What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Nick Halstead replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
finally got the springs totally installed -
the fact you mentioned a throttle body spacer makes this all a dream. That's the biggest snake oil ever sold.

impossible for the street light to be closer, it moved with the car. if doing it yourself, you have to take out all bolts on lower arm and then drop both rear subframe bolts. ALSO two T45 Torq screws on the sub frame. Those two T45s are the difference between 5hrs and a 30 min job. my drivers side I was trying to not move the subframe and it's more work than what it's worth.

Nice to see people finally doing things to the inside, after almost 2 years, I've ready to change my whole interior.

ev every place will be different for quotes, one shop here in hawaii wanted $500 due to no knowledge of the edge, other shop wanted $240. eventually, I just said screw it and did it in my driveway. I intended to do it myself anyway but, time was going to be a factor and turned into one, so half now, have later...lol front should be done by friday night depending on my work schedule I haven't done the front yet, this is how it sits, the rear is def way lower now. I can't even fit my fist between the wheel well and tire and this is how I suspect the front will drop to judging buy the sema edge that was on HR springs

Anyone have unleashed dyno charts or performance stats
Nick Halstead replied to STB130's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
no, but you can't go off the f150, their engine setup is completely different and also use a total different brand of turbo. gt500r has tunes from both, I wouldn't be shocked if he actually ran both at the track next time. He's the closest your going to get to a track time. I'm gonna try and get a dyno here soon, but I am also FWD, so I wont have the powertrain loss that awd carries, but I sacrifice 0-60 time. -
highway? well that's hard to put a # on cause 1. Hawaii traffic is not predictable and only 2 highways on this rock and more than likely your doing 25-45 instead of the posted 55mph depending upon the time of day. I'd say it's 75% city and 25%highway well if it's true, the majority of us tuned guys pushing almost/or more than 100hp/tq than the stock car came with have faired pretty well so far. Also, though they both use 2.7, the f150 has a different turbo setup and maker (borg warner)
-
now next runs need to be with a tune
-
I get 20.1 mpg tuned. in honolulu, waikiki traffic, wife gets 23
-
the rear turbo is pretty easy, the front is a royal pain in the ass as it's sandwhiched between the motor and fan
-
difference in sound yes. anytime you let of the gas you can hear the turbo's whirl. Here's a video of me getting on it pretty hard to capture it on video. It's really noticiable in real life.
-
I have removed the silencers but not the baffles, the silencers are inside the pipe butted up to the turbo, you can also remove the baffles (2 big circles) by replacing them with a hard pipe

Anyone considered a custom exhaust tip setup?
Nick Halstead replied to LNCHBOX's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
I've almost bought those a few times, but want a 4 and 3 or 3.5 but I am really trying to hold off till I do my exhaust -
various posts on this forum about this, quick rundown though. headlight projectors come in 3 kinds. Halogen, HID, and LED. To get the best usable light, you have to use the bulb it was designed for. a plug in play led bulb for a headlight has basically zero hot spot (hot spot is what throws light down the road) so it literally creates tons of foreground lighting (which is what fog lights are for) which makes your eyes focus on light directly in front of you instead of down the road. Also blinding the hell out of oncoming traffic because the cutoff shield inside the projector was not designed around the bulb. Also...although lots of manufacturer's are using LED headlights. ZERO of them use a LED bulb. which should be a given for people to understand that LED headlight bulbs are useless

due to the angle you would have to completely remove the chrome shroud if your trying to put tips on. Quad is my goal but not till I get an exhaust done. I've had the shroud completely off. But the shroud colormatched to he vehicle makes a huge difference -
Replacing front Grill/ Paint or no paint
Nick Halstead replied to surfer1's topic in Exterior & Body

LED vs HID headlights
Nick Halstead replied to rsto's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
year of vehicle will better allow others to help. I for one don't agree with installing HIDs into Halogen Projectors but people are gonna do what they want regardless my only advice to you is, STAY AWAY FROM DDMTUNING and buy from a company with good customer service like diode dynamics or the retrofit source and don't install LED bulbs. There is a reason no OEM LED headlight uses a bulb. -

yeah...one of these days I will make it to the dyno...lol but even my results will vary cause I'm FWD and most members are AWD -

sorry this PC wont let me quote. @cody James, the best way to do it IMO is to wrap it in vinyl. I hate Dip with a passion but it is very durable, more-so than paint. since it's rubbery it doesn't take on as much damage and when you need to touch up, you just spray where needed. I hate dip though. Vinyl is easy to lay (patience is a must and it does have a learning curve) but you could wrap your whole grille for about $45. -
