  1. I can run OASIS if need be..... just let me know.. just need the VIN
  2. Hahah thanks! And yea my dad helped me do a full detail when I was up in Illinois.... good wash, clay bar, wax, vinyl treatment on the plastic parts, clean and wax all glass, thorough vacuum and clean interior, clean and condition leather with Lexol, etc.... got her looking good! I'll post up some more pics from the trip in another thread here soon Sometimes my co-navigator failed me though, lol..... "Are we there yet dad??"
  3. This is about the best I've gotten..... was on my way home back to NC on a 2,000 mile roadtrip all last week up to Illinois to see my family. The reading here was a little optimistic, when I filled up best I got was 23.66. Cruise control was set at about 70-72 the whole time. It went down a little bit as I got into the mountains in TN and NC.... this was in Indiana = flat, lol Yup.... about how I remember Illinois, lol Luckily I had my co-pilots with me to keep me company along the way. And SiriusXM too.... thank god, lol
  4. I'm not sure on the addition of the camera to existing equipment, but the non-MyTouch Edges that had backup camera still used the smaller radio display to show it. I just did a PDI on one yesterday that had that. Not sure what would all be involved in adding it on or even if you can (the display may still be different in some way)
  5. Thanks!! Yea he most definitely lives up to his name! haha But he calms down when needed too, and in the house after they get through with their little playtime wrestling match, everybody is out cold and he's perfectly calm. Playtime though, he's a lil wild man! I love him to death already though..... couple little issues we need to work out but nothing big at all. He starts his obedience classes this wednesday . He's doing great though! No complaints or regrets whatsoever
  6. Printable View (50 KB) TSB 11-9-6 WHITE FLAKES OR POWDER COMING FROM A/C VENTS Publication Date: September 14, 2011 FORD: 2005-2009 Focus 2008-2010 Crown Victoria 2000-2005 Expedition, F-150 2007-2012 Edge 2008-2010 Escape LINCOLN: 2008-2010 Town Car 2000-2005 Navigator 2007-2012 MKX MERCURY: 2008-2010 Grand Marquis, Mariner This article supersedes TSB 09-21-6 to update the vehicle model years and Service Procedure. ISSUE:Some vehicles may experience white flakes or powder coming from the A/C vents when the blower motor is engaged. ACTION:Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE NOTE: WHEN WORKING WITH COMPRESSED AIR AND NUISANCE DUST, THE USE OF DUST PROOF GOGGLES AND A DUST MASK IS RECOMMENDED. NOTE: THE ENTIRE EVAPORATOR CORE SURFACE MUST BE DRY FOR BEST RESULTS. NOTE: WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE AND SELECTING DIFFERENT VENT MODES SUCH AS FLOOR / PANEL AND FLOOR / DEFROST, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO TEMPORARILY START THE ENGINE TO ENABLE MODE DOOR MOVEMENT. Clean A/C Ducts: Remove floor duct trim. Using masking tape, connect one end of the vacuum cleaner hose to the floor duct on driver side. Tape closed all the other floor duct openings. Obtain about 61 cm (2') of rubber vacuum line large enough to fit the end of a small shop air blowgun. Secure the hose to the end of the blowgun using a worm clamp. Close all instrument panel registers. Set temperature setting to full cold. Place mode in floor / panel. Turn on vacuum cleaner. Working with one register at a time, insert the vacuum line down each duct and blow shop air through each duct for 30 seconds. Be sure to close each register before moving on to the next register. Change mode to floor / defrost. Blow down each defroster duct for 30 seconds. Alternate mode door between floor and floor / defrost three (3) times, giving the door time to move between each change. Turn off vacuum cleaner. Clean Evaporator Core: Change mode to full floor. Ensure temperature is full cold. Remove blower motor per Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412. Turn on vacuum cleaner. Reach into blower opening with vacuum line and using compressed shop air set to maximum inlet pressure of 689 kpa (100 psi) proceed to blow compressed air for a minimum of 5 minutes, utilizing a very slow sweeping action. Blow the entire core face with an up and down motion, then repeat moving from side to side. NOTE: ATTENTION TO THE BLOW-OFF OF THE EVAPORATOR CORE SURFACE WILL DETERMINE EFFECTIVENESS OF REPAIR. Install the blower motor per WSM, Section 412. Open all registers. Operate the A/C system in Max mode with the blower on the lowest setting. Monitor the temperature with a thermometer until the lowest temp is achieved. Switch to vent and monitor the temperature until ambient temperature is reached. Repeat Step 9 three (3) additional times. Switch the blower motor to high speed with the vent mode still selected. white flakes should not come out of the vents. If no white flakes are present continue to Step 12. Disconnect vacuum cleaner and remove tape from floor duct. Reassemble floor duct trim. Blow powder off or vacuum dash board and vehicle interior as required. 7. ... The newest member to my furry little family! Those of you on my FB have probably seen him already, but for those that haven't.... little background story [warning: kinda long read] Some of you may remember what happened to my beloved Riley back in July http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12893-well-i-most-definitely-didnt-see-this-one-coming/ That whole situation was probably one of the most emotionally draining things I've had to deal with..... probably ever (even more so than burying 6 riding buddies in the ground in a 2.5 year timespan). Keep in mind, I like dogs/animals more than I do people.... and my dogs are my whole world.... pretty much everything I've got as I have no family or anything around here. My head was spinning so much at first I just wasn't really ready for another dog yet. About a month ago my buddy Travis (who has 4 dogs himself, lol), said, "hey you want to run over to the shelter and see what they got?". I thought, sure why not.... not really seriously looking just kinda browsing and see where it took me. This was the very first shelter visit I made. We go over there and look around, and of course I want to take home pretty much every dog I see, lol. But one of them, who's name was Turbo, caught my eye... he looked strangely similar to Riley. Not sure if it was that or whatever reason it was, but I kept going back to his kennel and checking him out. I didn't take him out at all as we got there not long before they closed so we had to go. I gave the whole getting another dog thing lots of thought, and decided the best way to honor a young life so senselessly lost, is to save another one. Plus Piggy and Piper are complete opposites as far as play and energy levels go, so I kinda wanted to get another higher energy dog like Riley was that would play with her, since Piper is a lazy bum and doesn't like to get off the couch, lol. So I really started to look around... so over the next month I went to pretty much every shelter in the surrounding 3 counties. Even drove all the way down to Atlanta, GA a couple weeks ago (with Piggy and Piper) to check out a foster dog down there (lady I used to live with). I looked at a LOT of dogs.... loved pretty much every one I met. Now I had the problem that I couldn't decide (seriously how does anybody pick just one anyways??). Since I would have to introduce Piggy and Piper to any potential dog anyways to make sure they got along, I figured maybe they could help me narrow it down some. We went over to several of the shelters and introduced everybody together. No big issues, but several of them just either weren't interested in each other, or just didn't seem to "click". I had gone back to the original first shelter 2 more times since then, and noticed Turbo wasn't out there, so I just figured he had gotten adopted. Then I was checking out their website, and noticed he was still listed on the adoptable dogs, along with a few others that I didn't see in the kennels I ran over there real quick after work one day to see if they had anything new, and asked the lady about the couple dogs I had seen on the website that I didn't see in the kennels, Turbo being one of them. She looked them up and said, "oh yea they're still here, probably in the back room". Sure enough he was in a room in the back (where the public can't go without a staff member) where I guess they rotate the dogs around. I took several of the dogs out to walk and in the play area, including Turbo. Again, loved them all... couldn't decide. So yesterday I took Piggy and Piper over there (hadn't taken them to that shelter yet) and we did a few introductions. The staff lady was out there with us the whole time watching closely to body language and whatnot and they can tell whether it's just not gonna work or not. After several introductions, one of which was a no-go right from the start (a Boxer mix named Mac), it came down to 2 dogs..... Turbo and another reeeaaallllllly hyper 10 month old Boxer mix named Alakazam. Very sweet dog but had some pretty bad toy possession issues, enough to make the hair on his back stand up which is def not good in a multi dog household. So it came down to one.... Turbo. We brought him out again, for a total of 3 meetings, and did some more stuff with them (walked them next to each other, more play time, etc), and the staff lady said it looked like Turbo was probably the best match. I was kinda leaning towards him anyways, so with their reassurance, and knowing I was gonna have to just pick one sooner or later, I decided he was it.... lets take him home! I had already put in an application when I was there before, so all they had to do was call my landlord since I rent my house and make sure it was good with them (which it was), and finish up the paperwork and we were all on our way So I'd like to give a nice warm welcome home to.... Turbo!! He's about 1 yr 9 months old... they had him listed as a Hound mix, but what he's mixed with.... who knows. But he's a total sweetheart with an awesome personality. And very energetic to play with Piggy too! His car manners are absolutely fantastic! Then we headed down the road to the PetSmart to get him some supplies. He's really very well mannered, all things considered.... His resemblance to Riley is.... scary Got him enough to get him started off right (new collar and leash too, not in pic) Finally made our way home.... after some dinner at Chic-Fil-A, of course, lol Again, car manners.... couldn't ask for better. And I usually don't let them ride up front, but Piggy and Piper were in the back, and the staff and I both agreed putting them all back there in that close of quarters so soon after meeting each other, would be a bad idea, lol. But he just curled up on the seat and slept like a baby the entire hour drive home Finally got to check out his new home... I'd say he was a happy boy and glad to be out of a kennel Definitely not shy, and made himself right at home... gobbling his dinner down in no time Aaaaand..... then passed out cold, lol He was a little hesitant to get up in the bed with me at first, but he finally did, curled up next to me and slept like a baby the whole night... still there with me this morning when I woke up. Probably the best sleep he's had in quite some time (he was at the shelter for several months) Made a couple videos today too..... his first time out in the back yard (2 acres) where he could RUN!! And then later on in the house..... they went at it like this for probably a good solid 15 minutes without even slowing down. Had a game of bitey-face and some wrestling in there somewhere too, lol. I'd say he's definitely high enough energy to keep up with the ol' almost 7 year old Piggy, haha Anyways that's all I've got..... sorry for such a long rambling story and so many pics, I'm just excited to have something positive to be.... excited about I guess, lol.... after all the legal letdowns over the past couple months that were totally draining me. So maybe this little guy will help me get my mind off things....
  8. Welcome to the forum!! And congrats on your new Edge! Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear your wife is OK. Hope the new ride treats you well! Post up some pics Was the dealer you bought it from by chance Crossroads Ford?
  9. Does it do it with multiple doors? Likely culprit would be a door ajar switch, but unlikely multiple ones would be out at the same time (possible of course, but not likely)
  10. Awww man I hate to see that But of course before anything, I'm glad that you and the people in the Focus were not injured! Cars can always be fixed or replaced That said.... it still sucks when stuff like this happens (and yes, it was indeed completely your fault..... this is why we don't talk on the damn phone and drive!! ), but it doesn't "look" too awful bad. Hopefully they can get you all fixed up soon
  11. Make sure the main plug is good and tight snapped in and can't be pulled off without pressing the release tab..... if it's barely making a connection and it's going in and out, it will fry the module in no time. This is why aftermarket fans suck
  12. If you drove it for a good bit with it misfiring, it will most definitely burn up the cat. Raw fuel will melt a cat pretty dang quick. If you shut it off soon as it starts misfiring and don't drive it until it's fixed, cats are usually fine. Same way on any car
  13. Hey everyone sorry for the late reply..... I honestly just had to take a couple days and just try and clear my head of this whole thing and get my marbles straight. This has been by far one of the most emotionally draining things I've had to deal with in a long LONG time Anyways, the local sheriff was pretty much utterly useless.... got the impression that they just didn't want to deal with it, and pretty much right off the bat they just said it "looked like it was a justified shooting...."..... no charges, case closed. But I'm not OK with that. I had a good hour and a half long chat with an attorney the other night.... she only does animal cases and only here in NC. Super nice lady and obviously a true animal lover herself. So we're trying to figure out what (if anything), we can do. She definitely agrees with me that this was totally unjustified, especially the 3rd shot which was what killed him (he was already disabled from the first 2, then he went back in the house and got another gun, came back out while Riley was obviously not a threat as he was laying on the ground, and shot him in the side of the head behind the ear). But unfortunately our incredibly lax animal laws generally view animals as nothing more than "property" (which is BS), so if anything all I may be able to get is the cost of another dog..... which I couldn't care less about. But we're gonna see what we can come up with The whole situation still makes me sick to my stomach though. I took Riley in and had his body cremated..... got him back a couple days later, so now I need to build a little memorial for him to hang on the wall, with the urn with his ashes, collar, food dish, all his diplomas and certificates, and a whole bunch of pictures. Still miss my lil man like crazy every single day And thanks everyone for the kind words..... I really do appreciate it
  14. Welcome to the forum Brandon! Glad to see another 1st gen around too
  15. You'll need 15 quarts total to do it 3 times. Each time you drain it out it takes 5 quarts to fill it back up. May want to pick up 1 extra quart just in case it takes a little bit more to top it off after the last fill. Remember to go and drive it around for a bit then check the fluid level hot, engine running, on level ground
  16. Don't even worry about the lines on the side..... just drain and fill it. There is a little block on the side of the transmission where the lines snap into, and it is a thermo valve, meaning it closes and restricts any fluid flow to (through) the cooler when the fluid is below a certain temperature (exactly what temp it is, I forget.... but it has to be pretty hot).... it's not circulating all the time. You have to sit there and power brake it to get the fluid hot enough for the valve to open and start circulating. Trust me, just do it the way I described above and you won't have any problems. It's the simplest, cleanest, and safest way to do it yourself. Don't even touch the cooler lines unless you plan on hooking them up to a flush machine
  17. The drain is #1 in the pic. You would use the trans cooler hoses if you had a trans flush machine... that's how you hook it up is inline in the cooler hoses. I wouldn't risk just taking the hose off and starting it up to pump the fluid out, cuz eventually you're gonna run it dry. That's like changing your engine oil by taking the oil filter off, attaching a hose and running it until it's empty. It might work, but just not something I would risk
  18. You can't "flush" it yourself without a transmission flush machine, but you can drain and fill it yourself. Pull the drain plug out of the bottom of the trans and let it drain, tighten plug and refill with 5 quarts fresh fluid. Start engine and let run for 3 minutes, moving the gear selector into each gear position. Repeat this procedure 2 more times, the final time checking to make sure the fluid is at the correct level. Done And WTF how can a dealer not know if your transmission can be flushed or not? And why does it matter about whatever it is being on the bottom or side of the trans?? LOL they do this stuff every day!
  19. Well this is one post I was really hoping I'd never have to make at least for a long LOOONG time, that I absolutely dread to post, and wish to god I didn't have to. Unfortunately my usually happy doggy story has taken a very tragic turn for the worst. Late Thursday afternoon I had received a phone call at work from my landlords who live next door, and they gave me some news that literally made my body numb...... they said one of my dogs had been shot. I absolutely couldn't believe it. I made my way home to get the rest of the story, and my landlords next door came over crying..... with a very heavy heart and many tears, I'm sad to say my sweet boy Riley had crossed the rainbow bridge. To make a long story short, it turns out my shitbag whitetrash neighbor shot him in cold blood, saying that Riley "attacked his pant leg"..... which is complete and utter bullshit. Riley was still rather shy, and absolutely would NOT go up to anyone but me. People could have food or treats to give him and he still wouldn't go up and take it from them. Not to mention he's had all his beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes, which he passed with flying colors, as well as his CGC certificate which he also passed with flying colors...... doesn't exactly sound like stuff an aggressive dog would have. The further I get into it, the more I see that LOTS of stuff just isn't adding up I took him into the vets Friday evening for a necropsy and got a lot of useful information. Looks like he was shot 3 times, twice in the rear FROM A DISTANCE with a bird shot, and then once almost point blank near the head, which was ultimately what killed him. They checked his teeth for evidence of a fight or any fabric material (dude says his pants are all torn), and found absolutely nothing.... the only thing in his mouth was some grass. So needless to say, I'm building myself a legal case against this guy, gonna get all my ducks in a row, get as many people and agencies and whatnot involved as I can, and then hopefully nail this asshole to the f'ing wall, and am going to take every legal option I have to do so. The guy from Pet Heaven came yesterday and picked him up to take him to get cremated.... he should be back on Monday afternoon and I'll build him a nice little memorial to hang up here in the house where he can watch over his sister and his step-mama that love him just as much And everyone please share this.... trying to get as many people, agencies, organizations, etc involved in this. Contacting an attorney as well Here's the original thread with all their pics and stories http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=221642 RIP Riley.... 1-16-11 (gotcha!) - 7-18-13. 2.5 years old was waaaaay too young, especially to end it like this. Run free sweet boy...... I love you and miss you soooo much already
  20. Cool deal will do...... I wasn't quite sure either (I'm no expert by ANY stretch of the imagination, lol) but I used pretty much every one that was listed in the "brightest LED's" thread here a few days ago. The VLED's I ordered for the reverse lights were back ordered until tomorrow so it'll probably be another week or so before I get those, but the rest should be here this week (I hope)
  21. The UPS dude brought me new goodies today :hyper: And finally..... been meaning to pick up a hitch for forever now, lol. Keeping my eyes open for a slightly larger trailer too since I can pull a little more now than with my Accord Also got a handful of LED's on the way (interior lights, lic plate, and reverse lights)..... had my Edge for 9 months now and haven't done jack to it other than the factory navi swap... I had to do something, lol
  22. The PCM is located in the wiper cowl on the passenger side under the hood..... but you don't connect the VCM to the PCM, you connect it to the data link connector which is in the LH kick panel under the steering column
  23. Yes, both should be running..... likely culprit is the fan control module, but you could have a bad motor as well. Unplug the A/C high pressure siwtch (in the A/C high pressure line near the airbox), start engine and wait a minute or so, both fans should default to the HI setting. If not or only one turns on, start checking voltage at the fan itself
