  1. Well I've been wanting some sort of navigation since my blind ass can't see ANYTHING at night, or during the day rather either (can't see street signs or anything.... seriously my vision is horrible). Anyways, I just had the regular old 6 disk radio, but a buddy of mine works at LKQ (I used to work there with him a few years back) and had bought this nav unit for his '07 Expedition he was driving around at the time. He put the stock radio back in when he sold it, and still had this one sitting around.... ended up getting it for super cheap (waaaaay less than these same units are going for on ebay). I would have liked the '09+ unit, but hey I can't afford to be picky, lol. Programming was a bit of an adventure... it was originally out of an '08 F-150/Mark LT according to the part #, and it turned on and worked when I first plugged it in, but stuff like the steering wheel controls and whatnot would not work. I couldn't reprogram it using my own module config data of course cuz it was just the regular radio, so I tried the as-built data from several '08's but apparently those were different and the IDS wasn't letting me enter the correct as-built data. So I ended up having to go on autotrader and find an '07 Edge with factory nav (ebay had none, only '08+), and it had the VIN listed so I used that to get the as-built data for that one, then go back and start a new session on the IDS using a special functions code that will force as-built data instead of trying to download the current config data from that module when you go to program it. Worked perfectly... programming was successful, all steering wheel controls and line-in jack work perfectly, Sirius and all works fine too. I still need to buy a GPS antenna so the nav isn't working just yet. Also getting an error message about the nav DVD, saying it's the wrong one or something like that. Not sure if the discs vary by vehicle or if it had been previously updated to a new DVD and programming it with as-built put it back to an earlier level or what (has the 6P DVD in it). Or if the GPS antenna missing would have anything to do with it either (prob not). So still trying to figure that one out. But otherwise it's great! I'm not sure if I'm going crazy or what but it actually seems like it sounds better too.... who knows Anyways... before New unit
  2. No problem... here ya go! (click to enlarge) Not sure which audio system you have or with/without rear DVD system, but it looks like the door speaker wire colors are the same for all of them
  3. Yea I think that's about the only way to tell is just follow the wires from the connector down to the spades on the speaker. I'm guessing they're probably all the same, so there's a good chance they are on yours too. You got a wiring diagram to see which is +/- in the factory connector?? I can look it up and screenshot if you need it
  4. I don't know if this has been covered here yet or not, but just ran into this so figured I'd put it up here since I know a lot of us are doing speaker upgrades. Not sure if anybody else uses these things or not, but I just replaced my rear speakers (went with some Polk Audio DB571... big improvement!!), and I don't like cutting into factory wiring harnesses so I got some of the Metra factory connector pigtails These... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Metra+-+Speaker+Wire+Harness+Adapter+for+Most+1999+or+Later+Ford+Trucks/3866409.p?id=1051826168689&skuId=3866409 Anyways, I just plugged them in and didn't think anything of it, finished it all up and tried it out and it just didn't sound quite right, especially at higher volumes something just seemed off (the front stock speakers actually sounded a little better, lol). So I took it back apart and started comparing to the wiring diagram, and sure enough the polarity in these connectors is reversed. The spade connectors and wire colors are right on the pigtail part where it plugs into the speaker, but at the connector it's flip flopped from the factory connector. I tried using a pick to get the pins out of the connector to swap them and avoid cutting the wires, but they're kind of a one time deal and couldn't get them out, so ended up having to cut/splice the wires side to side. Much better now Just figured I'd give a heads up for anybody that might be using these. On a side note.... I'm liking these new speakers! Gotta do the fronts next, then sub and maybe HU at some point
  5. Awesome.... congrats on the new ride! I really like the new Fusions.... and the EcoBoost always rocks my socks.... hope you enjoy it and it treats you well
  6. Looks real good!! I may have to look into something like that one of these days...
  7. Since it's a new car you're likely on the trial period that comes with all new cars with factory Sirius, so it's not gonna have ALL the stations. You have to add the premier package to get more stations, the trial is pretty much just the basic stuff. It's just like cable TV... they give you some, but then you gotta pay more to get the rest
  8. Every one I've ever known has always been that way.... the auto button turns the function on only, if you want it to do something else you have to tell it what you want it to do (aka manual). I've never seen one where pushing the auto button turned it off.... mine is an older version ('07) but still auto climate control, and if it's in auto and I push auto again it doesn't do anything other than stay right where it's at. If you want it to do another function, you have to give it another function to do... fan speed, vent direction, recirc on/off, etc
  9. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Edge!! What type of phone do you have?? Most sync problems we see with pairing issues it's a problem with the phone more than the sync system..... older phones never seem to work that well for some reason. Also if you are in an area where cell phone service is very spotty (such as where I'm at here in the mountains in NC), if you lose service on your phone it will disconnect from sync.... we've run into that multiple times here
  10. Excellent...... glad to hear you're liking it! :D
  11. ALWAYS a good idea to keep receipts..... multiple times we've had Ford, for both factory warranty and ESP, say "show me receipts/maintenance records", for a variety of issues..... we've had them ask for fuel filter receipts for the diesels when they need injectors, high pressure fuel pump, engines (6.4's like to overfuel and melt pistons) etc, as well as transmissions. Had them ask for oil change receipts on the diesels too that needed motors. Trust me just cuz you change you're oil often doesn't mean stuff can't still happen. And if you have an outside warranty, they always try ANYTHING they can to get out of paying for it (seriously there's only 2 decent outside warranty companies, all the rest are scumbag crooks and will find a way out of paying anything)..... the first thing they do for pretty much any claim is ask for maintenance records. Had an older F-150 awhile back with the transmission burnt up, they said we want maintenance records of fluid being changed, he didn't have any.... they told him 'sorry....'. Always always always save receipts!! Even if you do it yourself
  12. Welcome to the forum!! Congrats on your new Edge.... sound like the issue you're having is covered in TSB 11-12-10, which is a reprogram of the PCM as well as a valve body modification to fix the 'bump' from a rolling stop at slow speeds

Yea it's stupid.... I understand having to have so many posts to sell stuff in classifieds and whatnot, but never been on a forum where you had to have so many posts to PM somebody (and I'm on a lot of forums, lol). And if they're gonna have it set up like that, I wish they'd at least have it set up so other people can't PM somebody that has less than 50 posts and can't PM back. I got a PM from somebody yesterday and then couldn't reply.... kinda makes me look like an asshole not responding when somebody is asking me a question
  14. $200 for an oil change and multipoint?!?! Holy freakin crap!! Multipoint inspections are free here and done on every vehicle, and as techs we don't even get paid to do them. Our oil changes are usually $24.95, lol But yes, absolutely change my own.... like mentioned above, just use the correct viscosity and whatnot and keep all receipts and you'll be fine for warranty... no worries Just changed mine yesterday actually....
  15. Nice!! I've seen some of those Explorers run for a long long time! I like the older OHV 4.0's more than the SOHC 4.0's..... **timing chain nightmares** eek! :hide: And yea it's in super good shape...... one of the main reasons I bought it, not only cuz it was what I needed, but cuz it was so clean both inside and out, and could tell it had been well cared for. And since I bought it from the dealer I work at, was able to get a pretty good deal (almost $4000 under NADA).... pretty much at cost. I couldn't say no. I posted a few more pics in my intro thread.... some at the top and more further down http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11536-new-guy-here-just-bought-my-07-sel/
  16. Changed her lifeblood today too.... put some good stuff in. Same combo I use in everything else, never had a single prob and almost 700k miles combined between 2 vehicles (one of which runs up to 14,000 RPM). Did a drain and fill on the trans fluid too.... should be good to go for a bit
