Ford finally posted an official picture of the Cognac interior
cab2g replied to cab2g's topic in Multimedia
took some pics of the cognac interior with my phone the other day. It's definitely a lighter brown. It is not orange, thank goodness. It looks nice. But the fact that the interior had three tones was kind of bugging me, most of the lower parts are black, the leather is brown, and the top half is off white. Why isn't the top black??? -
I know this is a dumb question, but did you check the equalizer settings? maybe somebody messed with them and they're all at zero??? I haven't been in a car yet whose speakers didn't get so loud to overpower wind noise...

Your Edge looks better and better every time I look at it! great pics.

That sounds about right if they sold it to you for $300 below invoice and your sticker price was around 40k.

Perforated Leather Trimmed Seats
cab2g replied to oskar27's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
My car is almost 5 years old and I have perforated leather. There are no issues with stretching or tearing around the perforation. I also do not notice collection of dust/grime in the holes either. The holes are so tiny. -
it says the folder doesn't exist. You probably have to share the folder or copy a public link.

Sync 3 staring to be released now
cab2g replied to Jeff Maynard's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
LOL give Ford some credit. I'm sure durability was a major concern. magnetic drives typically die after a few years.. From a manufacturing standpoint it's probably cheaper to install solid state flash memory built into a PCB board then it is to have a separate drive with a case and moving parts. And unless they are planning on offering customers the ability to save media as part of Sync 3, they probably only need several hundred megabytes to a couple gigabytes to store the OS and applications that the user can download. -
Sync 3 staring to be released now

yeah, that has to be a slip. Flash storage is so cheap these days. -
Electric Spice really does look nice. congrats on finally getting delivery!

It's officially available at at least one dealer in Chicagoland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9cE58XwvCA Anybody near Willowbrook can check it out.
-
You're absolutely right. I just dropped by one of the dealers, they still have not 2015 inventory. And apparently no brochures...
-
According to Ford's inventory search a couple local dealers have one Edge in stock each... Guess it's true, they finally did ship.

All-new 2015 Edge using the old MFT hardware/software?
cab2g replied to fastman's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I know salespeople will say anything to get a sale, but the same guy who made the 20 minute video describing all the new and interesting features of the 2015 Edge (which was also 100% accurate) posted a video on Sync 3: The interesting part is that he says the 2015 Edge will be upgradable to Sync 3 without a HW change. I know this contradicts what Ford said. However, it makes sense that they wouldn't design unique hardware for the 2015 model year only. Of course, if you want to be sure to get Sync 3, just wait until the 2016 model comes out. -
honestly, in the city, you're driving stop and go on the highway at some point most days even if it's not during "rush hour" It really is annoying to keep switching pedals. I see the benefit in full stop and go adaptive cruise control. However, with all the idiots cutting people off, I would need a lot of convincing to actually use adaptive cruise control in stop and go traffic. You're putting a lot of faith in cameras and algorithms to predict and react to irrational human behavior.
-
Apparently there's always room for improvement... Apparently adaptive cruise is stupid if it can't drive in stop and go traffic and bring the car to a complete stop. from: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/200797-2015-ford-edge-review-dazzling-tech-and-luxury

Sync 3 staring to be released now
cab2g replied to Jeff Maynard's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
from: http://www.cnet.com/products/2015-ford-edge/ This is the most specific quote I have seen about the 2016 Edge receiving Sync 3.0. And again it's confirmed that 2015's can't be upgraded to Sync 3.0. However, I am sure an industrious 2015 owner could just buy whatever 2016 HW is required for Sync 3.0 when one can order the parts. -
It's probably a little bit faster than that. 270 lb/ft should be able to get those RPMS up there relatively quickly... I had a 150HP pickup truck with 200 lb/ft torque that did 0-60 in around 11 seconds And that truck weighed 4600lbs!

I've been waiting for Autoblog's review. I read that blog religiously.

From http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1097209_2015-ford-edge-first-drive/page-2 So there you have it. You'll get 220HP and 275 lb/ft torque if you use 87 octane.
