  1. Well a minor issue with radio. I can not see the display. Seems to have a display but very very faint. Thankfully I have things preset but if I loose power I will not be able to see to redo the presets. Anyone experience this or know what the problem is?
  2. The end of the year is near. Edge starts, runs, turns and stops. Just like it has done for the last 6 years. Next week another 1k miles and off to the races again. Wonder if I will hit 300K by Oct or Nov time?
  3. I think I will just stick to the FWD edge just not interested in the repair bills.
  4. Just wish there was a way to update the thread title to "what to expect at 260,000 miles" I am beginning to think I am going to take this car down the road for a while longer and now believe the 500K might be in the light at the end of the tunnel. I fuly expect to be over 300K this time next year, easily.
  5. Safety note: don't go playing with it and removing the tensioning system devices unless you are really sure you know what you are doing.
  6. I would check the wheel bearing axel nut and make sure it is at spec for Ft lbs. Then torque it more about another 10. Or replace the wheel bearing. Had the same problem and once retorqed tighter the noise stopped.
  7. Some ways to prevent injector issues "I believe" is to use good gas. I use Shell and Top Tier gas almost always. I have also on about 6 occasions used fuel injector cleaners over the couter types. I also drive hundreds of miles a day on interstates and that alone allows for consistant high temps and is 100 percent better for an engine than driving three miles and shutting it off then three miles and shutting it off. I still get up to 400 miles a tank if I go to the E, but generally run 350 to 380 before refueling. Of course results will vary for how you use your Ford Edge. For me it works.
  8. Having struck or hit my fair share of deer with far more damage I have never had an airbag deployment. Body of the deer and the fact that the legs are so thin is not enough to deploy the air bags almost always. I have seen many other cars in Iowa that have struck deer and no air bag deployment. Big difference in another car, immovable object etc strikes. Biggest concern is when they come at you through the windsheild.
  9. Not sure, but could it possibly be water in the fuel? Cleaning injectors? I guess I forgot to do that 262,000 miles in row. Living on a prayer. LOL
  10. Don't know. Have never cleaned the engine. Seems to run fine dirty or uncleaned.
  11. Semi Metalic pad? You could always try ceramic. I went ceramic for my trailblazer and the sqeeky noise went away. I have semi metalic on my Edge, but i never really use the brakes so they do not sqeek much.
  12. Received recall letter from Ford today in the mail for the gas tank. Whatever you do, do not get in a hurry. Expected parts availablity is worded as "late third quarter of 2015" For those of you with leaks you can take it in and they will apply JB Weld on it and patch ya up, just don't smoke or drive ahead of anyone throwing their cigs out the window. LOL
  13. I used to say I would drive it till the wheels, tranny or engine fall off or out. So far none of the mentioned parts have done that. Although I have completely rebuilt the front suspension components. After a chrysler, Suzuki, and Chevy the Ford has so far gone the furthest with the least number of non consumable repairs.
  14. Or just mangnitize it yourself not all that difficult.
  15. Still waiting for the recall to reach the dealers. Nothing has come up yet. Might have to run a plastic gas can to the back with a make shift pump to get around. NOT!! Just wish they would get going already.
  16. Once a vehicle is in a salvage yard it most likely should stay there.
  17. It could have been a bad mould pouring process and the aluminium is porus due to air contamnation, which could result in leakage. This would of course be difficult to discover as it would involve the destruction of the wheels.
  18. I did not see the oil. That being said the same folks that change it have been changing it for as long as I have owned it. They are usually pretty good and informing me of visiable color changes in the vehicle fluids. Never had an issue even once with their services and they were the ones that stressed to me to change over to high mileage oil to help the seal that was leaking.
  19. Oil changed again with High Mileage oil mobil one. Used one quart in 5k miles. ODO reading 259,200 mi. Oil usage a little high based on past changes. This would be the most ever used. I still have not changed out the PCV which is now climbing to the top of the list.
  20. Took my 2008 Edge into dealer service and was told they do not have any information from Ford on what to do. The service tech at the desk said Ford was to put out detailed information by 8 December 2014 so I would have to wait. Good thing I do not believe I am leaking gas or I may be leaking gas and have a molitove cartail for my transportation.
  21. Akirby, My thought exactly. A little research on my part did confirm that Oakville is the only manufacturing location for the Edge.
  22. I called in and was informed to take it to the dealer for inspection. Call center guy could not tell me where the vehicle was manufactured. I would figure Ford could at least tell me this based on the VIN number but apparently this can not be done. I thought this to be rather inexplainable.
