Listening to audio I think he said it's a pre-production model.

That's great news! depending on how close your dealer is to the train depot, you could have your Edge any day now! It took my car 1 day from the day it went on a truck to get to my dealer back when I bought my last one.

I think we can call it. The color in the youtube videos is the real color.... http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2015/03/2016-ford-edge-review/index.htm -
2015 Edge FWD with 2.0 Ecoboost - Premium Fuel?
cab2g replied to garrett62's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
I guess I misread this:https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/02/06/performance-and-power--2015-ford-edge-sport-certified-as-highest.html It's confusing that they mention 93 octane in the sentence and then neglect to mention that another spec in the same sentence was determined using 87 octane. -

Not too be a negative Nancy, but the perpendicular park assist definitely seems like more trouble than it is worth. I know a lot of people have problems parallel parking. So I get that feature. But if you can't park in a regular old parking lot without any computer intervention. You should not be driving... the 180 degree front camera on the other hand will be worth it's weight in gold for people that have to pull out with obstructed views, which is most everybody in urban environments.

There must be a reason they didn't call this the 2016 Edge. They must really want to reserve the 2016 designation for some reason. Well, I guess part of the reason could just be that they can't go straight from 2014 to 2016... Even so, they're going to have to switch over to the 2016 MY within months of the 2015 showing up at dealers. It's a weird situation.

How Much Does A 2015 Edge Weigh?
cab2g replied to All Hat No Cattle's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Also, the MPG rating is probably being hurt by the gear ratios on the Edge Sport. My guess is that the gears are a little closer together in the Edge Sport to enhance the sporty feel, but this means that on average you'll be running higher RPMs for city driving than you would on a base model F150 with what I'm guessing is a lower gear ratio. The stated final drive ratio for the 2015 Ford F150 with 2.7L ecoboost is: 2.45:1 The stated final drive ratio for the 2015 Ford Edge Sport is: 2.77 All in all this means that the engine is on average turning more times per wheel turn. The Ford F150's standard Tire circumference is ~95 (diameter 30.5) inches. The Edge Sport's circumference is ~93 inches (diameter=29.6) The tires are a tiny bit smaller on the Edge, but that doesn't account for the 12% difference in drive ratios. So the closer gears probably are affecting the mileage on the Sport. My guess as to the reasoning for the better highway MPG for the Edge probably comes down to engine load due to air resistance. I am assuming the pickup truck has a lot more drag than the Edge which only becomes a real issue at high speeds (eg highway driving). So even with the closer gear ratios, the Edge gets better mileage on the highway than the F150. How's that for a long winded answer? -
This Youtube video shows the cargo cover. I'm not sure how it compares to previous models:

Check out Guard in person. It is very hard to make out any green unless the sun is shining directly on it. The Fusion has most of the colors that the Edge has and it's already on dealer lots.
-
And don't forget, if you're still going there for service after a few years, they will probably be looking at a repeat sale since you're always seeing all those shiny new cars every time you take your not so new car to the dealer. It's really a win win. Last time I took my 2011 to the dealer, an ambitious salesperson asked if I wanted to look at any cars in the showroom while I waited. The money is definitely in service and parts though. Usually they charge retail for any parts they install and that normally means about 100% profit. Add to that the labor rates they charge are usually $60+/hr. I'm sure the mechanics are making in the $20's at the most. I honestly think that when dealers are able to sell a car for several thousand off of MSRP, you think mentally that you are saving THOUSANDS. Then when you are charged retail for a $200 part, you shrug it off as a convenience fee. But add all those $50, $200, $500 parts and the dealer is making good money! That's fine by me, as long as they continue to treat me like a valued customer even when my car is getting long in the tooth.

I have been using TrueCar.com. I always aim to get a price in the lower quadrant of prices paid.

source: http://www.torontosun.com/2015/02/26/the-new-ford-edge These look like pretty official pictures meant for a press release... My guess is that this is a special one-off example for promotional reasons, but it's sure going to confuse a lot of people when they try to order an Electric Spice Titanium only to find that the color is only available for the Sport model

Ford finally posted an official picture of the Cognac interior

Luckily for me I work with calibrated monitors But yeah, I agree the white balance could be off on the youtube videos. But both videos are so close in color. They're probably pretty close to the real-life color. Also, one video is taken with indoor lighting and the other video is in direct sunlight. Both are still close. -

bad news, I talked with Ford through their web site chat feature and they said that the images for the cognac interior are computer-generated. That includes both the "build your own" tool and the image gallery picture I posted. So that means that the Youtube videos are probably closer to the actual color. It's a shame that the representation on the web site is so far off, especially the "build your own" tool. here's the other youtube showing the cognac interior on a black Titanium Here's the build your own tool: -
Sync 3 staring to be released now
cab2g replied to Jeff Maynard's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm hoping Sync 3 is available this year for the 2016 MY Edge. He was very careful not to say what other models besides the Mustang would be updated this year, but as long as the 2016 Edge is released in Q4 or later, I'd say there is a good possibility. That's also pretty likely because it wouldn't make much sense to release the 2016 Edge in Q2 or Q3 since the 2015 is getting released on the tail end of Q1. -
So I guess they technically will be in people's hands in Q1 2015 like they promised! After shipping, it may be on March 20, but still.

There must be quite a stockpile built up. They've been building them for about a month now. Too bad there's no customer pick up at factory option

Just noticed today Heating steering wheel in Sport picture.
cab2g replied to Jeff Maynard's topic in Multimedia
That's my guess too. Same thing happened when my car was introduced. They advertised a feature, then when it came close to production, they deleted it and then added it back the next model year. But then again, this situation is slightly different because the heated steering wheel is offered in the Titanium trim. -
Or you could go in the opposite direction and leave the keys to the vehicle unlocked in the armrest storage like I found International did several years back. Can you imagine driving around an International Truck around the auto show?

I believe that. My local dealer doesn't even have the 2015 brochures yet. I'm glad that Ford is taking their time releasing the 2015, but it's hard waiting so long to see some examples on dealer lots before making my final decision! -

Now that's confusing. I saw another video that was taken outdoors and the leather looked lighter like this video, which was taken indoors. But If you "build your own" 301A or 302A titanum and select "Cognac perforated leather" The color is much darker than the official picture. I wish Ford would make up their minds. To be honest, I'm a little sad that the Cognac interior is not available with Deep Impact Blue. I think that'd be a great combo. It's available with Bronze Fire, though, which may be nice. Otherwise you have your choice in either black, white or any grayish color in between
