See if there is any codes in it.... though more than likely it's the fan control module

Brightest LEDs...
thirdgenlxi replied to candurin's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Awesome... thanks for posting this..... I'm looking to start getting some LED's now. I most definitely need the brightest thing I can find for the reverse lights so my blind ass can actually (maybe) see backing up, LOL -
More than likely needs a PCM..... and 6 coils and plugs. Hopefully you didn't burn your cat converter up

Welcome to the forum!! Always happy to see more 1st gens, hehe. Congrats on the new ride.... looking good

You can also unplug the A/C high pressure cutoff switch right there near the fan module in the high pressure line and the fans should default to the HIGH setting (with the car running..... and it takes a minute or so for them to kick on, it's not instant) Could also be a PCM on it's way out too. I'll have to look up the pinpoint test to see how to test the signal wire.... we've never seen any problems with them so I've never had to test it out, lol

Traction Control and ABS Light Comes on
thirdgenlxi replied to Jimmy Sosinski's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Why in gods name would the dealer fix it for free?? And what TSB are you referring to? I see none listed for ABS or traction control light But yea more than likely a wheel speed sensor that's losing it's signal at the higher speeds. Had an '03 Dodge Dakota do this awhile back at the exact same speed too. Could be the sensor itself or could be something with the tone wheel..... either damaged or too thick of an air gap -
Keypad lights

Gotta replace the keypad -
I would certainly change the trans fluid as well if you haven't done so yet. P/S and brake fluid is always good to flush out periodically as well (usually do mine every 6-12 months..... and trans drain & fill at every oil change). I'd go ahead and do spark plugs too (NGK's work great if you don't use Motorcraft) and PCV as mentioned above. Coolant will be due in another 30k or so. Don't forget to check the cabin air filter too! But yea that dealer price is downright absurd for just an oil change, tire rotation, wiper blades, and air filter.... unless there's more to it than that and they forgot to mention something

EDIT - disregard didn't scroll down far enough and see I had replied to this already, hahah. Oops!

AC not blowing out of vents
thirdgenlxi replied to fezzman's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You can't see the mode door for the defrost from the glove box, it's on the drivers side..... likely the actuator is dead. They're all electric... no vacuum. Or a control head, but actuator would be my first guess -
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride! I'm sure you'll find the Edge quite enjoyable.... especially on roadtrips, it's super comfy! Post some pics!

Awesome..... glad you were able to get it replaced and my method of doing it worked for ya. Pretty easy, huh? Just an FYI though, keep a close eye on the connector to the fan module from the main harness...... I'm not sure about that particular brand, but in general many aftermarket fans are more or less....junk. I went round and round with this with a body shop that kept getting aftermarket fans (finally got an OEM one and it's perfect), and every single one the connector wouldn't 'snap' in place cuz the connector on the fan didn't have barely any of the little nub that snaps into the locking tab on the harness connector, and the connector would just slide right off. This will burn up the fan module in no time. So just keep an eye on it.... might want to give it a good tug and make sure it's on there good and solid

I'll give it a shot but doubt I'll get anywhere near that, hahah. Living right in the mountains it kinda kills MPG....I usually get 21-23. I'll try it out though and see what I get

I bought it from the dealer that I work at.... took almost 2 weeks to get it down to the price/payments I wanted, but they finally got it down. It also helped that it had been on our lot for almost 90 days and they were gonna ship it off to one of our other stores if I didn't buy it. But I guess being an employee I did have a bit of an advantage, lol. If I remember right they had it advertised for I think $15,700. No warranty.... I probably could have gotten one, but knowing we never really have any problems with them, and being able to fix anything myself the cost of a warranty really isn't worth it to me. Plus I would NEVER ever ever buy an outside warranty anyways, they're nothing but a huge scam (yes, I deal with them daily, unfortunately). I did still have to pay some of the dealer fees and whatnot (one of which they got rid of for employees literally a month after I bought this....grrrr), so it ended up being $13k and change OTD..... still not bad at all, and other than 1 rock chip in the RR 1/4 panel and a couple small scratches on the rear bumper cover, it's literally virtually spotless inside and out, and you could tell had been very well cared for. You'd never guess it has 106k on it. Only things wrong with it when I bought it was the RR speaker was blown, and the drivers heated seat doesn't work (needs the heater mat).... both of which I used to get the price down a lil more, haha. A few pics from when I bought it..... scroll all the way down I added some more towards the end. Only thing different now is I added the factory navigation unit http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11536-new-guy-here-just-bought-my-07-sel/

2006 ford edge towing
thirdgenlxi replied to slackeribew's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
It's the button on the side of the shifter.... it will say "O/D OFF" on the dash. And ALWAYS turn OD off when towing.... towing in OD is a quick way to burn up a transmission -
Welcome to the forum!! As was mentioned, nice to see some more first gens here Make yourself at home, lots of good people here... Dang y'all are making it look like I stole mine! haha. '07 SEL in almost spotless condition inside and out with 97k, I paid $12,600 when I bought it back in Nov

That looks great.... love it!! I'd love to do the sport wheels on my '07..... just can't afford that kinda stuff right now though, lol

The whole fan is crazy easy to replace..... seriously maybe 15 mins doing it the slow way with hand tools, lol. And don't drain the coolant like the manual tells you to, don't need to.... bungee cord the wiring harness and upper rad hose back out of the way, take the little bracket off the drivers side that the bolt for the airbox goes into (take airbox out too, of course), and you've got plenty of room, fan will pull right out no problem
-
LOL definitely!! Shop definitely went balls deep on that one.... Gotta love when shops give honest techs (like myself) a bad name And $120 WTF did they use, Amsoil?? 5 qt jug + 1 additional quart of Mobil 1 that I use is $30 at wally world + $10 for a Wix filter. Sorry but... y'all got hosed BIG time!

Just a little update..... all finished! I didn't want it to take as long as it did, but just as luck would have it, soon as I get it apart it gets crazy busy at work and I have no time to work on it, and then on top of that I had to do a side job on my buddies R6 (valves all out of whack), and then some work on his trailer too. So mine had to kinda take a back burner for a bit as he was kind of in a pickle with a trackday scheduled soon and needed his bike. But was finally able to get her all finished up and back home.... ready to go in Started saturday and got the engine hung back in the frame Had to start her up and make sure all was well..... sounded good, so filled up the cooling system and bleeding the air out here Finished putting plastics back on and gave her a good wipe down to get all my nasty greasy fingerprints off Aaaaand.... ride time!! Just a quick jaunt down my road and back. The audio is messed up on my GoPro right now (trying to figure out if/how to fix that), so that's why all the wind noise (that's in the solid waterproof case). But you can kinda hear it.... running and shifting beautifully! Sooooo nice not jumping out of 3rd anymore, god that was freakin' annoying, haha Now back to our regular weekend shenanigans -

Oh yea R6's are great! I'd love to get one for a track bike.... Actually doing a little side work on my buddies '06 R6 trackbike here right now as well (here as in, in my kitchen, lol)..... making a pretty loud ticking noise on cold startup so checking/adjusting the valves and installing an APE manual CCT..... hopefully that takes care of it. Definitely cramped in these new ones though with the electronic throttle bodies and all! -

Still don't have it back together just yet, but just cuz I'm waiting on a few gaskets and o-rings that I had forgot to order beforehand (or didn't know I'd need). Had to get a valve cover gasket (was still original.... found leaking just a little bit), o-rings for the oil pick-up and pressure relief valve, and the o-rings that go around the spark plug holes on the bottom side of the camshaft hold down plate. Hopefully they'll be in early this week and I can get it all back together. Other than that everything else is done... trans is fixed and cases back together, valve adjustment done, just waiting on the gaskets and I'll be set Anyways, a few more pics.... Original clutch still measures well in spec (2.4mm) Top end like brand new.... literally looks like zero wear on the cam lobes, shim buckets, journals, thrust bearing, etc Certainly can't complain.... Rotella T6 has done me well! :D -

And here would be my problem..... gear dogs on 3rd rounded off, and of course 6th too since it meshes with 3rd And got the shift fork a lil bit to Got the new gears put in and trans back together.... guess I have my work cut out for me monday when I go back, haha. Then I've gotta do a valve adjustment as well.... fun fun. Should have her back together and running again this next week sometime and back to our usual weekend rides next weekend
