how to do this (super easy).
