  1. I am a little confused here? If you actually click on the web link it indicates that the Edge is #7 not #1??
  2. Really is what it takes to pair a cell phone? Nice job Ford and thanks for putting such great technology into your vehicles. Our dealer here has indicated that 65% of the problems in the service dept are related to the MFT. This does not only apply to the Edge but all of the products with the option. Next door neighbour just bought a 2014 Explorer and has had it back to dealer 7 times to date with MFT problems. The are now thinking of changing the entire unit in the truck to hopefully correct! Really??? It is not like this just came out in 2014! It has been around long enough to have the problems rectified by now. Best solution is to opt out of this feature and save yourself some grief.
  3. Exactly!! The concept if it goes to production looks like there is not a lot of room behind the back seats. That would be a killer.
  4. Right on!!! The front looks identical? Come on Ford surely you have a better idea design wise rather than copy the Hyundai grill???
  5. Yikes! You are right that is terrible mpg's. I was thinking of buying a new Edge however I have done a lot of research on the internet as well as speaking to owners and the same statement is repeated over and over. "If you are looking for fuel economy look elsewhere. They are brutal on fuel." Just came back from a 650 mile return trip with brother-in-law who has a 2013 Edge SEL AWD. We averaged 24 mpg (figured manually). That was with four adults and luggage in the vehicle and cruise set for 70 mph. Made this same trip in the Spring with my 2010 Santa Fe V6 under same conditions and we averaged 32 mpg. That 8 mpg is a significant difference. However in the defense of the Edge it is a much better ride and comfort experience. But is does come with a cost and it is one that I am not prepared to pay. He has also had trouble with MFT which seems to be predominant in all of Ford's vehicles. Personally I think the new SFS or Kia Sorento is a better bang for the buck.
  6. Hey "Waldo" ...Thank you for the info.
  7. Hi there, Has anyone heard anything about the 2014 models? Checked with local dealer as I am looking to buy. The dealer indicated that they usually hear by now of any changes but it has been quiet. The new 2015 is rumoured to be dropping the V6 and I really am not interested in turbo 4 cyl CUV's. Looked at new Santa Fe but the new turbo is not fuel efficient and the normally aspirated 2.4 is in my opinion is underpowered. If anyone has heard anything maybe you could post. Dealer thinks there is going to short run till new model appears like the F150. However I also read that the 2015 Edge would nkt appear till Spring 2015. Thanks.
  8. The MFT has been a thorn in the side of Ford since it's inception. It is this system that has eliminated the Edge from being a Consumer's Choice in the Consumer Reports magazine as well. I just watched a shoe called "Autoline Detroit: where they had the design enegineers on talking about where these touch screen systems are going for the future. The #1 system is the "Uconnect" found in the Chrysler products per the show and I have had the opportunity to use this system. It is very easy to use and does not require changing screens over and over to make changes to the heat, audio and nav. The MFT is very confusing and can be a major distraction while driving despite the steering wheel controls. My niece and her husband bought a new 2012 MKX and after one year they got ride of it mainly because of the MFT. It was buggy and the fact that they had to constantly change screens to access the features was a nightmare. My niece was actully having to stop to nake heater changes in the winter as she was too distracted. The Ford engineer indicated that they were in the process of revising the system and that it would be much better in the future. Last week my wife and I test drove a new 2013 Edge with the Sync & MFT and we found it to be confusing and would prefer the old btton type functions as well. Don't get me wrong I love the new technology but the MFT in my opinion was not thought out very well and was introduced too soon. I am sure that they will get this sorted out and a new revamped system will be introduced in the next generation of the Ford products. In regards to the lawsuit this is a make money scheme and will probably produce gret benefits for the lawyers. After all it is one of the biggest complaints by the customers since it appeared.
  9. Did that even brought the vehicle home. That is where the problems started. We could not get the four sets in along with the luggage. They did fir corner to corner but that really screws up the cargo area . Also we were concerned about scratching the panels on each side of the area. After we returned the vehicle someone mentioned that what they do is remove the drivers from the bags and they fit between the wheel wells. This will be tried soon to see if it works. Thanks for all the replies ...much appreciated! We do alot of golf trips and we currently own a Hyundai SF. The clubs are no problem in the 2010 SF and we tried them in the new 2013 and still no problem. Thanks again!
  10. Thanks for the reply. Do you lay them corner to corner? Is there still room for luggage if you were heading down the road?
  11. The new 2014 Escapes are now out. The local dealer here has two in stock. So I am sure the Edge will be close behind. New Escapes are offering different options only. Rear view camera will be one of them and will be offered on other models than just the Titanium. Also dropped the SEL as it was too close to Titanium in options.
  12. Just curious? Are those mileage numbers on your trips pulling the 2500 lb trailer?? If so that is great! Do you have the 3.5 FWD or AWD? Nice looking machine!!!!
  13. Hey guys...Thank You for the responses. Guess I will have to bring the Edge home and try some different methods of getting clubs in. Thanks for taking the time to respond as it is much appreciated. I was concerned no one would answer as this forum is kind of quiet.
  14. Hi there owners of the Edge. I have been looking around at the Ford Edge and I have a problem. We currently have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe which has an excellent cargo area that accomodates three sets of golf clubs on the floor between the wheel wells with all the luggage as well. When we looked at the Edge this cannot be done. It looks like you have to put the back seats down in order to carry the clubs in tha back cargo area. The salesman could not beleive it as the Edge does look bigger. We travel a lot with another couple and this would not work. Are there any golffers out there that have experienced this or is there some trick to get the clubs in? Thank you.
