  1. Recently: Mine has had its 95,000 mile service and got the spark plugs replaced. Actualy runs better after that. Took it on a trip to California and she was averaging around 23-24 mpg.
  2. First car: 1977 Cutlass. 260 cid V8. Stolen, crashed into a van, fixed, repainted Dark Cherry Metallic, was planning to put a tan 1/2 top on it and different wheels/tires. After someone tried stealing it again, I sold it. Was not the first car I had that misfortune. I had the same theft issues with a 1988 Caprice. Favorites (Besides my 2008 and 2011 Edges): - 2002 Maxima SE (Second car I ever owned with a sunroof and was PDQ despite a 4 speed auto. Burned brake rotors like nobody's business, though) - 1994 Maxima GXE (First car I ever owned with a sunroof) - 1986 S-10 Blazer 4x4 (Trust me, that 4wd system came in VERY handy during a Chicago Winter Contenders for first car: - 1974 Nova with a 350cid motor - 1971 GTO Convertible - 1970 Chevelle SS 396 - 1976 Caprice Convertible
  3. Fishx: I am curious about the flickering as well. Let me know what they say.
  4. So, what you guys are saying is that the Edge actually has an open differential like a Maxima. In that community, many of them swapped the differentials for Quaife Limited Slip differentials. Maybe that should be another thing to be added to the list. The Focus ST has a helical Quaife Limited Slip Differential. http://www.quaifeamerica.com/qdf41z.html
  5. She's fine now. It was a mixture of a wicked cloud of nitromethane and remnants from pneumonia. I should be getting them in the coming weeks.
  6. Had to put it on hold because wifey had to go to the hospital
  7. My Galaxy S5 has a feature called Mirror Link which, if my phone is connected via USB, will allow my apps to be controlled via the touch screen. I wonder if the next Sync will implement it? Will we who own older Edges get it?
  8. Placing my order for the LED headlights this weekend.
  9. Since mine is knocking on the door to 100k, this is what I am planning based on this thread: Coolant Flush Transmission fluid maintenance Replace belts Tune-Up (aka spark plug replacement) Power steering fluid flush
  10. That is another point. The HID bulbs in most aftermarket kits are much longer than the halogen bulbs.
  11. Case in point, I have HIDs that are 3200 lumens (1600+1600) and I am planning to upgrade to LEDs that are 9000 lumens (4500+4500). Both will have a 5000K color temperature.
  12. The big concern will be the hardware itself. Will that be updated as well to accommodate more smartphones and tablets?
  13. akirby: Nope. Using the stock halogen bulbs would have been even worse IMO. Even in a well-lit area, the output from the stock halogens sucked.
  14. In Lickskillet's thread, the point about aiming was raised. I will make sure the lights are properly aimed so that I don't blind oncoming drivers.
  15. Lickskillet: As previously mentioned, I do face a LOT of things when driving around Arizona such as deer, pitch black roads, etc. The impetus for my current lighting upgrade is based on a recent trip driving to Chicago from Phoenix. Long story short, my wife complained that the visibility (I actually have 5000K HIDs (3200 lumens)) was very poor, especially on the I-40 corridor. I am seriously considering the VLED LED headlight kit for these reasons. 1) The light output of 4500 lumens/side is going to be a serious improvement (especially with us planning a couple of trips back up to Chicago) 2) The VLED kit also has a collar that allows for adjustment from left to right, not just up and down. Some HID kits tend to throw the beam off-center and there's no way to correct that. 3) I have had to replace multiple ballasts with my HID kit due to the extreme heat. The LED kit will mitigate that. In addition, I am also throwing on a VisionX LED light bar for auxiliary lighting. The light bar is an additional 8000+ lumens of light plus it will have 40 degree LEDs for light coverage.
  16. I am liking what I see. How much is the MSRP?
  17. When the LED bar is being installed, I'll see if the shop will let me take pics of it during the process.
  18. Oh, one thing that has been on my mind for a while is polyurethane performance bushings to replace the stock rubber units (including the engine mounts). Those will definitely help in the handling department by reducing the deflection that comes from rubber bushings. Also, they provide better isolation for engine vibration(s).
  19. The weakest link, IMO, is the transaxle and the way it is geared. However, one of the coolest things with the Edge is that the axles are limited slip. However, what if you have an AWD Edge? IIRC, they do not have the same Haldex system as the SHO and many Volvos. That means you would definitely need an upgraded PTU as well as enhanced seals.
  20. If you have the White Pearl Tintcoat, you might want to factor in the cost of three stages of paint.
  21. Quite honestly, I would like to be able to use apps like Waze on my touch screen using AppLink.
