From what I've read, the plastics have only improved since 1996.

Can't say for certain in your 16 Edge but in my 09 MKX the display can be switched between north always on top (where the car may be going sideways), the Bird Eye's view (don't like) or car goes towards top and direction north changes (what your wanting). (Check page 482 in your owners manual.) Also like to have the turn-by-turn directions displayed as well. Nice to look down and check up on how far before the next turn. Nice to to be able to turn on where gas stations are and what prices are. Also, I'm a sucker for Starbucks and often turn on "show coffee shops" along route. I could never do things like these when I used a Garmin).

Which ever way you go, keep in mind that an aftermarket hitch will limit your trailer to 1,500 lb max (with 2.0 engine) or 2,000 lbs max (with 2.7 or 3.5 engines).

Plastic engines have been around since 1980 when they developed a 2.3 liter Pinto engine. It weighed 152 lbs (vs over 400 for cast iron). There was also an engine developed for racing and had several top 5 finishes, finished 3rd once. "Plastic parts included the engine block, cam cover, air intake trumpets, intake valve stems, piston skirts and wrist pins, connecting rods, oil scraper piston rings, tappets, valve spring retainers and timing gears." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_automotive_engine Good article in Car and Driver on plastic engines of the future. http://blog.caranddriver.com/is-this-the-engine-of-the-future-in-depth-with-matti-holtzberg-and-his-composite-engine-block/ Article in Design News on plastic parts Ford replaced in the curent 3.5 and 3.7 V6's. http://www.designnews.com/author.asp?doc_id=270929

Tire Recommendations Would Be Much Appreciated
enigma-2 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Wheels & Tires
These are the tires I'm currently running. Great tire, wears well, still fairy quiet 2/3's through its life. Don't expect to actually get 80k however. -
Doesn't the fuel door lock when the car is locked on the 2016?

Tire Recommendations Would Be Much Appreciated
enigma-2 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Wheels & Tires
Ford advised at my last oil change that my tires are nearing their final miles. Checked Tirerack.Com for my car (2009 MKX, AWD) and the overall best choice (all over 9.0 for all ratings) was the Michelin Premium LTX @ $265/each. I believe that will will be the tire I will go with. (At least for now). Willing to pay more for better performance, smoothness and quiet. -
What phone do you have?

Try a dedicated local transmission shop. Probably get a better PTU flush anyway.

Whistle noise comming from driver mirror when windy - 2015 Edge
enigma-2 replied to mazda3ride's topic in Exterior & Body
Why couldn't you just run a thin bead of clear silicone over the joint of the access cover on the underside of the mirror? -
My 09 MKX brake booster wasn't covered either. Shop replaced it under extended warranty.

Tire Recommendations Would Be Much Appreciated
enigma-2 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Wheels & Tires
As WWWPerfA_ZNOW stated, look on tirerack.com, especially at the user ratings. Afterwards you can have the tires shipped to Discount Tire as they are an authorized dealer for TireRack. I did this with my local Ford/Lincoln dealer and they matched price + got $200 debit card back in mail from ford + $25 for using my Ford credit card!!! -
Water leaking passenger side ford edge fan noise
enigma-2 replied to edgeguy08's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Leaves should not be getting into the HVAC blower housing. Check your cabin air filter. Also check under the hood at the back, top of the engine compartment. This is where the HVAC air intake is located. Make certain that the exterior filter (grill?) is in place. -
HVAC Blower not blowing all the time
enigma-2 replied to Mustangfreak's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Isn't the resistor completely out of the circuit when the blower is set to high? The HVAC Control Module decides whether to pass current through each leg of the resistor or go direct to the motor. -
If you have ever sold new cars you already know that you sell a car three times. First you sell the car off the showroom floor, second you sell the car through financing and third, you sell the car through parts. All parts fail, only a question of time and circumstance. The door switches have been a source of headache, but only a small percentage of cars have failures. Same with tb. Why do some fail early and others go the life of the car?

Several websites offer their opinion based on people they have talked with: http://carpreview.com/ford/edge/2017/previews Here's (supposedly) a pix of prototype: http://releasedatesnewcars.com/2017-ford-edge/ As per rumor website, mostly the same as 2016, some new colors, new grill and front end design, different engine for Euro exports. (Link above). About what you would expect with a mid cycle design. As one site put it, if your wondering if you should go with a 2026 or wait fir the 17, go with the 16 as no real advantage with the 17 (advanced sync stuff will be made available for the 16) and there will be a price increase. 18 is expected to start a new Cycle.

Is there a clip missing or just not holding (needs new clips)?
-
Could always get a trunk monkey instead. Heard you can buy a 2-pack of sockets at Pep Boys for $25 that can pop most locking wheel bolts. Hiwever, if you put on five per wheel however, if I were a tire thief, I'd just move on.

Have you consideted that the capless filler may be working fine and the actual problem lies in the evap canister, hoses or seloniod (or related)

Are you happy with Edge? Would you buy Edge again?
enigma-2 replied to t0lkman's topic in Owner Impressions
Ok, sorry, my mistake. Probably a stupid question but have you updated to your latest operating system for your sonim xp5520? -
On an 2009 or 2010, press the "setup" button on the left side of the center console repeatedly until it displays "power liftgate". Press the "reset" button to toggle the liftgate function on or off. (Note this will only disable the buttons on the exterior and cargo area panel, the button on the FOB & instrument panel will still operate the liftgate). On a 2011-2014, the process is simular, the menu is displayed in the message center between the speedometer and the tach. Press the left button on the steering wheel up or down until "convenience" is displayed. Then press the right arrow key to choose "power liftgate". Press ok button to toggle on or off. Back out using the left arrow button. On some 2014 (type-2 type displays)-2016, the switch is listed under "vehicle". .

Actually it's a no-cost feature. Stops nagging.

Blower motor replacement?
enigma-2 replied to Yankeesgirl05's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Glad to hear it. I cant see how changing the HVAC motor would have any effect on the front or rear defrosters. Are both working now?
