  1. Well for the past couple months now my bike has been getting rather picky about staying in 3rd gear. It wasn't 'that' bad, but it has been getting progressively worse, so finally had to tear into it and get it all fixed up. Got all the parts I needed to fix it, and had a little time since we weren't riding the following weekend (went to the GNCC races again that weekend!), so decided it would be a good time to tear it apart Went pretty quick.... I rode it to work thursday, rode home (carried all the tools I'd need in a backpack and tankbag), got home a little after 6pm, got started on it about 6:30 or so, and it was out and ready to go by 8:30. Not too bad.... coolant was still steaming when I drained it and motor was still warm when I loaded it into the back of my car, LOL. The little A-frame idea worked like a champ! Hard to see in the pic but the whole bike is actually hanging in the air. I'm not gonna lie though, I really do wish I had a cassette style transmission that didn't require pulling the motor out to do this, lol Took it into work with me friday morning to tear it down. Boy was she dirty outside... the rural roads I ride on around here are so much dirtier than other places I used to live. Had to do some scrubbing on the outside for sure. The valve cover gasket was also leaking a little bit too so that didn't help any (it's original.... got a new one) Inside though... nice and clean. Oil still nice and clean too for having almost 6k miles on it. Bike and motor have 256,000 miles and pretty much all original... never rebuilt it, just had this same trans issue once before and that's about all I've done internally (I'm the original owner, bought it with 3 miles on it). Also keep in mind this is a high revving motor too, redlines at 14,200 RPM and has 6 trackdays on it as well. Not too bad! Oh yea it's a 2004 Honda CBR 600 F4i Original clutch still hanging in there and looking good (256,138 miles) Once again..... squeeaaaakkky clean inside, always makes me happy to see. Regular oil changes FTW! Bottom end looks brand new
  2. It's super easy...... I went out and snapped a few pics just now While in FM mode, press and hold #3 and 6 presets at the same time for a couple seconds It will first start doing a speaker walk-around test (it will be loud!!). You don't have to do the whole test, you can push the "end test" button right in the middle and it'll skip that, and then you'll be in bezel diagnostics From here you can go to both the on-demand self test, and view DTC's Self test So there it should tell you if there's any codes present. Be sure and do both tests as the on-demand will tell you faults that are happening right now, and the view DTC's will give you stored codes that may have set at another time There's also other cool stuff you can do with these units as well.... and the instrument cluster too. But that's another story, hehe
  3. 2010 doesn't have MFT, it's the Pioneer nav unit Sounds like something internal to the unit itself. Have you run a self test on it to see if there's any codes??
  4. Very nice... looks great! Love the white sports Welcome to the forum.... take a look around lots of good info here
  5. Hmmm may have to try some of this.... looks like Napa carries it as well, gonna have to swing by and pick some up. Thanks for the heads up

    spark plugs

WTF is right?!?! Did they at least throw in a free reach around for that?? Damn.... :fool: And what exactly did they "reseal"??
  7. Not sure if anybody cares of not, but last weekend my buddy Scott and I went up to the GNCC races at Steele Creek, which is right up where we ride all the time, and right across the road from Brown Mountain where we ride dirt as well. Awesome facility they have there, huuuuuuuge area and real nice setup... and I love how there's pretty much no rules as to where you can go, you can walk the whole track and stand wherever you want so long as you're not in the way (and if you are in the way you sure as hell better move cuz they're coming through, haha... saw that a few times and boy you never saw a crowd of people move so fast). It was packed.... tons and tons of people! But it's so spread out it wasn't bad once everybody moved around. The big mud pit was still where all the action was at though and where most of the people (ourselves included) hung out a majority of the time Anyways, quite a few pics here, mostly on the second day with the bikes cuz I forgot to bring my GoPro the first day and all I had was my phone. Made a few videos too... EDIT: I don't know why this forum is such a pain in the butt to post pictures on.... some show up, some don't, some video links work, some don't.... no rhyme or reason to it whether it does or doesn't. So here's the link to the post on another forum.... http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=331330
  8. Welcome to the forum!! And congrats on the new ride.... I'm sure it'll treat you well and you'll be very happy with it
  9. Carefully stick a small flat blade screwdriver (like a pocket screwdriver under the bottom part of the bezel (under the a/c controls) to to help pop it out a little bit, then just pull it straight off (carefully, of course). It's just held on with little plastic snap clips.... comes off suuuuper easy. Don't even have to unplug anything from it, just lay it off to the right side and you can get right at the radio
  10. No problem..... here's a pic of mine (drivers side) since I had the rotors off anyways here today to cut them. The shoes on the Edge look a little different than on some other models, they're just one big "C" ring instead of 2 separate shoes. Pay very close attention to the orientation of the adjuster when you take them out
  11. At work..... cutting my rotors, lubing up all balljoint/tie rod end/sway bar link boots with vaseline, and greasing all caliper slides
  12. The paring brake is at both rear wheels behind the rotors, the motorcraft brake shoe kits come with shoes for both sides. It's just like doing a regular brake job on a vehicle with drum brakes, only with tiny shoes and no duo-servo (thank god!!) or wheel cylinders, lol. Don't forget to thoroughly clean and lube the adjusters (I always use nickel anti-seize) and then adjust them properly once everything is together
  13. About what I was just gonna say too..... I'm quite a firm believer in the fact that people are just plain f'ing stupid and always looking for a way to get something for nothing and/or avoid having to take responsibility for their lack of common sense. Funny how you never hear of this stuff, then one person starts something and then all of a sudden... "Ohhhh yea...uhhh... mine did that too.... yea!". And that's when I have to spend MY time (as in not getting paid) to try and find a "problem" that doesn't exist.... quite frustrating
  14. Another congrats on the new job!! I've been there myself, it's not fun... glad to hear it all worked out
  15. Yes, it will fit just fine, may just need to have it programmed as the '07 doesn't have SYNC
  16. Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the forum!! (from a fellow mechanic myself, lol) Looks pretty clean!
  17. Looks good, I like it!! I'm not a big fan of the chrome anyways.... wouldn't mind doing something like this myself, though it probably looks better on yours with the black on the sides than it would on mine with the tan
  18. Nice pics!! And yea there is definitely a LOT of $$$ in south Florida. Mostly people with more money than brains though. I used to live right down where you were at, in Lighthouse Point for awhile then moved to Sunrise..... then after I couldn't stand it anymore I moved back to the USA and couldn't be happier, lol Glad you had a fun trip and the Edge did you well! I'm getting about the exact same MPG on the couple of little trips I've gone on
  19. Ford uses a hood switch on lots of vehicles for the alarm as well.... I've had a handful of "alarm going off randomly by itself" complaints end up being caused by a faulty hood switch (though most are door ajar switches, lol). My buddies 2011 Super Duty has a hood switch and no remote start... he wants me to add one to it here soon though
  20. Thanks everyone for the kind words!! Always much appreciated :D
  21. It is indeed! I don't know how far back it goes, I know my parents and grandparents are all US natives, but I guess somewhere along the way somebody on my dads side came from Finland
  22. Hahah but of course... ask away!! Seriously I don't mind one bit.... always happy to help any way I can
  23. Ahhhh man if only you could ship it I'd be all over it... oh well
  24. I guess just cuz I didn't really do anything out of the ordinary, or didn't think I did at least, lol..... but I guess I finished all my classes and didn't even know it cuz I really had no idea. Anyways, got into work this morning and they had said they were getting food for breakfast for all of us at 9:30.... everybody goes up to the showroom and the general manager gave a short little speech then called me forward and gave me these bad boys.... Pretty cool.... first masters certificates I've ever gotten. Might have to go for a few more and shoot for senior master next! haha. Although Ford doesn't do the free cruise when you get your senior masters anymore like they used to for many many years....oh well Just thought I'd share
  25. Yea man... shoot me your VIN and I can tell ya right quick
