  1. Sorry for beating a (long) dead house, but I was wondering what (if any) THX system has? Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be any topics on this in either forum. I get the surround sound aspect, demo built in sounds great, but does anyone actually sell surround cd's? Anyone ever use their surround system capabilities? Like to buy a great sounding cd, perhaps something 'not' classic. It works with DVD movies really well, but nothing seems to be available for CD music.
  2. This is what I use https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JNJPS4W/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  3. Thanks, I'll bet it has never been done. I'll have them do a full flush when I have new pads put on. Any way of telling how much moisture the fluid has absorbed? There such a thing as brake fluid tester?
  4. This is a follow up to my earlier post. As of today, the mats are no longer slippery. It will be interesting to see how long they stay new looking
  5. Mac, what do you think is a good interval for a brake fluid change. I have somewhere around 93k, been kicking it around getting a brake job. (Hate my brakes). You recommend a fluid change when I have this done? (It's not listed in the maintenance manual).
  6. On Tirerack.Com. users have rated the Michelin Premier LTX's at 9.5 for wet traction. TireRack testing rated it at top for wet weather and winter traction. The LX20's only rated at 8.9 for wet traction.
  7. You're getting that good? lol. That's about what I get in my 09 MKX. Currently around 17, depends on how heavy my foot gets. Should see closer to 20 on the highway. Maybe 21 with softer tires like Hankook or Michelin. (Until the softer rubber layer wears off that is).
  8. I know, that's why I said to file it as a comprehensive claim. Cost will be the deductible.
  9. I was thinking of kid throwing a rock or brick, something simular.
  10. A P0020 code refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module) That consists of an oil control valve (OCV), also called a solenoid valve and other components. Basically the check engine light and associated P0020 trouble code means that the voltage in the circuit has fallen below a set limit for a specific amount of time (varies by make/model/engine). Bank 2 is the side of the engine that doesn't contain cylinder #1. A code P0020 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty oil control valve (OCV) Open or short in the VVT/VCT circuit Open or short in the OCV / solenoid valve Damaged computer (PCM) Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are: Carefully inspect the Bank 2 VVT/VCT system circuit wiring and connectors, repair as required With a warm engine, test the operation of the OCV, replace/repair as needed
  11. My must say I agree with Nick, that was hit by something. Should be covered under your comprehensive policy.
  12. Just picked it up. Took about 3 hours for tank change and PTU seals. Asked about tank and Asst Service rep said that it was rusted around where the two shell halves were welded together. Hadn't rusted through yet, but Ford determined that it's not possible to prevent it and they are changing all tanks. New tank has a different coating and different straps.
  13. It smelled like someone had been smoking a cheap cigar in it with the windows up. Just dropped it off and told the service agent about it. He smelled it and thought it was a clogged drain on the AC evaporator drain. Then he started mumbling something about the A piller leaking and causing mold, but stopped and added "but I think they had already fixed that". It really stinks, strong, musty smell.
  14. You aren't using 10W-40 oil are you? "Thick oil", is it cream colored?
  15. Extended warranty, I have a $100 deductible.
  16. Got a 2016 MKX loaner while new gas tank being put on, and has terrible musty odor in car. Asst service mgr told me while showing how to use car, that they can't figure out where odor is coming from. Personally I think it's AC drain clogged, but car is only 1-1/2 months old. Seems that others are also having same problem. Wonder if they changed design on 2016?
  17. I used my gas pressure sprayer and it seemes to clean better than a scrub brush. Also used a strong cleaner, Chemical Guys "Nonsense" on them. Came clean but bloched; light gray spots, dark gray areas, etc. Used their "Silk" dressing and they look like new.
  18. I've got a gas blower carb that would prove you wrong, lol. My point was, not everyone is confortable in tearing a carb apart. Using SeaFoam could disolve the gum and get the engine running without using choke. If the OP is asking, probably not wanting to tear down carb like we would.
  19. My 09 MKX is in for service today they gave me a 2016 Lincoln MKX as a loaner. It has Hankook Venus S1 noble2, 245/50R20 tires on it. Smooth, quiet. Treadwear 660, traction A, temperature A. Sets "Kontril Technology" on tire. I was impressed with ride.
  20. I must agree, went back and wiped with towel again, and not bad now, but still w little slippery in these walkers. All things considered, will still dress in future, like the new look; and smell. Noticed that the dirty mats had a dirt smell to them when I took them out. Never noticed that when they were in the car. Guess a year is too long to go before cleaning. ;-)
  21. Took my 09 MKX in for the gas tank rdcall, they dropped the tank and it's bad, needs changing. No problems or leaks at all. Was rusting on top, where you can't see it. Getting a new tank for free. If you haven't taken yours in yet, don't put it off. Thought mine was fine but it was rusted, not rusted through, but would have faied sooner or later. They also found that my PTU seals are leaking, so new shaft seals (gotta find something, right?) Gave me a 2016 MKX as a loaner. Believe it or not, I want my 09 back! (Grin)
  22. Checkout TIRERACK.COM. Input your vehicle and tire size and read the user remarks. Looking over the site, 2008 Ford Edge, SEL with FWD, 18" rims, a set of four Bridgestone Dueler's would run around $590 plus $60-$70 for shipping.
  23. Amber, I wonder if you shouldn't have gotten a 4-wheel alignment.
  24. Thanks, I decided to go a different way. Problem is, just cleaning the mats still leaves them light gray in spots, dark gray to black in others, no shine at all. Using a chemical like ArmorAll leaves them wet and slippery. What I ended up with was black mats, very grungy, looking like brand new, dry and not slippery. Here's what I did. First sprayed off the mats with my pressure washer 2800 psi @ 2.3 gpm) using a 25°tip. Then sprayed "Chemical Guys Nonsense Invisible Super Cleaner" on them to super clean them. I then blew the mats dry with an Echo gas blower. When fully dry I sprayed the mats (one at a time, in the shade ( with "Chemical Guy's Silk Shine Dressing". I used an applicator to work the dressing into all the crevices on the mat. Immediately afterwards I wiped the mat with a microfiber towel to remove all excess moisture. It was completely dry at this point and not slippery at all. Like new, no blotches, like new black color, semi sheen and not slippery. Perfect. [Edit] in driving today, noticed that shoes I'm wearing today ARE slippery in spots. Apparently I didn't get the mats wiped down completely. Wiped them again after getting home and still slippery with these shoes (some fancy walking shoe, don't remember the name ). Looks great, like new and long lasting, but the mats may be slippery. (For me it's not a big deal, but for others, it may be).
  25. I've had excellent results with it clearing carbs (not always, sometimes I've had to throw the carb in the ultrasonic parts cleaner and sometimes even have to disassemble and rod out the jets with calibrated wires. In last few years, the jets have gotten much smaller for emissions requirements.) But it does work and also serves to prevent Ethanol from breaking down (up to a point of course, all gas breaks down over time). I put it in my empty 5 gal gas cans before I get gas. The sooner it's mixed with gas, the longer the gas lasts. Adding it to gas already 30 days old is already too late. Not everyone is confortable disassembling a carb with so many small pieces and exact tolarances. This may be an easy way to open the Jets without disassembling or paying a service shop to clean it.
