Perhaps but I just hope that it is under premium care warranty.100 dollars is a lot more managable than 1000
-
I had taken my Edge to the shop this morning to have the coolant leak and the transmission looked at for its occasional hard shifts. Apparently for the transmission the Center Support is needing to be replaced and they said they have to run it through R&I to see if it would be covered under the premium care. They said that alone would cost almost 1000 dollars if it would not be covered, but the service rep did say he was pretty sure it would be covered. So my question is what exactly is a center support, and what is the likelihood of it not being covered by the Premium Care Extended Service Plan? Also what is R&I?

Semi Urgent Question Regarding Trip to Colorado
tamugrad2013 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Lounge
I thought I would give y'all a little update. L has done well on the really steep parts and grade assist works great on the gentler grades. As for the car it has been very good so far. Only one minor hiccup this morning. I woke up around 5:45 to get ready to head up Pikes Peak. I had to run to Wal-Mart and was headed out of Colorado Springs at 7:00 to be first in line for the road to open at 7:30. Well I got about 2 miles out of town and I get a low tire pressure warning. Only second one since I have had the car. Well found a discount tire got there 45 minutes before they open and waited. Luckily they opened 10 minutes early for me because I was waiting outside. Apparently something with the valve stem became loose causing a slow leak. They fixed it up and I was out of the store 10 minutes after they "Officially" opened and free of charge. -
Semi Urgent Question Regarding Trip to Colorado
tamugrad2013 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Lounge
Well I appreciate the quick response. I will try and get some pics of the Edge in the mountains and national parks. I love that this car looks great all the time especially in pictures. -
Good evening, I am heading to Colorado tomorrow morning and have never been so I have a few questions. I am planning on staying in Colorado Springs. First off I know to use a low gear when going down hills so when I start going down should I start it in low or shift down to low when needed. Second part on this is how slow do I need to be going to shift down into low. Since I have the 2012 Ecoboost I do not have the manual mode just L with hill assist. Second Question. Will the 4 cylinder have issues in the higher elevations of Colorado and would it be advisable to put Higher Octane Fuel in During this trip. I have about 400 miles until I hit Colorado so my tank of 87 octane will be about gone by then. I have never had problems with 87 octane but I feel like 91 or 93 may be best for the higher altitudes. Any advice will be appreciated. When I was up in the Smokey Mountains the car ran great but I never went super high up. Any advice will be appreciated. Many Thanks.

What made you choose your Edge?
tamugrad2013 replied to Edgy Girl's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
I guess I have never said this but when I started shopping I had 5 cars on my list and honestly an Edge was not one of them. I looked at a Passat TDI, Nissan Murano, Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota Venza. I test drove at least one of each of the following and three different Escapes. I loved the Escape and MFT and all the awesome tech, but I was leary about getting a 2013. I've always been told to hold off on a first year model or to even wait for a refresh. Well my mom finally saw an Edge and said it looked bigger. I liked the size but really wanted at least the same gas mileage as the car I was getting rid of and the V6 just didn't get quite that. Well I test drove two V6 Edges one a CPO 2011 SEL and one a CPO 2012 Limited. I loved the way if felt and drove. Didn't like the SEL because it didn't have nav or the vista roof and didn't like the gas mileage. Well lucky enough one day when I was doing a test drive blitz in Fort Worth I test drove a 2011 Sport Fully loaded. Loved to again, but not the mileage. My brother luckily found a 2012 CPO Limited Ecoboost. Gas Mileage was high enough for me and I loved to way it handled and felt. I finally found my ride. Did the deal and drove it home that night. Had to drive it back to Fort Worth three days later to get a paint touch up on the bumper that was scraped because the car was only traded in that morning and when I came to test drive it it really hadn't even been fully detailed and their was no stickers or anything. I feel lucky to have found it. The only car I really think I would have liked better was a BMW 335d that I test drove, but it was to small for me and I would have had to wait at least 8 months save up for a X5 35d. I also think I lucked out on maintenance costs. Needless to say that is my story. Been the owner now for 2 and a half years and am looking forward to at least 8 more years if not longer. -
I do not know about the card noise all I can think of is it the DI. I haven't ever heard anything other than that. I also rarely hear the turbo on acceleration unless I am under a bridge or when I was driving in the mountains and tunnels of North Carolina.

Temperature has always stayed normal and air conditioning has always been really strong in the brutal Texas summers and all other times. I mean since it is still under the premium care warranty it won't hurt to have it looked at. Just hate going to this particular dealer because they always want to up sell you on something. Last time they said I needed a wheel alignment because the tires have uneven tread wear. I told them I would look into it on a day I had more time. Next time I got my tires rotated about two weeks later I asked the Discount Tire person if the tires were wearing unevenly and they said no they are wearing fine. I really don't like being lied to. I am not sure if I want to do this since it is still under the premium care warranty. I will look into it though. Thanks for the tip.

Good Afternoon. I was wondering if anyone with the 2.0 L Ecoboost has had any coolant leaks. Mine is a 2012 and it always seemed to lose a little coolant and I would have to top it off maybe a half a cup every 6 months. Well it was looked at back during the summer of 2014 and a coolant hose was replaced and it still seemed a little low so I top it off. Well I was checking it again today since my last check about three months ago and the reservoir was bone dry. It has never overheated and the temperature always stays spot on halfway between hot and cold. I have an appointment scheduled for June 13th and just want some pointers before I take it in and to know if anyone else has had this problem. I definitely do not think it is mixing with the oil because it looks fine correct viscosity, smell, and look. Thanks in Advanced.

I have been to two auto shows in the past month the Austin Auto Show and the Dallas Auto Show and I sat in both the new Edge and The new MKX. First about the MKX. It looked great in the interior and seemed really well put together, but I could not get the drivers seat comfortable. This was mainly a lumbar issue and no matter how much I moved it back and away it still protruded and killed my back. I was wondering if there was something I was missing. As for the Edge if I was going to be purchasing a Second Gen Edge it would be a hard sell. I feel like the front seats are much narrower than my current 2012 and I feel like it is not as spacious. I guess it is good My Edge only has 60,000 miles on it and it will be at least another 6 to 8 years before I am looking for a replacement. Just my thoughts.

iOS 9.3 and Bluetooth Calling Issues
tamugrad2013 posted a topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
So I know the Siri Eyes Free problem has been fixed with the iOS 9.3 but I have now started having another problem with bluetooth. If I am bluetooth streaming and then use voice commands to place a phone call it will say calling so and so and then after 5 seconds the phone will completely disconnect from bluetooth and not place the call. If I am also bluetooth streaming and receive a text message it will play the noise and show I have a message on the dash and the main screen but within a few seconds the phone disconnects again. This is not a good thing especially when I use bluetooth calling or streaming just about everyday in the car. I am again assuming this is an Apple issue, but would like to know if anyone else is having this issue in their phone/vehicle. I just updated my phone to iOS 9.3.1 this morning and will test if that makes any difference. -
So this past week I took some used dryer sheets and warm water and a microfiber clothe and went to town on the old gal's front chrome. Well the bugs and grime came off so effortlessly and looked amazing I was wondering if it would work well on the wheels. I know that it is not bug grime on the wheels but I feel like the same concept may hold true. Let me know what you think.

Siri Eyes Free and iOS 9.2
tamugrad2013 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I was mistaken. After I updated my phone it somehow changed my settings and only allowed bluetooth calling but not bluetooth streaming so it worked perfectly until I tried streaming again. Then the next time I tried it while I was listening to another source it changed to bluetooth streaming so no go. I hope iOS 9.3.2 is released soon. -
Siri Eyes Free and iOS 9.2
tamugrad2013 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I updated my phone to 9.2.1 Friday Night and I have used Siri Eyes Free two days about 7 times to test it out and it has worked flawlessly. I do not know if it has been just a 7 time trial fluke, but I will continue to test it out this week. -

Fuel Pump – 2014-2015 Ford & Lincoln recall
tamugrad2013 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
You know i have a 2012 Ecoboost and the fuel pump failed. Luckily it was under warranty, and don't have to dig up paperwork, I wonder if more than just 2014's are really affected. -
Siri Eyes Free and iOS 9.2
tamugrad2013 replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No problem I hope that it is fixed soon though. -
So I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it appears that after upgrading my iPhone 6s to iOS 9.2 every time I activate Siri through the voice command button it just automatically changes the source to bluetooth streaming. This appears to be an iPhone problem and not a Sync problem. I know people on the Escape forum are experiencing the same issues since updating their phone. It also appears to be an issue on Chevy's as well. I just wanted to let you know and hopefully Apple will find a fix quickly because I am really enjoying the eye's free function.

My first car was a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. I regret buying that car the second time I ever drove it. Had to have the transmission rebuilt at 56,000 miles and bought it with 53,000. Lower intake manifold had to be replaced at 70,000 and the entire computer system had to be redone with 102,000 miles also various other issues. It was a boat of a car and was so slow, although I regretted buying it it was my car through college and high school and it got me through my first 6 months of my new job after graduation. I really am glad that I had a car and it got me to where I needed to go and am very fortunate to have a great Ford Edge now. My dad sold it to a local used car lot in our hometown almost two years ago and I have started seeing it around town again recently. I have to good luck to the new owners your going to need it.

New Sync Version (Gen2 - V3.8)
tamugrad2013 replied to bce's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Successfully updated this morning took 27 minutes and I am already loving SIRI Eyes Free. Unfortunately the back up camera lines are still missing. I guess I am going to have to keep my appointment on the 24th of October. Hopefully this will be covered under premium care.
