  1. Manish, Torrie at Unleashed Tuning in Fla. created tunes specific to my modifications. He set me u[p with an 87 octane economy tune, an 87 octane performance tune and a 93 octane performance tune. I run the 93 octane tune and it was like the finishing touch to the mods. Way better acceleration and I still average about 19 - 20mpg. Even with a heavy foot.
  2. While at the detail shop, I noticed on the counter a product called" Aquapel". It is available from Pittsburg Glass and Window. This is like SUPER Rain-X!! It doesn't seem to wear off like Rain-X does after a few storms. It supposedly forms a molecular bond with the glass and acts as a coating. The water still sheets off like Rain-X, it just lasts longer(been 4 weeks now and it still works great). Makes the "bug goo" come off easier too! Go to Ebay or Amazon to find it, search through the listings to get the best price. I got an 8-pack from Amazon(forget the price). The reason being, that one applicator will do ONE windshield, But you have to move pretty quick. Coat glass up/down the back/forth and wipe off while still wet(very important) I got enough to do the whole vehicle and I'm liking it better every day. Good luck, Bob C.
  3. From the day I picked up my new, 2013 Sport, there has been a tapping noise from the engine bay. Fuel injector? I don't think so. Sounds more like a valve tap to me and just one cylinder. Dealer checked it out and said it was a fuel injector. I didn't buy that one, but the mechanic said everything is fine with the vehicle. Anybody have a similar issue?? Bob
  4. Hey guys, the only way to get noticeble gains is to do the whole package deal. K&N intake, BBK 73mm throttle body(presuming you have the 3.7L engine), the Magnaflow system with the resonator box removed and finally, tunes from SCT. Mine has more seat of the pants feel to it. Don't know how much I gained, but my best guess is between 20 to 35HP more. Better throttle response and much improved shifting from the tranny. Contact Torrie at Unleashed Tuning down in Fla. He offers 3 tunes, 87 economy, 87 performance and 93 performance(I run this one), but he can set up any type of tunes you want. Like a nitrous tune, towing and E85 too! The trans is improved by increasing the shift pressures and re-map the shift points and rev limiter as well. I feel this is the only way to get gains in HP and TQ. Bob
  5. Was wondering, if there are enough people in the NY/NJ/PA area that might want to get together sometime and have a little show and shine and something to eat? Lets see who wants to and see when to do it! PS: Dingo said he'd come!(from GA)
  6. Andy, tell me when you're gonna be in the area. we can work with that!
  7. Mike, couldn't send a reply to your message as I don't have 20 posts yet. So I'll add this one to my list. The only issue with your warranty is if any part is modified/replaced and it specifically causes a problem. Then your warranty won't cover it. The key word here is "causes", however, your warranty is still effect. I've only had one issue with a mod, a K&N intake on my Sport Trac rubbed against a wire bundle and shorted a couple of the wires and caused my A/C compressor to cycle off and on. I had to pay for that one. My dealer is pretty cool about the stuff I've done and doesn't give me a hard time about it. The federal government states it is "illegal" to modify, bypass or alter anything related to the emissions. ie: intake, TB, exhaust and anything with the computers. My mods are fairly obvious to anyone that opens the hood. I don't bother changing things just to go to the dealer. I even bought a red cap from Steeda that fits over the OBD port and says "DO NOT FLASH" So yeah, you are kinda rolling the dice here with any modifications. I never had any issues as I don't ABUSE the vehicle in any way, as some would be tempted to do. Okay, except for Englishtown once or twice a year!! So, that's my story. Good luck and stay in touch. Bob PS: you know, if there are enough owners in the area(NJ/NY/PA), we should do a picnic/bbq or something this summer so we can actually see what each of us has done. Dunno. What do you think?
  8. Has any of you been to the strip with a "modified" Edge? I'm curious to hear about one with an intake, exhaust, throttle body and computer tunes. If someone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. Bob
  9. PS: Bob Yellow, I got a better price than Ebay or Amazon could offer. That price you stated, I saved almost $30 less than that. You gotta call several independent retailers and haggle with them. It's fun to do it that way and watch them squirm a bit. Bob
  10. Hey everyone, the TB was last in a series of modifications. K&N got the intake, Magnaflow got the exhaust, Unleashed Tuning in Fla did the SCT XCalII programs. There is a definate increase in power with all of that. Power is up and if I can drive sensibly, I'll get 19-21mpg. I can go nuts and get 15-17mpg. Brock, no harm done, I am one of those that thinks things through and I don't waste any money on bullshit. I've been down this road many times already, so I think I know what I'm doing. In other words, if I put $5 into it, I better get $5 plus change back. It's just the way I am. Bob
  11. I ordered part #1822 from BBK. Its an oversize(vs stock 68mm) throttle body that is listed for the 2011+, 3.7L Mustang. Its a direct replacement, 4 bolts and your done. You don't have to swap any parts over, the TB is complete the way it comes. I'm giving this one a double thumbs up!! Immediate difference in the vehicle. Just the "seat of the pants" feeling is huge. They claim 15-20 additional HP, I believe it. Shop around and try to negotiate a better than list price($399.99) Happy hot-rodding!! Bob

The kit from H&R did not come with, nor was there anything about camber plates/ bolts/ eccentrics in the kit. H&R said this was a direct bolt in. All I would have to do is a 4-wheel alignment afterwards. My shop that I used did the install for $500 and the alignment for $89. Which I thought was reasonable. Total time in the shop was just over 4 hours. I got estimates from 3 different shops before I had it done. They were $500 to $780 @ STS! Hope this helps. The main reason I did all this is because I'm an amputee and with the wide sills I was having a little difficulty getting in without banging my leg all over the bodywork. That 2" made just the right change for me. Good luck, Bob
  13. I've added pictures in the past few days and they show up as tiny little thumbnails! How can I make them bigger in the posts? For example:
  14. I got my '13 Sport. So i'm happy for now! I'm sure there will be plenty of other choices by the time I'm ready to buy something...No panic here. Bob
  15. Well, I guess I have to join in on this one. 2012 Haley Road Glide Ultra 1967 Mustang convertible I've also got a black 2006 Mustang GT convertible, red leather interior. Funny, I can't find a picture of it. Bob
  16. Sorry, just found your post for the 3M film. Ordered a piece. Thanks for the heads up. Bob
  17. Ha Ha, I knew it was you!! Your truck looks awesome, they're pretty cool vehicles, huh? Glad you're still around, hope all is well. OK, what did you do to the chrome strip on the hood and over the headlights? Its the only piece of stupid chrome on the whole vehicle. What were they thinking? Its GOT TO GO! Talk at you soon. Bob

It seems to have settled down to its "normal" ride height. Its almost 2" lower than stock. Just as H&R described. Its definately firmer, but also a little supple over the small highway ripples. Make sense? Not sure if its the progressive wind in the springs or what. I like the look, but would kinda liked a little more drop in retrospect.(a full 2" or 2.25") I've got to get my set of 22's cleaned up(285/35-22 Toyo Proxes) and see how the final outcome is. But you have to remember, this is a short wheelbase truck. So normally the ride is like a Jeep Wrangler. It tend to buck or rock back and forth over some bumps. I really noticed it today. Here's what: you know when they open a road to put in a new pipe? After a few weeks the patch gets slightly depressed? Well, the truck goes "Thump-Thump" over these. I wonder if different struts would help? Our wives would probably object to our adolescent behavior! Bob

I ordered hood struts from Redline last night. They are set up for the edge already and should be an easy install. Hate that prop rod thing. Will post when I get them. Bob

They were very easy to install and wire. Took about an hour to do. Almost a plug-n-play installation. So far I like them. They are pretty bright during the day. I ordered the "offset" tube type from Dan and the tube gets kinda lost because of the LED's at night. They throw out a good bit of light, I'm impressed. They auto dim to about 50% output when you put the headlights on. contact Dan Smith at daytimebrightlights.com, he'll set you up with a set. Good luck, Bob
  21. You wouldn't have owned a dark blue ST, would you? If so, how have you been? It sucks not having the other vehicle, I lost her to hurricane Sandy back in October. The Edge is cool, now that I'm kinda making it mine. Similar mods to the ST. Hey, take care. Glad to see you're still around. Bob

What did you use on the chrome hood strip and over the headlight assemblies? Not sure which way I want to go. Body color or black. Thanks. Bob
