  1. it's all in the eye of the beholder.
  2. If I were you, I'd order directly from the factory. Otherwise, you will have to deal with figuring out the build date for any dealer inventory. And then you'll have to worry if the dealer fixed the problem properly. Also, you will get a private offer for $750 if you either request a paper brochure for the Edge in the mail from Ford.com or click "Get Updates" at the bottom of the main Ford Edge page.
  3. Do you have AWD? It looks like it's not an option with AWD.
  4. It does look very similar to the Subaru Outback too. But I honestly think the Santa Fe looks closer for some reason. Right before the Edge started shipping I was trying to keep an eye out for it and I kept seeing the Santa Fe out of the corner of my eye and turning to look only to find out it wasn't the Edge after all! I am actually kind of surprised how conservative the front end of the Edge is compared to the back end. It looks kind of boring from the front, but the back side looks dynamic and modern. I'm not really sure what the goal was with the design. The interior has some of the same contrasting design cues. The center stack is all function and no form. Easy to feel round buttons with non-offending matte gray finishes. Then all around you have contrast stitching with up to 3 more interior colors, If you opt to get the cognac interior, you get charcoal for the bottom half of the cabin, brown seating surfaces, and light gray for the entire headliner. All those contrasting colors really tell a different story than that center stack which is bland by comparison.
  5. Well... The center stack in the new Edge is probably the most bland and boring part of the car. It's just matte gray plastic with round buttons. It's not visually interesting. And everybody hates Sync 2 in the reviewer community. My bet is that once Sync 3 is released reviewers will be all saying "the Edge has the edge on the competition" You watch. The Murano looks horrible in pictures, but looks better in person. The Santa Fe is lame. I don't care what anybody says. But Ford didn't help themselves by making the Edge's front end look so similar to the Santa Fe.
  6. Bumper to bumper warranties are great. They'll replace that warped stuff for sure.
  7. I found it weird that Weathertech currently does not sell the cargo mat.
  8. If you close it manually, does it stay closed?
  9. I tried installing it myself. Unless you're already a pro at installing vinyl on curved surfaces, it's nearly impossible to get it on without bubbles/creases over all the curves on the first try. I'd really recommend that people spend the extra money and have pros do it.
  10. The quad cities in IA may have similar mixes to whats in IL since it's just a bridge away from the IL side. But I know in the interior part of the state, only 89 octane has Ethanol, and it's actually the cheapest to buy. 87 is sold at the price of the mid grade. I think this is because Ethanol is subsidized. When I lived there I was able to find 93 at some stations, but it definitely varied by the station.
  11. I don't have an edge, but I think I recall from a Youtube video that you adjust the height of the tailgate and then press and hold the button on the lift gate for several seconds to program the height.
  12. I've ordered from the factory twice, and both times I put $250 down. I was really hoping to have the 2016 Edge by Christmas this year. I was going to surprise my wife, but I guess that won't be happening!
  13. Some states are better at it than others. For example, In Iowa, I know 87 and 91/93/95 octane have no ethanol. Only 89 octane has ethanol. It's funny too because Iowa grows a lot of corn, you'd think that the corn lobbyists would've gotten a law passed requiring an ethanol blend in all fuels.
  14. And production for 2015 models ends on October 16, 2015. I sure hope only a few thousand people ordered the driver's package.
  15. I was half tempted to forward this thread to Autoblog and Jalopnik. But then I decided against it as this issue isn't a longstanding issue that Ford has ignored. We have to give them a little time to rectify the issue before becoming a whistle blower and causing Ford bad press for something that they are actually trying to rectify. Some of the problems members are reporting are worse than what I remember seeing on the other enthusiast forum I am for my car, but we have to give Ford a chance to make it right with those affected by these issues.
  16. The big problem with the cars that aren't rated for E85 is that the parts probably aren't rated for E85 either. Ethanol is more corrosive than gasoline and while the ECU may have a timing table for E85 that is not advertised, the mechanical parts would have premature failures.
  17. That means your car will be built on the thirtieth of November in the second year of the new world order.
  18. Ethanol decreases mileage. But if you are using E10 gas, you probably won't notice a difference outside of a lab. E85 decreases mileage 10-20%.
  19. Then Ford had better change the 2.0T HP/TQ ratings that were given with 93 octane fuel. This is a defect with the design of the 2.0T if this is the case.
  20. It's amazing that they already have some reference guides up there. The order bank for 2016's doesn't even open until August and production isn't scheduled until October! I'm sure the first delivery of 2016's won't be before December.
  21. I sure would hope not. But if it makes you all feel any better My wife's two Toyotas she's owned had some pretty bad problems before 100k miles... One, the power locks stopped working, and the trunk release, which was a physical cable broke, She also had an O2 sensor failure. On her current Toyota, her exhaust pipe cracked open and the clock no longer works, her lights have an "off" position, but it does nothing and you cannot turn them off when the car is running. On my Ford Ranger the EGR valve sensor broke twice in under 75k miles, that was super annoying. On my Chevy my throttle body position sensor broke at about 34k miles. I can't say that Toyota has some super amazing quality that US brands don't have.
  22. I know Consumer Reports isn't the final word and Sync 2 dragged down Ford as it has been since 2011... But there are reliable cheap brands... http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/10/27/consumer-reports-reliability-survey-infotainment-unrelaible/18008451/
  23. I don't have an Edge yet, but I'm 75% sure it'll be the Titanium. But if money is tight, it'll be the SEL. It's a few thousand dollars difference considering the options I want, but I am only going to buy what I can afford!
  24. Hey, not everyone has the money or space to buy both an Edge and a F150 And for everyday the Edge is more compact and has more passenger room. Trucks can tow campers and other heavy loads. It all depends on your needs! I'd love to have both a truck and SUV. Heck, I'd love to have a Ford GT, Ford Raptor, AND Edge... If only I had unlimited cash and a very large garage!
  25. I too am waiting for Sync 3. If my previous track record is any indicator, I'll be keeping the Edge for 10 or so years. So getting an interface that is not end-of-life is important.
