HID Lights
PrinzII replied to sonyguy19's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Thus far, the HIDs have worked for me (despite the beam pattern) but I have not been blinked at when I have the low beams on at all. If I have the highs on, that's another story. -
In my case, the tint came on our Edge and it's the legal limit in AZ. However, I am going to redo it because the person who did it at the dealer, did a jacked up job (bottom is peeling) and I am taking it to a shop in Scottsdale I have used previously. I am having them redo the windows and add the blue strip on the top of the windshield.

Interior Light Kit For 2008 Edge
PrinzII replied to NJ08EDGE's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
However, this is for other vehicles such as the F Series. -
First Edge Issue (Minor): ~1700 miles I am noticing that the weatherstripping around my windows is sliding out on the sides. For some odd reason, it is not staying in place and slides out of its location. I am having the dealer check that out.

Ford certified accessory-interior light kit
PrinzII replied to NJ08EDGE's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Not available for the Edge. F Series is definite, though. -
a) Will do. I am interested in finding out where the amp resides anyway. If you look at it that way, I see what you mean. Hardcore it is.

Additionally, definitely make sure that the plug from ballast to harness is seated tightly. I had that problem when installing them but found it was the plug not being seated tightly. -
Lex, One thing is that when you upgrade the speakers, you will want to upgrade the amp down the road. The beauty of what I am doing is that I don't plan to do everything right away. I am doing mine in stages, with the first stage being the head unit. My setup is not considered hardcore because I am not hacking any panels to install any of this equipment.

As for the confirmation, I did not confirm that (yet). I have to go to the dealer today and will probe them on that question. However, I may consider another head unit along with the Eclipse. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5595 This Kenwood's got a few more things that the Eclipse doesn't.

Lex: This is the speaker and amp package I am looking at. Front Stage: Dynaudio Esotec 242 Components http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/auto/esotec/242.php Rear: Morel Tempo 5x7/6x8 Coaxial (Lex, the price on these is really not too bad. In fact, they are at the same price point as the JLs you were looking at) http://www.morelhifi.com/products/mob_poin...kers_tempo.html Amp: Tru Technology S44 http://www.trutechnology.com/products/steel/s44_08.html I thought about getting an 8" sub to complement but this setup is going to be exactly what I want because I will have the sound quality as well as stealth.

tiaquessa: Where did you put your ballasts? Lex: Do you plan to do high beam HID as well? I can honestly say that the lows work well but when the highs are kicked in, it adds a greater dimension to your visibility. -
I have listened to them and they are a pretty decent budget speaker. However, you might want to go for the VR or C5 series.
-
I am considering the amps made by Tru Technology: http://www.trutechnology.com

I am sure it's possible. I am talking with a friend of mine to make some determinations.
-
The sub in the audiophile system is an 8".
-
Is anyone planning to add an amp to their system?

Highs = Treble Mids, or midrange consists of the frequencies starting at 1,000 Hz and up to 9,000 or 10,000 Hz The Infinity Kappas are a good choice but you might want to take a listen to some of the speakers I listed. Especially the Boston Acoustics.

Your beam pattern and mine are the same. I'll post pics later with both high and low beam. I am wondering if we have to make some adjustments since the beam looks like it's going left. -

I have listened to Infinity, JL Audio, Boston Acoustics, Focal, Morel, a/d/s and a few others. The key thing to determine which speaker you will like is your listening habits. Do you want a speaker that will reproduce highs and mids well because you listen to music such as classical or jazz? Do you want a speaker that will have a good bass punch for when you listen to hip-hop, dance music, or hard rock? Do you want a speaker that can do both of the above? As for me, I am looking for a speaker that can handle all of the above. From my listening experience, I like Boston Acoustics, JL Audio (VR and XR Series), Morel, Infinity (Kappa Series), and Diamond. Granted, that is a short list, but the only way to determine what you like is to head to a store and take a quick listen with some decent test material.

HID Lights

For giggles, I took some pics of the beam pattern and I am getting the same kind of scattering that Lex mentioned. However, I do realize that we are putting HIDs in a housing meant for halogens and there can be some variations of results. Therefore, I, as well as other drivers, can live with it. retro: For the High Beams, I took the red rubber seal from the halogens and installed it on the base of the HIDs. I may try that with the low beams to see what happens. tiaquessa: If Ford made the Edge with HIDs, the bulbs would not be H11 or 9005. They would be a variant of a D2 (D2R or D2S) and they can get pretty pricey. For instance, when I had my '02 Max, the replacement D2R was $200 for one bulb. I am sure it may be cheaper now. -
I am going to watch this thread because I am considering the same thing. It's hard to consider changing the head unit without changing the speakers.

They could have done this from the jump, but how much of the cost of engineering this would have been passed on to us? -

Aaaah. In my case, no extra holes had to be drilled. -
Are there any odors coming in through the a/c system?
