I already took my Edge to the dealer once. The weather stripping within days of picking up started coming off of the door frame on the upper front edge of the driver's side rear door. They replaced the part after ordering a new one. 6 months later it started coming off on the passenger side rear door, now it is off again on the driver's side rear door. Has anybody else experienced this? Has anybody else fixed this any other way besides replacing with a new piece of weather stripping. I can keep going back to the dealer time and time again and getting new parts, but once the warranty runs out, this will become a real issue.

SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
cab2g replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I just did the 1.0 -> 2.2 with nav update. Everything worked seamlessly. Phew! I also ordered the Ford part HC3Z-19A387-B instead of the Lincoln part GJ7Z-19A387-B in order to get the blue LED... According to the dealer, the Ford part is on backorder until mid-February. To me, I'd rather have the Ford part, but I'm just picky. It's too bad Apple requires their stupid authentication chip in everything. I'd rather not have spent $60 just to get CarPlay, but oh well. -
Thanks Ford for the Private Cash Offer After The Fact
cab2g replied to RedWhitingBlue's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Those private cash orders are tricky and they are linked to your address in the vincent system and cannot be extended by the dealer. They're really meant to get people to the lots and to encourage an "impulse" buy. People that special order can get lucky and get one that's valid when your order is delivered, but besides that, there is not much you can do. I documented my experience with private cash offers here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/19751-helpful-information-to-buyers-after-placing-your-new-edge-order/?do=findComment&comment=146209 Maybe you can try to play the game I played and you'll get lucky, but I was biting my nails too in the final weeks. -
The USB ports stay powered when the car is off. That's for sure.

2016's started building on 12/15/15. So you must've gotten one of the very last 2015s

Nobody knows yet. Probably around December time-frame.
-
Nice ride you're right. the pictures don't do it justice!

I am surprised that there is such a variation in fit and finish. I went over every corner and the worst thing I found was a chip in the driver's side door paint probably from transport. In my opinion, this has been the best fit and finish I have seen from any car I've bought. No misaligned panels. I coudn't feel any defects in the paint. No scuffs in the soft interior plastic. etc.
-
You are correct, memory seats/mirrors are standard equipment on the Titanium and Sport models. They are not available on the SEL.
-
They shipped all remaining 2015s at the end of December. It took 8 days for my edge to make it to Chicago from Oakville. I'd agree. That dealer probably has an issue with Ford that needs to be resolved.

Cannot decide Titanium 2.0T vs Titanium 3.5L
cab2g replied to t0lkman's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I've driven both, I liked the 2.0T better because it pulled harder during normal driving. I don't know how much aggressive passing I'd do on the highway at high RPMs so I can't really compare the 3.5L in that aspect. I normally just hit cruise control and leave it at that. 0-60 on the 2.0L was more impressive in my opinion than the 3.5L, which just felt "slower" from the pure seat of the pants acceleration feel. -
Maybe try to go through another dealer. Even though it may not be as easy, you can place an order from another dealer over the phone and fax/email all the paperwork. If you already have an agreed upon price, there should be no negotiation from the other dealer. Just tell them to beat the price you already have by a couple bucks.

Edge Sport Privacy Glass
cab2g replied to davidceder's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Thanks! They are the stock wheels. I think the optional 20" wheels look the best, but practicality got the best of me and I opted for the taller sidewalls to keep the ride a bit smoother and limit the curb rash that may happen during daily kid hauling duties. -
I am on the fence. Ford offers an extended warranty and I was able to find some pretty good prices online. I was thinking of getting the 6 year 75,000 mile premium care option for $985 with a $50 deductible. Ford wouldn't sell warranties if they didn't make money on them. So I am thinking what are the chances that I will have a $1000 repair in the first 6 years... It scares me to think that I may get hit with a couple big repairs, but I just don't know if it's worth it. Has anybody bought their warranty and not used all the $ they spent on it by the time it expired? I'm a little worried because even the premium care warranty does not cover seals, water leaks or rust. With the leaky 2015 Edges, I wonder how well these guys are sealed. But I am probably being too paranoid.
-
Yeah, I was mistaken... My dealer was too. I got them for free, but they do have a price. Go figure. They didn't order them and because of their mistake they didn't bill me for them. They told me they were free initially.

The online order tracking tools (www.cotus.ford.com, wwwqa.cotus.ford.com, www.cotusb.ford.com, www.ordertracking.ford.com) do not work for the Edge. Don't even bother. Ask your dealer before you put a down payment how many Edges they had allocation for in the last month. Ask how many special orders are ahead of you that have not been scheduled yet. (only do this if you have a deadline like an expiring lease, these questions kind of make the dealer look at you funny) Dealers get allocation for the week on Wednesday. So they normally submit orders on Wednesday. They can do it any time, but don't get upset if they don't submit it right away. You can ask your dealer for a DORA or the order # as soon as they place the order (You'll need the dealer code/ID too. You can find it here: http://www.fleet.ford.com/fleetdealers/). Scheduling of orders happens Thursday night. So it's best to ask for order status updates on Fridays. FordService on this board will help you track your order if you PM them once a week (they're out of the office indefinitely as of today, but they should come back) If not, you can send a Tweet to @FordService or send a direct message after you follow one another. There is also a 1800 # (1 (800) 392-3673) but I found their status updates to be behind. The phone # did not know that the order was scheduled to a week or a day. Ford's delivery ETA once your car is scheduled to a day may change, once it's built, it seems to be accurate for 90% of people. You can get your window sticker if you have a VIN about a week before your scheduled build date using this tool: http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Ford.html I was trying to find a delivery checklist to go over for production issues before you sign for your car. If somebody has that, it'd be good to post here. The best advice I can give is figure out exactly what options/accessories you want before walking into the dealer. Go to Truecar.com and find out the average selling prices and invoice. Set a target (make a reasonable offer below your target, dealers will not negotiate if you don't make an initial offer that is near what they can sell it for) and reservation price and be prepared to walk out if the dealer can't beat your reservation (maximum price). Have the dealer write down everything they promised on paper including the out the door price before putting down a deposit. If you hate negotiating, go to blueovalforums.com and get an X-plan PIN or join a club that has that as a member benefit. As an added benefit, by using the X-Plan PIN, the dealer has to show you the actual invoice which will show the MSRP, invoice, X, D, and A plan prices as well as dealer holdback. It's nice to know. (Note: the actual invoice will not be available until the dealer is billed for your order, which is the date your window sticker becomes available) Here's my favorite part... Ford's private cash offers. Ford offers private cash offers on random if you request brochures on Ford's web site. (search for "ford edge brochure" on google for the link). From my extensive testing it took around 2-3 weeks to receive a brochure. About 1/4 of the brochures I ordered had the private cash offer. By the time I received the brochure with the offer, it would expire in about 2 weeks. I found out that if you called Ford customer service # (1 (800) 392-3673) and asked nicely a day after requesting a brochure online and asked the rep if I had any private cash offers available, they'd provide the same private cash # that would come in the brochure. This would give you a total of about 4-5 weeks to use the private cash offer. Currently Ford is offering $750 private cash for the Edge in certain markets. I cannot confirm that my strategy worked, but I got a private cash offer for the Edge (or any Ford) by requesting an Edge brochure. I got another private cash offer for a Mustang (or any Ford) by requesting a brochure for a Mustang. I received no private cash offers for the F150, Fusion, Escape, or Explorer. My best guess is that they give out more private cash offers for the models that are selling the slowest for the season (Mustang in the winter) I requested many more Edge brochures than anything else.

Edge Sport Privacy Glass
cab2g replied to davidceder's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
From the look of it, my rear tint is about 20% from the factory. I tinted the front windows too, but I had to go lighter because of local tint laws. I wish I lived in the south where dark tint was legal in the front! It really makes the car look so much more complete to have tint all the way around. -
FordService may not be checking the board for awhile. I don't know if they're back, but they stepped out indefinitely in early January. I'd send a Tweet to @FordService to get help. send them a direct message once they follow you if you don't want anybody seeing your tweets.

I've got a LS3 under the hood of my Camaro and I love it every day I drive it. In general I have preferred Ford's designs and feature sets offered more than the rest of the Chevy lineup. When it comes to luxury, I think Lincoln is more of a side act. Cadillac is really stepping up their game. I've owned two toyotas and they are by far my least favorite cars to drive. I don't think they are especially reliable. Electronics broke on both after 8 or so years just like any other car would. Neither of them seemed to be able to heat the car when the wheels weren't moving. The wiper controls are backwards, the intermittent setting that looks to be the widest bar, is actually the slowest, which seems the opposite of what I'm used to. The power windows slow down and speed up depending on how many you are moving. In the Corolla they gave you keyless entry, but not keyless trunk entry... The fuel gauge will say half full when the tank is about 20% full (on both toyotas). So if there's any brand I wouldn't buy it'd be Toyota. My other car was a Mazda pickup truck, that is just a rebadged Ford ranger. The only problem I had with that was the EGR valve failed after 6 years and there was a recall on the wiper motor. My Camaro had a throttle body failure before 36,000 miles but after 3 years by 3 months and it was not covered under the powertrain warranty. My key FOB was recalled as part of the ignition switch controversy. Their solution was to take out the switch blade key and not provide any filler to prevent dust and crud from gathering in the FOB and providing a separate key. GM pissed me off with that one. The buttons on the FOB wore holes in them after about 40,000 miles. People love their sports cars and to have an ugly key to look at every day makes me think GM just doesn't get it. A panel in my Camaro also vibrates even with light bass, the dealer couldn't "locate" the vibration and now it has gotten worse and it's no longer under warranty. So technically the Camaro has been the worst to me in terms of reliability. But I still love it because it sounds and looks so beautiful. Based on the feature set of the 2016 Edge. I'd totally buy a Ford again. Ask me again in 6-8 years when I've had to shell out some money for repairs.

What does "Kona Blue" and "Too Good to Be Blue" look like?
cab2g replied to cab2g's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It's definitely one of those colors that looks different when the lighting changes. But it looks blue the majority of the time unless the sun is hitting it directly. Then there is some green to it. -
