Took my 09 MKX in for the gas tank rdcall, they dropped the tank and it's bad, needs changing. No problems or leaks at all. Was rusting on top, where you can't see it. Getting a new tank for free. If you haven't taken yours in yet, don't put it off. Thought mine was fine but it was rusted, not rusted through, but would have faied sooner or later. They also found that my PTU seals are leaking, so new shaft seals (gotta find something, right?) Gave me a 2016 MKX as a loaner. Believe it or not, I want my 09 back! (Grin)

Checkout TIRERACK.COM. Input your vehicle and tire size and read the user remarks. Looking over the site, 2008 Ford Edge, SEL with FWD, 18" rims, a set of four Bridgestone Dueler's would run around $590 plus $60-$70 for shipping.

Amber, I wonder if you shouldn't have gotten a 4-wheel alignment.

Thanks, I decided to go a different way. Problem is, just cleaning the mats still leaves them light gray in spots, dark gray to black in others, no shine at all. Using a chemical like ArmorAll leaves them wet and slippery. What I ended up with was black mats, very grungy, looking like brand new, dry and not slippery. Here's what I did. First sprayed off the mats with my pressure washer 2800 psi @ 2.3 gpm) using a 25°tip. Then sprayed "Chemical Guys Nonsense Invisible Super Cleaner" on them to super clean them. I then blew the mats dry with an Echo gas blower. When fully dry I sprayed the mats (one at a time, in the shade ( with "Chemical Guy's Silk Shine Dressing". I used an applicator to work the dressing into all the crevices on the mat. Immediately afterwards I wiped the mat with a microfiber towel to remove all excess moisture. It was completely dry at this point and not slippery at all. Like new, no blotches, like new black color, semi sheen and not slippery. Perfect. [Edit] in driving today, noticed that shoes I'm wearing today ARE slippery in spots. Apparently I didn't get the mats wiped down completely. Wiped them again after getting home and still slippery with these shoes (some fancy walking shoe, don't remember the name ). Looks great, like new and long lasting, but the mats may be slippery. (For me it's not a big deal, but for others, it may be).

I've had excellent results with it clearing carbs (not always, sometimes I've had to throw the carb in the ultrasonic parts cleaner and sometimes even have to disassemble and rod out the jets with calibrated wires. In last few years, the jets have gotten much smaller for emissions requirements.) But it does work and also serves to prevent Ethanol from breaking down (up to a point of course, all gas breaks down over time). I put it in my empty 5 gal gas cans before I get gas. The sooner it's mixed with gas, the longer the gas lasts. Adding it to gas already 30 days old is already too late. Not everyone is confortable disassembling a carb with so many small pieces and exact tolarances. This may be an easy way to open the Jets without disassembling or paying a service shop to clean it.

Actually it's 500 ma. Fyi, my 2009 outlets are always on.

Jets are smaller on modern carbs. Jet still clogged do to Ethanol gas ( most likeky). Pour in "Sea Foam",run it until it get into the carb, shut off and let it sit for a few hours/day (let Sea Foam disolve the clog) and the start again. Should run without choke. If not, you will need to disassemble and clean with carb cleaner.

Don't really enter credit card on ebay, it's entered on Pay Pal, a very secure site.

Could always put in a little dye and look to see where it's leaking. Made fit this purpose.

If your considering buying at a Ford dealer, ask them to look up and see what previous service has been performed on this car. Xmission oil change at 60k, that sort of stuff.

That's a nice looking wheel for $150. You could easily get that and more on Ebay.

Did you check ebay? http://m.ebay.com/itm/262436026887

Has anyone used the cleaner & dressing for the mats from Weathertech?
-
Well winter is nearly over (been in the 40's lately) and I need to clean my floor mats. Never really got them back to showroom last year, wondering what everyone else uses. I'll be spraying them down with a gas pressure washer using a 25° tip, and std soap. Any suggestions?

Alot of these panels are just press fit into place. I would be tempted to put a lot of force on the area lifting up to see if just snaps back into place.

Hello yabuddy. Great to have you here. Your going to love your new Edge. Your going to get a lot of experienced advice on just about everything Edge & MKX here. All you have to do is ask. Lot of experts lurking. (Not me). Now as my two cents as to your first recommendation: Weathertech floor mats. Best way to protect your floors, especially in the areas of the county that has winter. Lincoln just notified me that they are ready to begin inspecting all of the 2009, 2010 MKX vehicles for fuel tank corrosion. Here is the text of the postcard I got in the mail: "In December 2015, The Lincoln Motor Company mailed you a letter announcing safety recall 15S31 regarding a potential issue with the fuel tank on your vehicle. Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. If you have not yet contacted your dealer to schedule service for this recall, please call your dealer without delay to schedule an appointment. At no charge to you, your dealer will inspect and either clean or treat or replace the fuel tank on your vehicle."

2015+ common area - a place to say anything (feel free to pin)

Gasoline with a high sulphur content car smell pretty rotten until you get through it. Comes and goes, could have been what you pulled in through the AC. Not that I noticed. -
Kind of sounds like the same problem that the guys with the intermittent shifter, had. Ah but once this is fixed you are going to have a great car.
-
Kind of sounds to me, as if it isn't recognizing the chip in the key. Wonder if re-coding both keys to the car would help? (Certainly can't hurt and doesn't cost anything to try).

Dash Cover Won't Stay In Place
enigma-2 replied to Shane Bogart's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I've read a lot of horror stories about Armor All drying out vinyls and leathers, causing cracking and hazing. Read somewhere that it's only recommended for use on tires. (Doesn't really state use on dashbiards, etc.) They DO make a leather formula and made a major change in the product couple of years ago, lot of complaints about the new stuff. Guy who does detailing for a living told me never to use this stuff, and if I so, never stop (something about the stuff in it causing it to draw all the moisture out of the vinyl and leather and causing damage when exposed to sunlight). I haven't use the stuff since the 90's. Be interesting to see what the pros in the detailing forum think of it. -
Which area of the instrument cluster is it coming from? Perhaps someone else here has a simular problem and it was an easy fix. FWIW, I've had rattles on every car I've owned, except for my current 09 MKX. Some I just learned to ignore and some drove me nuts. Fused around until I found and fix it. Any possibility that it coming from outside the car (engine compartment or exhaust system) and being interpreted as coming from the instrument cluster?
