Auto start works, but no heat/defrost/heated seat
Mirage52 replied to Mirage52's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Just went out to car to check. Yes, it's set to AUTO under the auto start options. -
I own a 2017 Titanium AWD with V6 engine. Yesterday it was 32 degrees in the morning so I used auto start and let car run for around 6-7 mins. I got inside and noticed there was no heat/defrost blowing and no heated seat or steering wheel. Same thing happened this morning. This worked last winter, but over the summer I hit a deer and the vehicle went into the body shop and I also changed a battery not soon after. I am thinking one of these could have contributed to the heat/defrost not working with auto start now. Any suggestions?

So an update on this thread. Here it is 2020 and I still have the same problems with the friggin air temperature sensor. Vehicle is now out of warranty so I called Ford and told them I've had this issue since I bought the car and they haven't been much help but they did give me discounted pricing for the labor and covered a portion of the cost. But 3 times I've had the car in for service to fix this issue and still nothing. Literally the next day after i get car back it still does same thing. 90 degrees out? AC shuts off and I feel the air change and look and sure enough, thermometer is reading like 28 degrees. If you are driving in city traffic, forget about it. It'll take 15 mins to update, if that. Just called Ford again, I'm pissed. I want this car in the shop and don't want it back until it's fixed. I want a loaner. This is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again only to get the same exact results!

Hearing squealing/groaning from wheels & steering
Mirage52 replied to Mirage52's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Actually, they replaced the bearing and the noise was still there. They said a CV boot is rubbing/making contact somewhere. Running it up the Ford hotline to see how to proceed. The noise sounded really bad yesterday. -
Hearing squealing/groaning from wheels & steering
Mirage52 replied to Mirage52's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
It was a bad wheel bearing. They had to drive it for around 30-40 mins in order for the noise to become noticeable. -
I only have 10.5K miles on a 2017 Edge Titanium AWD and it'll be headed back to the dealer for a second time in less than a year. On long drives greater than an hour I hear what sounds like squealing/groaning while braking and steering to the right or left, but mostly toward the right. Sounds localized to the front right wheel but the sound also reverberates from the engine/steering. Was thinking it could be a stuck caliper, or a wheel bearing. Over the weekend I did feel a little pulsation in the pedal at crawling speeds but it has since stopped. Any ideas?

Slightly worse. I am chalking up the differences between FWD in the '13 and AWD in the '17 but I feel a slight wheel shimmy in the '17 when on the highway. Never felt anything in the '13. It was like driving a cloud. Also feels like it has less giddy-up in low RPM's but again I chalk that up to the AWD. Overall nothing major but some noticeable differences.

I would also go for the lesser miles, and if they don't provide one, definitely get a Carfax report. We were in a similar situation last year with my wife's VW Eos, we bought same year, same mileage replacement (2012, 80K mi) so we could pay cash with the insurance payout. It passed inspection but then the problems started. So I would take your car to the dealer and have them look it over with a fine tooth comb. It's worth whatever they charge to look at the car. Then you can decide what to fix and what not to fix. We kinda wish we would have bought a newer Eos or even a brand new Audi. You can also ask to be compensated for extra money to pay for that when you go through this idiot's insurance company. That's what we did and they agreed to it, but we did have to take a hard line with them, and it was a work van that hit her so she was able to call the company and tell them her demands.

Are you happy with Edge? Would you buy Edge again?
Mirage52 replied to t0lkman's topic in Owner Impressions
I voted yes, as I am currently on my second Edge. First one was a 2013 SEL FWD. Traded it in with 55K miles and never had one issue with it. It was the perfect car. However, I always wanted a Limited/Titanium with the bells and whistles since mine lacked AWD and a sunroof. So now I own a 2017 Titanium AWD and have had it for about 6 months. The drawbacks from my old car come from lacking the amenities that the newer one has but I think the older version had the following better things: - seats were more comfortable - passenger seat folded flat forward - better gas mileage/more power, assuming this comes from FWD - better rear camera - smoother ride (also might come from FWD) Overall, I love the 2017 Edge, and all the bells and whistles. I do just wish I had gotten a Limited with everything back in 2013. It would be paid off in December. -
It was a bad connection at the harness. I knew that it would be a connection issue. Getting it back today. I had a loaner from the dealer, a Fusion Sport, man that thing flies.

No. I drove it home from dealer last night, it lowered to about 58 degrees. This morning it read 68 and lowered to about 60. Still 30-40 degrees off.

Had it in at the dealer, they replaced the sensor, told me that there were no more codes, check engine light was out...so what happens when I get back into the car? See that the sensor is still reading 80 degrees when it's really 28. I tell the guy at the dealer and he just sighs. Looks like this will be a lingering issue...taking it back to the dealer once they get a loaner.

Edge Sport looks great in any color.

Had the local Autozone pull the code. Outside air temp sensor. Service at a more convenient dealer on Monday. It was funny. Went in and asked the guy if he could pull a code. He asked what year was the car. I said 2017. He was like, already? After he was like, "boy I sure would be upset if my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium was throwing codes all ready." I was like, "me too."

I have changed it but it won't save. Anyway, the check engine light came on this morning and now the gauge seems to be stuck on 50 degrees. I'll try disconnecting and reconnecting the negative cable on the battery tonight but my guess is that the sensor is shot or something is bad with the connection.
