  1. How do you re-calibrate the stick? I just checked my tranny fluid, drove home from work 18 miles, turned the car off but then on again, shifted in to each gear then checked. Maybe I'm unsure how to read the dipstick when holding it vertical the fluid sits below the Min mark but there IS some fluid covering the regular mark (x's). I attached a picture of the dipstick (the picture was taken while holdng the distick vertical). the middle (normal level) DOES have fluid on it but the bulk of the fluid is below the MIN mark. If the dipstick should be read horizontal then that might explain the false negative but I am not sure. I don't think the manual does a great job explaining.
  2. here is what I have found. Even though I have no issues at accelaration after a full stop....Is this it? tsb13-03-18 Ford Edge 2011-12 PCM Reprogram.pdf
  3. Another question, Whenever I start driving after the car has been sitting for a while (3-4 hours), the brakes slip a little when coming to a stop, I can feel it on the peddle and hear the rubber. This happens for the first couple of braking attempts and then goes away. Could this just be due to brake dust? Does this happen to everyone else?
  4. Thanks for answering my question, I'll definitely keep the WD40 off of the rotor...haha
  5. There is some squeaking coming from either my wheel area when I lightly press the brake at very slow speeds. It goes away once I start cruising and does not come back even at the same slow speeds unless I park an turn off the car off and do it over again at a later time. I take my car for full inspection and maintenance *regularly* so the brakes should still be in normal working condition. If anyone wants to take a stab at what they think the cause could be I'm all ears. My question is, can WD40 be used on the calipers, shocks, struts and around the axels as a start? I imagine that the obvious answers would be yes but I wanted to confirm. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for all of the responses, I already use google maps on my phone and it works just fine! Just wanted to explore other options where I don't have to plug something in and mount it..
  7. Sorry that I am asking the same question but it's better than creating another thread... I have a Ford certified pre-owned 2011 Edge SEL but it only missing NAV (it's just "info"). Can I get NAV put in? I've been told no but I can't imagine why not....
  8. My problem started yesterday, I signaled right and it stayed on while entering the freeway of all places. As an IT tech my first thought was reboot!. I pulled over turned the car off back on and the problem went away, I tested a few more times and it was good since (about 11 hours). Should I expect this to happen again? When these parts malfunction is it physical or say a piece of dust getting in the way of a connection or something??
  9. Thanks all! What is the TSB and where can I find it?
  10. Been noticing that my transmission is slipping a little more lately. I notice some slippage only when in heavy stop and go traffic, I slow down and then press the gas, the transmission slips and then a thump. It's very rare that it happens and only happens when in motion so I kind of chalk it up to the heavy traffic.. Today however I noticed for the first time it slipped while going down the street after I slowed down and pressed the gas again, no stop and go traffic this time... Also from time to time I notice the transmission does not switch gears smoothly, the transmission would switch gears with a pause in between them. This happens most of time although not all of the time and it seems as though it depends on how much gas I'm giving it and seems to always happen if I'm going uphill. In all my years of driving I have never noticed this in car. I am still under the maintenance plan so supposedly my car is well maintained and transmission fluid should be good. Is this normal or should I be bring my car in?
  11. Can someone explain the oiling part? Should a stock filter be oiled also? or at least at the edges? Has anyone noticed a difference in engine sound?
  12. I bought a 2011 pre-owned last and already had the roof fixed once (thank goodness it was still under warranty) it ends up that one of the cables which attached to the motor wore out and had to be replaced. The tracks should already be greased as they are on mine but I also add some WD40 (which the maintenance people approved of) to the joints and fittings which ride along the rail. I also noticed that the rear arms which slide all the way to the back, ride in between two rubber seals located on the roof. Those seals can become a little sticky and also contribute to slowing down the roof when it closes so I wipe them with regular Vinyl/rubber cleaner to make them more slippery and it will also keep the rubber in good shape. I can take a picture of them if you need me to.
  13. That's a great idea! but does the drop in panel filter make much of a difference in HP and engine sound?
  14. Was just researching these and I love the sound that the the K&N air intake produces, but I also found out that they are not legal in California. So now I am looking at the panel air filter and wondering if it will produce the same deep sound for my Edge? Anyone have any experience with this?
  15. You both already answered my question. Thanks!
  16. Oil life on my 3.5L engine is at 19% but I do not have time to change it for another week and a half. Would this be okay?
  17. Thank you for the responses. Can anyone recommend the best solution to clean these seats with? I bought these leather wipes which I think are pretty weak. I was thinking of moving to cream based solution versus water based..
  18. I do need to remove the glove box to get to the filter but I already replaced it. The service center also found a leak in the power steering fluid and I am thinking that can have something to do with since the reservoir and hose look pretty close to where the AC unit would be...
  19. My car is already at the service center and this was their diagnoses. Thank you!
  20. Seems that the issue was a worn out cable on the right side and one other worn out component. Disappointing that 2 year old car can have an issue like this in a city where it doesn't even rain that often...
  21. I have the Edge SEL and I am wondering exactly what kind material the seats consist of. My front seats are soft and "leathery" in some areas and harsh almost like vinyl in other areas. the back seats are perfect..My car is pre-owned and thinking it could be sun damage? I'd like to know what my best options are for cleaning the front seats.
  22. I've had the same problem. My car is being serviced by Ford as we speak. They told me that I had a minor power steering fluid leak and fixed the issue. I am hoping that was the cause of the smell or else I'll be stumped. I will let you know when I get the car back.
  23. The technician told me that the drainage was working properly and they deoderized the system. He also mentioned that there was a minor power steering fluid leak. Since the reservoir seems close to AC intake vent and system, I am wondering if this could have been the cause for the smell.. getting the car back today and hopefully no more smell!
  24. Thank you all. My car is now being serviced by Ford. Should most likely be a drainage issue and they will be deodorizing the AC system.
  25. I have the SEL series and when I switch off the AC, the air coming out of the vent starts to smell very bad for the next 15 minutes. I replaced the filter and the problem is still there. Now for the first time, the smell is starting to occur every 5 minutes when the AC is running. Air recirculation does not make a difference. My car is covered by Ford but I just wanted some ideas. I am worried that Ford will not be able to pinpoint the problem as I hear other people's stories.
