  1. I can't be much help as I only compared the CX7 to the Edge and it wasn't even close. I drove the Edge first and then the CX7. It took about 2 minutes of driving to realize the Edge seemed to be a much better vehicle. Never drove the CX9 but if it's comparable to the 7, the Edge wins hands down.
  2. I used to have Falken tires...not on my Edge though but i can tell you i highly recommend you go with the Pirellis over the Falkens. The Falkens are attractive because they are pretty reasonably priced but i truly didn't think they were that great. That being said, the model of Falken tire you would be getting would be different than what i had so you may want to do some internet searches for reviews of the exact model you are looking at.

  4. Hey NYedge, I like your wheels alot too. Expecting mine in any day now and they are a very similar style...can't wait!!
  5. Those are really nice wheels. I went with all chrome but with the color of your Edge the black with chrome will look sick. The attachement is the same as the thumbnail pic though so I only see the one. You going with 20s?
  6. How 'bout this weather eh, Sony? It's crazy...had to take a drive out there today just so i could really test out the 'ol AWD. Man, cars, trucks and SUVs sliding all over and there i was, driving along like the roads were bare. Almost makes you feel too confident. Anyways, the HIDs look great!! I'm just waiting for the weather to get a little better to get mine in.
  7. Ya, they are there....i wondered the same thing when i looked in the kit. Then i pulled the plastic tray/liner out and sure enough, there are 2 brackets hiding underneath.
  8. There is a recent pic somewhere on here with someone who just bought an Edge with running boards I think. Check out the "Introduce yourself" forum...I think it may be in there.
  9. Abrannan, no worries. I don't think they could have even mounted those bad a$$ wide tires on an 8.5 so I'm sure they are 9.5s. I just checked and there is tons of room for clearance in the wheel well. Almost 4" so no wonder you didn't have problems fitting the 285s in there!
  10. There are a few in the gallery with 22s. Abrannan has 22s and I there is also a creme Edge with 22s and the 3d carbon body kit. Can't remember the name though.
  11. Ya, i just took a quick look at the wheel well and the tires seem to have tons of room in there. The reason I'm going with a 30 offset is because the wheel I want is only available in that offset. I talked to a number of wheel/tire retailers and the only real concern with offset is fitment. They will never recommend you deviate from the recommended offset but that's because it's not listed on their fitment guides and won't be held liable for a wheel/tire combo that they can't guarantee will fit. Just to note, I think you must have meant you have a 9.5"...there is no way a 285 wide tire would fit properly on a 8.5" wheel. I have spent the last 2 days calling every tire manufacturer I could think of and a bunch of wheel/tire retailers just to find some technician to tell me that I could fit a 265 tire on a 8.5" wheel and not one of them said it could be done. They said there were serious safety concerns when mounting a tire that is too wide for the wheel. a 265 tire requires a minimum wheel width of 9.0". I just checked some specs online and most 285mm tires have a minimum wheel width of 9.5 so I'm assuming the 8.5" was a typo and you actually have a 9.5" wide wheel. I actually had purchased a 265 on an 8.5" wheel and had to return them as all the 'experts' said it was very dangerous to do that. I called Yokohama to report that the retailer was mounting wheels that were too narrow and they said it must have been a mistake since no authorized dealer would do such a dangerous thing.
  12. Haven't had much luck getting any responses for technical wheel/tire info but thought I'd give it another shot. The 20" OEM wheels are 7.5" with a 44mm offset. When jumping to an 8.5"-9.0" width, a 38mm offset is recommended. I'm looking to go to a 30mm offset and I believe to do so, would need an extra 1.05" of clearance from edge of tire to outer fender. I believe the distance from centre is 2.77" with stock and 3.92" with a 30mm offset. Has anybody done this? I will be measuring later tonight but was curious to hear if anybody has used a wheel with a lower offset. Since it's a lower offset, the concern is the wheel well and outer fender and I shouldn't have to worry about any clearance issues with the suspension parts. I guess I will also have to take into consideration that the 22" tire I will be using has a larger diameter by 0.75"/2 (.375) over stock as well so I guess I would need a total clearance of 1.425" or 1.5" to be safe...hmmm.
  13. Back on topic... Sonyguy, we obviously don't have to live by the same rules as the US does however I was also wondering the same thing. I would like to know if such a law exists in Ontario. I have always had very dark tint on my windows here and never had a problem but I don't know if that just because law enforcement aren't really concerned much about that here. Heck, I think it would be interesting to see the reaction on an officer's face pulling over my wife and our 4 month old in his car seat for dark windows. I was thinking of doing the same thing, matching the sides to the back windows but wasn't sure of the legality of doing so. If you find a good place here, please let me know. Thanks!
  14. No problem Sonyguy. You will sacrifice a little ride softness going to the 22s. I do find the 20s are a perfect balance of size and ride quality however i am a sucker for big wheels. As i said before, i used to have 19s on my civic in my younger days...guess some things don't change with age. Those were 35 series an quite a stiff ride. As for the handling in the rain, that's not necessarily true. If you go with a good tire, even a 20 or 22 will handle very well in the rain. Heck, the stock 20" Pirellis all-seasons on my Edge are better in the snow than my brand new 15" winter tires on my VW...although AWD does play a factor in that The sidewall heights is approximately: 245/50/20 -4.8" 265/40/22 -4.2" 265/35/22 -3.7" None of those have alot of rubber but when you get down to the recommended 35series in a 22, you don't have much left at all. Hope this helps a bit.
  15. It all depends...when i bought my Edge, it came with 20s and i thought i'd be happy with that...but after seeing a few Edges with 22s...i'm upgrading. I will be sacrificing a little 'softness' in the ride but for the looks, it's definitely something i'm willing to do. Ha, funny, i just said that 20s on 50 rubber is soft The 20s do look plenty big enough though and the ride quality is still great. Alot of people prefer this option. Hope that helps a little.
  16. Anybody know what type of TPMS the Edge has? Thanks, Craig
  17. Ya, Yokohama has confirmed that there is no way I should be using their 265mm tires with the 8.5" width rim. I told the dealer exactly what Yokohama said. I even told Yokohama that they were doing this to customers and they said it must have been a mistake. Don't think so but no big deal since they are refunding me for the package. Unfortunataly, I have to change wheels now but I found a 9" width that I really like so I'm working on getting those ordered now. Thanks!
  18. I know the '09 Edge Sport has 265/40/22 but I seem to be getting recommendations from tire places that the 265/35/22 is the preferred size. The 35 series is slightly smaller than OEM but the 40 is slightly larger. They are close in the difference from stock...just over 2%. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'm leaning towards the 40s to give me a little more rubber. Thanks!
  19. That's good to know. I look forward to hearing the update and sure hope it works for you...and me Thanks for the info!
  20. Thanks for the update! Will removing the rubber ring affect the seal though? Glad to know the relay isn't needed...everyone with digital ballasts don't seem to need them.
  21. Hey, can you please clarify about it not fitting. What isn't fitting? Bulbs? Are you sure you got the right kit? I bought a kit from Chad but I've had nothing but headaches with HID kits and the last thing I want is another kit not work for me.
  22. Hey again...I actually called Yokahama directly this afternoon to ask about such an allowance as i have found some car makers that actually do this (BMW to name one). Well, talked to a tech person and sure enough, there is no allowance. 9.0" is the minimum "approved" wheel width to go with those tires. 255/40/22s would be fine...if only they came in that size! This is getting frustrating as I was set on these 8.5" wheels. Thanks again!
  23. I'm trying to determine if i can use a 9.5" wide 22" wheel with an offset of 25mm. I can't seem to find the factory offset but I think it's somewhere between 35mm and 45mm in which case, a 25mm won't work Thanks!
  24. Thanks for the advice! I understand completely what you are saying and I have already started. The issue that I'm having is that I'm getting conflicting stories. For example, Discount Tire say it's fine because it's so close and TireRack say no, it's not. I was just hoping that there may be an expert lurking around here that could help (even if he's 12 The tires are Yokohama Spec-X in 265/40/22. I guess my next step is contacting them directly. Thanks!
