  1. Any further updates on the transmission. Have you had it looked at. I have been driving mine like an old granny lately trying to get at least 24 mpg on my 11 mile on way mostly city commute lately and it seems to like to be driven that way. Just wanted to see what yours was up to as of late.
  2. I have a 2012 with the Ecoboost engine and it did this for a while. I posted a topic on the FWD section of the forum. It had quite a bit done at the dealer thankfully all covered under warranty. From what I can say is that it has gotten quite a bit better since the 20 day stay in July, but it still occasionally has a hard upshift or downshift. Since mine is under the premium care warranty for another three years or until 100,000 miles if I have to take it in for anything else soon I will mention it again. I honestly think it is a calibration issue or a programming update, but I am no mechanic by any means. Mine has about 68,000 miles on it right now. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/20674-center-support-replacement/ Also remember that this transmission was co-devloped with GM so anytime it gives me a hiccup I just assume thats the GM coming out in it.
  3. I had the Sirius for the 3 month trial when I purchased mine and then again for 6 month trial when I had a service done for free at the dealership I brought it from. In all that time maybe used it twice. I don't feel that it is really great. The only thing I liked about it was the Travel Link for the live gas prices and traffic which worked well, but gas buddy replaces gas prices and I'll live without live traffic. I find any podcast/pandora/tunein all work great with bluetooth streaming especially since the most recent update of MyFordTouch that hooks up bluetooth streaming immediately when the phone pairs for calling. I haven't done much research, but if I could get travel link for 10 bucks or so a month I may consider it but that is still a big if. Just my 2 cents.
  4. Definitely have been weighing my options. We have until November to start the process. Ive tested the water and searched on Autotrader and I have found a few gems with 80,000 to 100,000 miles that I think would be pretty reliable in the long run. I know that if this does come to fruition I won't actually be looking at cars until mid October. Four I found so far that I really liked were as follows. 1996 Nissan Maxima with 76,000 Miles 2005 Madza6 S Wagon with 96,000 miles. (Second favorite because its a wagon and has a lot of space like the Edge) 2003 Subaru Forester 2.5X with 103,000 miles (My favorite so far because it does have a stick and it is a CUV) 2001 Lexus ES 300 with 94,000 Miles. The other two are pretty much tied both seem like reliable types of vehicles. If I were to get really interested I would take the ones I really liked to a trusted mechanic to do a once over. I also have to consider how long it will take to pay off my Edge. after this month I will only owe 13,000 left on it and I am pretty sure I can scrape that together in less than two years.
  5. This is definitely not set in stone yet, but I may be selling my Edge to my parents. Long story short my Moms 2011 Audi A3 TDI is under the buyback program for dieselgate and she will be getting about 19,500 if she lets them buy it back which is almost 11,000 more than it is worth. I have always loved my car, but I am working really hard to get out of debt. So if they buy mine for about 18,500 I will have about 6500 to get a cash car so I will only have some student loans left. I am debating right now as is my mom because she is used to getting around 40 mpg highway which is what she mostly drives while mine driving like she does will only get about 29-31 mpg highway. She already found a C-Max Hybrid she likes. I just don't know how to advise her. I've already found a few cars I like that I could live with for the next four years as I save up to get a little nicer car with cash. I just was wondering if y'all had any thoughts. If she keeps her car they will fix the emissions which they haven't stated what that is yet, but I am guessing it will be DEF tank and loss of a spare tire and a change in the emissions system which will mean less mpg and less power. We will only get $5600 if we go the fix the diesel route in addition to it being fixed.
  6. If it is the same as the 2012 you need to go into the settings menu on the left screen on the MFT display. And somewhere in there is the setting for traction control. It is also stated in the owners manual.
  7. Good Morning I am going to be getting new tires on the Edge here in the next few weeks I'm down to 3/32'nds in the rear and 2/32nd's in the front. So I figured once I get moved and situated I will buy new tires. I will only buy tires from Discount Tire, because I have never had anything but awesome service from more that 6 different locations. So I just wanted to know some input on quality tires that are not to pricey. I'm thinking from 160 to 190 per tire. I really prefer comfort to sporting and definitely all season. The Michelin Latitude X Green tires that came new when I brought the car have been ok, but haven't lasted as long as I would like only about 52,000 miles so far (This is partly my fault for not getting them rotated as often as I should). I had a previous set of Yokohama tires on my Monte Carlo and I had almost 4 years on them and 85,000 miles before I had to replace them. I just wanted some input. These are the ones I am leaning towards so far. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?c=0&rcz=79762&ar=60&rf=true&rd=18&rc=TXOINT&cs=245&dVeh=dVeh&ra=filterTireProducts.do&fl=&tc=YOKRHI&yr=2012&pc=24269&vid=020482
  8. I know often times if I am starting my Edge and the door won't unlock it almost always has to do with me putting the key in the same pocket as my cell phone. Cell phones sometimes interfere with the Intelligent Key

    Waving?

Come on down to Texas and it won't matter what you drive you rarely go on a trip and not get waved at.
  10. My best cabin air filter story is when I had my Edge in for free oil change from the dealer I brought it from, they came into to waiting area filter in hand showing me how dirty it was and to change it for "only" 89.99 Oh the joy I got when I told them no you can go put that back where you got it from and I will stop at O'Reilly's on the way home and pop one in. Once you do it twice its at max a 5 minute job and only costs as much as the filter.
  11. Ok great news got my car back this morning after 20 long days. Thankfully it seems to be running great and the transmission is smother than I have felt it before. It is so nice to be riding up high again in the Edge. I felt like I was dragging the ground in the focus. Below is the list of all components that were replaced. I will put part numbers and service numbers as follows. Part Number/Quantity/Part Name 7000F Automatic Transmission Electronic Diagnosis 7000A Automatic Transmission Assembly Remove and Install or Replace 7000AZJ Automatic Transmission Assembly Remove and Install or Replace BB5Z7153F x 1 (Kit-Gasket) CV6Z7B164A x 5 (Plate Say- Drive) 9L8Z7B442E x 5 (Driven Plate-Steel) XT10QLVC (Oil Automatic Transmission) BB5Z7902F x 1 (Converter Asy) AL8Z7G391C x 1 (Solenoid Asy) CV6Z7A100B x 1 (Control Assembly) 700A11 (Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler and/or Cooler Lines - Flush 700A13C Automatic Transmission Main Control Valve Assembly - Overhaul Only had to pay $100 for the ESP Deductible. No real total on the invoice, but I can assume it would have been in the thousands. I will report back on that once it is finalized in the owner.ford.com website. I do believe that the ESP has paid for itself now. I am also happy that the car now has had a transmission flush done on it through the warranty
  12. Good News from the dealer on Friday. I spoke to them in person and they had it put back together and test drove it and they didn't like the way it was doing 6-4 downshifts. Upon further testing they decided to replace the valve body in the transmission. I spoke with them at 2:30 and the service rep said that they still needed to get approval from Ford for the ESP, and since it was going into a holiday weekend that would probably not happen until The 5th. I was perfectly understanding with this and I felt like I had a lot of questions answered. But here is the real kicker. about 45 minutes after I left the dealership a service rep called me to give me an update saying he just got off the phone and the part was approved for the ESP and was ordered and would be in tomorrow morning. They stated that the tech would be in tomorrow morning to install it and test it out and that I should have my baby back before 1:00 pm on Saturday. This excites me because we had a new gas station come into town and they are taking 20 cents off per gallon which make 93 octane the same I would normally pay for 87 so I am going to treat her with a tank of the good stuff. I have never ran 93 through it and I am excited to see if there are any differences . So I am still in the Focus. I don't mind it too much and it does get great gas mileage 38 mpg on the last fill up
  13. I may actually stop by tomorrow I need something out of the car anyway so that'll be a good excuse.
  14. I'll call tomorrow afternoon for an update. I don't want them to think that I am bugging them, but now being 18 days till I move I am getting a little panicked.
  15. Still waiting on the car. We are now in Day 14. This must have really been a big job. I am anxious to see the parts manifest and what they had to replace. I will be calling again tomorrow if I haven't heard anything by then. I was told Monday that it should be ready by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday barring any complication. I know that most of the city lost electricity for about an hour and a half on Tuesday so that amy have caused some delays. I will keep y'all posted.
  16. I kinda figured that may be the case too because the key battery normally only last me about a year before needing to be changed and since I leave the spare it doesn't get used very often anyway.
  17. Hahaha not really the point but haha. Well this was the second time it had to be done due to an incompetent dealer previously doing it and not getting it done right. Should have known when the service brakes warning was on when I got in the car. It turned off 3 minutes later. This dealer is properly through hear in College Station. I also had a "great" Hyundai Accent to drive around in. Thank god I have a Ford Focus while it is in the shop now.
  18. So last time my Edge was in the shop they had it about three days to fix the brake booster. When I went to pick it up they said it wouldn't start and just gave them no key detected error. Well I had my set on me and gave it to them and it started right up. I always leave the extra set with the dealer so I have my house key. If i am not mistaken the intelligent key sends a signal when you are close to the car so you can unlock it with the door handle and continues to send the signal so you can start the car. Well I saw today when I went to get my cell phone charger and sunglass case out of the car the key was left in the car. So I am assuming this is what is caused the key fob battery to go flat last time. If this is the case I would like to know so I can at least let the service advisor know so maybe they will learn not to leave the fob in the car or at least know that it is just the fob battery that is causing the car not to start.
  19. Yes I have done this and almost every one I select is for the tailgate of the F series or not specific for my Edge or any Edge. I have dug a little deeper and found the part number on the ford owners website and it looks to be a 27 dollar part. I will be purchasing it at the dealer and will be using the write up from strike2tamu did on removing the front emblem,
  20. Holy crap you just made me feel a lot better about how much time it is taking I feel a lot more knowledgable now as well. I truly appreciate your help with that. I feel so much smarter now. Since this transmission was co-devloped with GM I am just going to assume that GM is the ones that designed those parts since I am no GM fan. This is one of the many reasons I am part of the Ford Edge and Ford Community in General. Thank You
  21. I hear ya. Haha. I also have been told it the center support was the issue and then the service rep said it was the center carrier. I still can't find much information about this online. If mine was an AWD I would know what it was, but I have no Idea. He did say it was a internally lubricated part of the transmission. I just don't know. I feel pretty knowledgeable about cars, but this one really has my head scratching.
  22. Day 5 of my Edge in the shop. I hope to hear something of an update today. I called Saturday before they closed for the weekend and they said no update. It was just taking a long time because of going through the premium care warranty. Hopefully I can get it back soon. The Focus is wearing on me a little bit. Still gets me where I need to go and I am averaging 36 mpg, but the dual clutch transmission is way to unrefined especially compared to my moms Audi A3 TDI with the DSG Gear Box. I will continue to keep y'all posted.
  23. I guess I can get one on the fordparts website.
  24. I am searching the interwebs for a replacement front emblem for my Edge. I noticed that the emblem has paint chipped off of it yesterday when I sent it o the dealer. I cannot find a front emblem online and was wondering if anyone had found one. Also are there any suggestions for removal and installation of the new one. Thanks
  25. The service rep said he is almost sure it will be covered hopefully will have her back tomorrow but for the time being a get to putt around in a little gold 2015 Focus. Pretty Darn Comfy for a small car.
