Anyone have an MKX ('11-'13) with 18" wheels?
omar302 replied to Limited59's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
^^ Simply buy it with the 20" wheels & then put them up for swap. There are many who are willing to exchange their 18" wheels for the 20" wheels. -
It states in the manual that the oil life meter can reach up to 16000 km or one year. The manual recommends following the oil life meter. It seems the sticker you are refering to is just the dealer's way to get to come more often! By the way, even in extreme heat like in the Arabian Gulf, GCC, Ford recommends a 8000 km or 6 month interval (whichever earlier), basically a 50% oil life meter.

Dingo, few question if its not too much; Is there any difference in wind noise due to the smaller side view mirrors? Can you confirm, the high beam turn on function on the '13 is by pushing the turn signal stalk "away" (towards front of vehicle) where as in the '11 (like my MKX) is by pulling the stalk towards you past the detent? (both will have the "flash to pass" by pulling).

Remote Start Kit Series 200 Plug & Play
omar302 replied to rsucre's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Your vehicle comes with an Integrated Keyhead Transmitters (IKT), basically the key & FOB are a single unit. If you want Remote start+ Alarm, I would suggest any of the following two routes: First option: Install the Remote Start System - 100 Series Plug-N-Play, which would replace your "IKT" with another one that includes a start button. And install the Ford Vehicle Security System - Alarm which would Arm/Disarm using the same "IKT" that unlocks/locks your doors. Thisoption, if possible, would give you the best "Factory look/function". Second option: Install the same Remote Start Kit Series 200 you mentioned, but you can buy regular Ford PATS key (without the FOB integrated) & use it with the new FOB from the series 200 kit. -
From the 2013 Edge Owner's Manual: So a hood switch will be installed if the vehicle is equiped with the "Perimeter Alarm".

First 5,000 mile service -- what kind of services do I need
omar302 replied to Jessey's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
A tip for those who like a 5000 mile oil change interval is to reset the oil life meter to 50%. This way you would get a reminder at around 5000 miles or 6 months, give or take a few. -

Congrats. Hope you enjoy your new ride. -
This seems to be the same issue in late 2013 builds of the Explorer, 2011-2012 and early 2013 did not have this, its supposed to be a reminder that the vehicle is left running without a key inside. As far as I know, there is no way to disabble it. You can try to check with your dealer if there is a way for them to disable it.

Is that while driving at 90 Km/h? Straight line? I mean not going an uphill? If so, then 13L/100 Km is high. You should get 10 or less. You say this is as displayed, have you ever calculated your economy manualy to check if the display is showing correct info?

Where we live, in the GCC counties, we have extreme city driving. It is pretty normal in a single commute to accelrate from 5 to 60 mph 10 to 15 times for a short 10 minute drive.

Is there an indicator light for head lights on?
omar302 replied to RJG's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The indicator shown in OnTheFence's picture is part of the LCD screen, so it might be a new program/update of the cluster, not an actual hardware change. I guess you can try and politely ask your dealer to update the cluster software (wich is not part of the MFT/MLT). -
I think it is because you have the system on Auto (for the air flow direction) so it might be that the system sometimes transfers the air flow to "Defrost" or "Defrost+Floor" & hence the recirculation turning off. Next time, try setting the air flow manualy to your preferred setting and test to see if recirculation turns off.

I meant keep the engine running. While you are stopped waiting, do you keep the engine running for long periods of time? Try driving a long road, like 10km straight at 90km/h, what would your average mileage be?
-
That speed limit feature is part of the Ford MyKey system. It will not have any effect on the mileage. On the other hand, the slower you go on the highway, the better the mileage should be. Your mileage is bad, but, do u do a lot of traffic driving? Do u leave the runnin running while stationary? These will badly effect your milage.

That seat memory thing also happens in my MKX. The courtesy wipe, I first saw it in a 2007 Toyota Avalon. The faster you were driving, the earlier the wipe came until you would reach a speed were it would not come anymore. Speaking of wipers, another nice feature is the reverse wipe. If you your front wipers on, as soon as you reverse, the rear wipers makes a wipe (even when they are off). A feature that is also controlled via the left screen settings.

In case of none wooden steering wheels, that part is also heated.

3.5.1 Update tomorow. Advice opinions please
omar302 replied to blockisle9's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Yes, master reseting will delete all your data. Its not a format cause you dont have to reinstall anything, but kind of like a restore to factory state. -
F29 reset - back up cam has changed.
omar302 replied to Tacyon's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You cannot reflash yourself. Only the dealer can. Did you check the settings? They might have been turned off. If not, perhaps try a master reset? -
I just noticed that the gear shift indicator on the center console does NOT indicate which position is selected. Is that normal? All positions are illuminated white, I thaught that the selected position would be orange. Is that normal?

Your car has a regular key, so the car should start even if the battery is dead! Also, since the door lock was opened using the FOB, the battery must have been ok. Did you try the same key again later?

The oil life indicator is like a calculator that takes milage, time & engine operating conditions into account to calculate oil life. The system does NOT actually measure the oil life by a sensor. For those who would like to go for a 5000 miles (or six months) intervals, simply adjust the Oil life to 50% after an oil change. As for the other services to be performed, what I understand, you have to do them with any oil change interval that comes within 3000 miles, but if you reach the milage specified for any service, but you do not have any oil change requirement within 3000 miles, then you should perform that service without waiting for an oil change.
