Hid headlight kit
PrinzII replied to Budbaum's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Caveat: When you go over 6000K-8000K, you will need that 55W ballast to make up for the lower light output of the higher color temps. -
Omar, this is a very interesting post and has me thinking about that as well. I am also wondering if the percentage of ethanol added to many gasolines have an effect on MPG. To give you an idea, I normally fill up with 89 Octane because premium is at different octane levels across the country. For instance, Arizona's premium is 91 octane. New Mexico is 92/93 but their low end is 85. When I drove to Chicago from Phoenix, I used mid-grade for the most part. There were certain points I jumped to premium and saw a difference in mileage. I also noticed that certain brands tend to fare better than others in our vehicles. For instance, Chevron goes through our Edge like water. Shell and Arco do not.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
PrinzII replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
In my case, all that I have been doing is driving and getting her washed. As it sits, she's almost at 110,000 and still running like a top. -
I have had the same HID set in my '08 and transferred the ballasts to my '11. I would have issues with ballasts going out from time to time but I could attribute that to the combination of engine heat and Arizona heat. My actual next step is going with the VLEDs LED kit because I need something that throws more light, especially when traveling on Interstates 10, 17, and 40.

The two systems are different. A home system pulls electricity from the grid and powers the a/c. In the case of a car system, the car's engine powers the a/c which can add drag, thus increasing fuel consumption.

In reading this post, I thought about the recent issues I have had. Bear in mind, I have done master resets and re-paired my phone (Galaxy S5) and my wife's phone (Galaxy S4). Also tested with an iPhone 5c (Work Phone). a) There are times where we cannot make a call. We issue the voice command but Sync sits there and I have actually had to use voice commands through the phone itself. One of my wife's contacts only shows up as a number in the Edge. The contact shows up normally on the phone. c) I have experienced the "delay" when answering a call. One thing I am curious about is the version of Bluetooth in these vehicles. Could it be an issue where the Bluetooth in the car is (somewhat) behind the phone?

Found "Sport Mode" this morning....
PrinzII replied to WingNut's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I test drove a 2015 Sport FWD and agree that the torque steer is horrendous. I have never driven a vehicle where torque steer almost rips the steering wheel from my hands. That alone sealed me considering the AWD Sport. -

That sounds like fun. The closest I got to that was test driving a Camaro ZL1. -

....or a key switch similar to the C4 Corvette ZR-1 -
But that's the nature of technology. However, things like this can be prevented proactively.

After reading this article on USA Today's website, I am wondering if Ford is going to look into their systems to prevent the same kind of hacking that FCA was shown. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2015/07/24/fiat-chrysler-recall-hackers/30617023/

Chris, it would actually take more than a bulb swap. You would have to go with a different housing altogether. For instance, if I wanted to use the same housing for HIDs on my 2011, I'd have to change the housing from the 9006 halogen housing (Stock) to the D3S housing that is on HID equipped Edges. The headlamp assemblies for HID equipped Edges are anywhere from $400-$600 through the dealership. On top of that, you'd have to find a D3S HID kit.

2015 Ford Edge Sport 2.7 Ecoboost Fwd and AWD mods WANTED!!
PrinzII replied to sac811's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
akirby raised a very good point. If there is anything that is a weak link in Edges it's the transmission. Exploring performance options for Edges would have to include things like transmission coolers and Quaife limited slip differentials like those in the Focus ST. Plus, I sometimes wonder how much power could be put to the stock internals before having to fortify them. -
Actually, the new 3.5 is only 5 hp less than the 2011-2014. I do wish they had gone the other direction with horsepower to 305 and put the Sport at 350-370.

For me, this will be a two-fold story....... In 2008, wifey and I were tooling around in a 2000 Dodge Neon which reliably moved us from Chicago to Phoenix. One fateful day, we started having engine problems and the car actually conked out on us at the Ford Dealer. That same day, we bought a 2008 Edge SE in black. I liked the room and performance of that vehicle. In 2012, we traded the 2008 SE for a 2011 Limited in White Platinum. We liked the smoother ride than the '08 and the additional "toys" that were in it. Plus, I like the kick this one had over the 2008. Will there be a #3? Yep. Stay tuned.......

Best 2" Receiver Hitch for 2012 Limited
PrinzII replied to RJG's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I am researching 2" hitches as well. Since my wife and I do a lot of bicycling, I need to get a good 2-4 person rack. One bike shop recommended using the 2" hitch for it. As for racks, I have been looking at Thule so far. -
enigma: We've got a new one in Chandler that has a Coach Outlet, Marc Jacobs Outlet, and even a Movado Outlet. I haven't had much time to explore the whole place (yet)...lol

enigma: I've been out to that mall and found some pretty decent deals.
-
In my case, I would have an interesting dichotomy. My 2008 was bought new. The 2011 was bought with 18199 on the clock. So, I am guessing I would have the best of both worlds.
