I agree..... you're really better off to just replace the entire caliper and be done with it. Of course you can replace the pistons but you risk a damaged seal and potential leaks. Reman calipers aren't that much, I'd play it safe and just replace the caliper. This is one of those things you definitely don't want to mess up, lol

Well I've been working here for Ford as a dealer tech (mostly diesel trucks) for the past 11.5 years now..... I've enjoyed the actual work but sick and tired of all the BS that goes with it.... mainly getting paid flat rate, and never knowing if I'm actually gonna have a paycheck or not. Basically getting tired of working for free This new job has actually been a loooong time in the making.... I had originally interviewed there almost 2 years ago, in the spring of 2013. I already knew that this particular company is hard as hell to get into and takes a looong time. But we were proceeding forward, but they don't generally hire outright, and they sent it through a temp service (a place I absolutely hate) as kind of a part time temp to hire. But I jumped through all their hoops, waited 5 months and finally was gonna start. They knew I had to keep my current job during the week since they wouldn't hire me on full time, and then wouldn't work with me at all on the one saturday a month where the schedules overlap by a couple hours. So I pretty much said screw it and just forgot about it as I was so frustrated with dealing with them at that point. Then completely out of the blue, a year and a half later, the original engineer that I had first interviewed with back in the spring called me and said he'd like to get me back in there. He said they're weren't going through the temp service this time and that they WOULD work with my schedule. So I went in and did the math and mechanical aptitude tests that they require, drug tests, paperwork, and finally had the new hire orientation this past tuesday, so everything is done and I'm ready to go. Scheduled to start bright and early tomorrow morning (sat) at 7 am. Only gonna be doing sat and sun for now 12 hrs each, and then a couple hours at night during the week as I'll still be working both jobs for awhile until we know it's a good fit and I like it and everything before I quit where I'm at now. So I'm pretty excited.... a little nervous as I'm getting into something completely new, but we'll see how it goes. The company is supposed to be fantastic to work for.... known around town as being "THE" place to work. The pay is very good, starting off it's only a couple dollars less than what I'm making on flat rate, and it's hourly..... so a steady income. And compared to the 5 days of PTO time I started off with here, I get 17 the first year at the new place.... definitely can't complain about that, lol. Among many others as well The company is Continental Teves, if anybody has ever heard of them (HUUUGE worldwide company). This particular plant makes hydraulic control unit boxes for ABS/stability control systems for just about every auto manufacturer out there. Including many of the vehicles I currently work on. Sooooo tomorrow is the big day.... we'll see how it goes!

Definitely good to have a fresh battery in these colder temps! I had mine detailed today..... I was lazy though and didn't do it myself lol. I paid our detail guy at work, as he's kinda hurting for $$ and he's trying to get his own little side biz going (and he does good work) so I figured I'd give him a little business. He's doing the inside too but we ran out of time today so he's gonna do the inside next week and finish up a few things on the outside (trim and whatnot). But he got the wash/polish/sealer done today 2007 with 137k miles..... still cleans up pretty good I think Pics aren't the greatest cuz it was getting dark... and it's a phone camera, lol. I'll try and get some better daytime pics once it's all done and we have a nice day -
Welcome!! Congrats on the new ride.... always happy to see a fellow 1st gen in here! You're not too far away from me at all..... I'm up in Rutherford county, NC.... about an hour or so from Greenville. I get down to Spartanburg every so often.... usually doing rescue dog transports, lol

I honestly don't think I have any Edge parts in here, lol.... we rarely ever have any come into the shop with any real problems. Closest I have is that control arm laying in the middle of the big radiator, came off a 2010 MKT. Still not the same though. Most of it is diesel stuff..... and the guy next to me usually gives me his stuff too which is usually exhaust manifolds (5.4 and 4.6 3 valve motors like to eat them), wheel hubs, and rotors. -

Haven't done anything TO it in awhile..... though I need to get my front 2 windows tinted here soon, and having it detailed by our detail guy at work. And I'm due for an oil change, lol But in the meantime..... used her to haul away my scrap metal from work today, lol. And about to turn 137k here in 11 miles, hahah (running strong!) -
Awwww man that's terrible... I'm sorry to hear that We're you alright from the wreck? I hope it all works out with ins in the end

Seatbelts are a 1 time use thing..... in a crash serious enough to deploy airbags, the seatbelts have their own electronic locking mechanism, comtrolled by the restraint control module, that will lock them into place wherever they are, along with the pretensioner, which is on the buckle. It has a "charge" similar to that of the airbag, just without the bag. It pulls the buckle down really fast (ie shortens the length of the 'stalk' that attaches the buckle to the vehicle body) to help lock the seat belt reaaalllly fast and pull it tight. All of this happens immediately when the airbags go off. So basically anytime the airbags go off you need to replace the seatbelts and pretensioners (buckles), and most times the restraint control module as well for everything to work right again. It's all 1 time use

Welcome to the forum!! What part of NC are you from? I'm kinda right in the middle between Asheville and Charlotte..... in the middle of nowhere, lol

The module itself is fine, it's usually one of the heating elements that needs to be replaced, most time the bottom cushion one. The module monitors the heating element circuits for shorts/opens, as well as the temperature, and will shut that side off if it detect a problem, hence why the lights come on and then go off real quick.... the module detected a problem in the circuit and disabled that side to keep from starting a fire or frying the module

So this past weekend I made my way over to NC BIKE for the last track weekend of the season here with Team Pro Motion, and also the chili cookoff (1st place winner gets 6 free trackdays.... YEA!!) With this big winter storm that was rolling over everybody, it got cold..... low was 25 friday night, so woke up to a nice frosty bike saturday morning. The cold made all my buddies bail so i was there all by my lonesome (as far as people I know goes) Started off a little cold but warmed up to mid 40's and the sun was shining bright, which helped a ton, so mid day it wasn't feeling bad at all! I was having a GREAT time, bike felt great, I felt great, and not to mention we only had 19 riders total, so they made it an open trackday. Meaning ride all day long as much as you want, and with only 19 riders it's pretty much track to yourself = HEAVEN! My umbrella girls were being lazy though.... Was running great all day saturday, then after lunch about 2:30 or so, I'm going into T4 (righthander) and soon as I turn in... AHHHHH my ass end tries to pass me up and slides out hard to the left. Luckily I didn't panic and hit the brakes, just stayed on the throttle, it came back around the other way, fishtailed back and forth maybe 4-5 times and then straightened out and I kept on going and made the turn just fine though a little off line, lol. It still didn't feel right though so I came in to see what was going on, and sure enough.... my poor ol' girl has sprung a leak Water pump decided to blow up So I was sad and depressed as I had already signed up and paid for both days.... there was a dealer up the road so I called them, didn't really expect them to have one but figured it was worth a shot.... of course they didn't. Had been talking to my buddy Kevin (who is a coach for TPM and have done all my TD's with this year). He was originally gonna sit this weekend out, but he was still thinking of heading up for Sunday as it was supposed to be a little warmer. He had mentioned if he did come that we could share a bike, I told him I'd pay for his gas for the entire trip if he did come and apparently that was enough motivation for him to pack up and head out. So saturday evening he drove 4+ hours from Charlotte and totally saved the day for me..... super awesome of him! And I made sure to make my thanks known to him, though he said he was glad he came anyways and he had a great time as well. So I guess it was a win-win for both of us Sooo I spent sunday tossing this beast around! 2006 Yamaha R6 Yours truly.... lol I had rode my buddies '09 R6 ones before just a short ways on the street, never really opened it up, so this was my first time really "riding" one, and hoooooollllyyy shite..... coming from my F4i, which is probably about one of the most forgiving, easy to ride sportbikes on the planet, this was a whooole different beast. The power band is freaking insane..... literally like riding a 2 stroke, lol. It was a little small for me, though I think some rearsets would have helped tremendously with my longer legs, but I couldn't really get comfortable on it. Definitely a killer track weapon for sure though...... Totally different animal than the Honda for sure! It's like every input is amplified..... definitely took some getting used to to get smooth on it. But I still had fun, and just glad I was still able to ride. And being an open day too, Kevin was able to get in just as much ride time as well. We didn't even shut the bike off the whole day, just come in, swap riders, and go back out..... back and forth all day long. Win-win for everybody! It's for sale too.....hmmmmmmm On a side note.... I didn't win the chili cookoff, but after the 1-3 place winners were announced, all the remaining participants still got 1 free trackday, so I certainly can't complain about that!

Ahhh cool deal! I travel just north of you a bit quite a bit along I40/85 going back and forth to/from Garysburg. I do a lot of trackdays out there at NC BIKE

Well I don't really have a good cooler (or any cooler at all rather, lol), but I have this mini fridge at work that I keep drinks and stuff in, so I figured I'd just take that instead of getting a cooler.... no ice to mess with or anything like that. Plugged it in friday night and turned it to MAX, was nice and cold by saturday morning, and by sunday afternoon I had a bottle of water that was completely frozen solid, and my BIG jugs of gatorade were icy slush. And my package of turkey lunchmeat was partically frozen when I went to make a sandwich for lunch, lol. So just drinks and some food for lunch and everything..... it's a pretty small fridge so wasn't a whole lot of room. Worked awesome though And no plans on tearing her down..... she's running like a dream so not really any reason to. Sunday was the 8th trackday I've done on this bike, and *knock on wood* I've never had a single issue whatsoever at any of them..... performed flawlessly every time. It's a Honda, no surprise there, lol Nice!! Yea I love them too..... wallet sure hates them but I love them, hahah. And nothing wrong with sticking to dirt either..... actually gonna be picking up a smoker here myself before too long And yea don't see too many VFR's at trackdays..... I've seen a few weird ones though. Oddly enough, another buddy of mine in Atlanta (another Kevin) rides advanced group.... on a 2002 VFR 800. He said boy does he get some weird looks.... mostly "WTF?!?!" looks, lol. Dudes crazy but he can ride! I wish I did have some video.... unfortunately my GoPro camera is MIA at the moment ..... looking like I'm probably gonna have to buy another one Ahhh cool deal..... yea I make it out to the hill every now and then Was out there a few months ago when a couple buddies from Michigan came down. I'm about 3 hours away.... not too bad -

Through tech and ready to roll! The kiddos were being lazy bums just laying around in the car, lol Rode both saturday and sunday, and had an absolute BLAST!! Probably one of the best track weekends I've had to date. My buddy Kevin helped me out tremendously with my body position which I've been struggling so much with, and with just a few helpful words and advice, everything finally started to 'click' for me. It was as simple as just dropping my inside elbow, which pulled my head down (always a prob), and then just relaxing my upper body. Soon as I did that it's like everything just fell into place. Sooooooo happy with the improvements that were had!! Of course I'm still far far far from perfect, but I do believe it was definitely a step in the right direction Ended the day sunday with a shiny bike, scraped pucks (more or less my first time getting my knee down, and now that everything is starting to flow it's pretty much every time now), and a nicely scuffed tire..... don't think I could ask for any better. And the bike ran flawlessly the entire weekend.... not a single problem whatsoever Saw some bikes you don't typically see at trackdays..... hell yea! Sunday night.... finally got everything packed up and ready to roll out. I left and went about 30-40 miles up the road and stopped to grab something to eat. Ended up being 9:30 pm before I really got on the road, and still had a 4+ hr drive ahead of me.... yea that was a laaaate night. And had to get up and go to work the next day.... I was definitely dragging. Absolutely worth it though All in all it was an absolutely awesome weekend! Weather seriously couldn't have been better.... little chilly at night for sleeping, but during the day high of 79 and sunny blue skies..... couldn't have asked for better. My buddy Kevin followed me on sunday and said I was looking great! That I'm certainly happy to hear. Definitely gonna try and make it back out again here soon.... prob later this month -
Not sure anybody here is interested in this kinda stuff or not...... but I had an awesome weekend so figured I'd post it up Been awhile since I posted anything up, so figured I'd post up a few pics from my freakin' awesome track weekend this past weekend. It's been almost 2 years since my last trackday (Oct 2012)..... not really sure why I took a little break, but I HAD to get back out there again and finally fix my damn body position that I've been struggling with since the very first one So I signed up for a weekend at NC BIKE with Team Pro Motion.... my buddy Kevin is a coach for them so I could get a good bit of one on one..... I'm still fairly new to the whole track thing and still learning lots of things I took the day off work Friday to get everything done..... bike prepped and loaded, car loaded, and kiddos loaded. And yes, the mini fridge was a must..... and it was awesome, lol We left and made our way the 5 something hours towards the NC coast...... I don't think the kiddos were quite as excited about the weekend as I was..... oh well Stopped for dinner along the way, and could already tell the weekend was off to an awesome start with a kick ass sunset My buddy Kevin and his friend Chad were on their way up from Charlotte the same time I was making my way there, and we ended up meeting up along the way and going the rest of the way together.... we finally rolled in about 10:30 After we got everything set up and Kevin did some work on his bike, we all got some sleep..... Had my own cozy little setup in here lol. Had to fight for my spot though, haha Woke up to an absolutely beautiful cool morning saturday

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Well not really 'today', but over the weekend she got lots of use! Drove 611 miles with my trailer, went out to Garysburg, NC to NC BIKE for a trackday with Team Pro Motion. Was my first time back out on the track in almost 2 years, and was hands down my best trackday to date..... absolutely incredible weekend Loaded up and ready to roll And hauled the kiddo too..... I don't think the were quite as excited as I was about the weekend, lol Finally got to use it for one of the main reasons I bought it for, lol..... camping out in at trackdays! Was actually quite cozy Errrrr that is when I could get my spot...... dang bed hogs Aaaand the drive home...... yeeeaaaa it was a late night last night, lol..... got home at 2:15 am after being up since 6:30 am and going triple digit speeds on a race track all day. I'm a little wiped today, lol -
Dealer obligated to repair TSB's during service visits?
thirdgenlxi replied to Van G's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Not to mention the fact that us techs can't possibly remember every single TSB for every year and model of vehicle. The TSB's are nothing more than information for US to use to help diagnose and fix common problems. Plus if it is still under warranty, a dealer isn't about to do ANY warranty work they don't have to...... our warranty numbers would be through the roof! If there is a problem that the customer is complaining about, we run OASIS to see if there is a TSB that applies, and determine if warranty coverage applies from that point.... that's all TSB's are for...information only. We do look the vehicles over but it's the customers responsibility to notify us of problems..... our job is to get the car in, fix it, and get it out the door. We're paid flat rate, we get paid to fix your car, not to go over it with a comb and find every little problem..... you drive it everyday, that's your job -
Possibly the TSS/OSS sensors.... though those usually set a code. Have you checked the fluid level and condition??
-
Awesome....Still looking great!! Glad to hear she's still going strong and treating you well I forget, was it still on the original motor and tranny and everything too? Mine is still a baby, lol...... sitting at 130,317 as of right now (literally..... where I'm at right now, haha). Other than a very mild brake vibration from the front rotors, it hasn't given me a single problem since buying in Nov 2012 with 97k. Gotta put some new tires on here before too long. My old '89 Honda Accord is at 438k and going strong as well..... just drove it some over the weekend
