  1. Is it a Ford accessory? How does the fob look like? Is it a new key with an extra button? or an additional fob with a single button? If it is a Ford accessory, their should be a new setting in the instrument cluster settings were you can select the options for climate control that are described in the Owners Manual. After installing the remote start, the dealer would enable the additional settings. There are 3 types offered by Ford, you can check them here: http://accessories.ford.com/vehicles/edge/2012/electronics/remote-start.html
  2. From the FAQ in the below link, the ESP purchaser needs to transfer the remainder of the ESP to the new owner for a fee. So it is a normal procedure. http://www.troy-ford-extended-warranty.com/Ford-Extended-Warranty-Questions-s/2581.htm
  3. Maintenance should nearly (if not exactly) equal, except for replacement tires. But note that the Limited has more options not available on the Sport like HID headlights (not sure what else).
  4. Suspension stiffness feel is different from one person to another, what was your previous ride? Newer cars are generally stiffer than old cars due to design & age. Also, what wheel size you got? Bigger wheels will have a stiffer ride. And make sure the air pressure in them is not too high.
  5. As per the 2014 order guide, only color changes. Even without any changes, 1000-1500 USD is something I would gladly pay to get a 2014 over a 2013 if all other things are equal. You can download a copy of the order guide from here: http://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?9291-OrderGuides-F-L-2014my&p=116546&viewfull=1#post116546

    Gas Gauge question

Is that +/-, or always or more? The reason I ask is that I always end up putting around 0.5 gallon more than the indicated consumed fuel.
  7. Well, for only 1000-1500 differences, I'd definitely would go for a 2014.
  8. Did you figure out how much exactly you'd have to pay extra for a 2014?
  9. Ok, I did some testing today. Sitting inside the MKX, leaving the driver's window open & locking it using the keypad, while the IA key/fob is with me inside: Pressing the brake pedal & pushing the start button; engine does not start, get a "no key found" message. Opening the door (with unlocking it using the fob or keypad); get a message to start car or alarm will go off. Pressing the brake & start button, nothing, alarm will still go off. All ok, BUT, pressing the unlock on the IA key/fob, the same one that is inside the car that will not start the engine, will unlock the door & then I can start the engine. Also, opening the door & setting the alarm (car starts honking), pressing the unlock button will unlock the door & disable the alarm. Engine can start. So, as I guessed earlier, if an intruder finds your IA key hidden inside the car, he can disable the alarm & takeoff with car. But if the IA key is hidden, the alarm will not be disabled, & the engine cannot be started. So, for those who keep their IA key inside, make sure it is well hidden.
  10. Your only problem would be if the intruder finds the hidden IA key & presses the unlock button. The car would then disable the Alarm & will start by pressing the start button (while holding the brakes).
  11. Thanks Haz for the video, didn't know that the Flex & MKT were built along side the Edge/MKX, anyway, I think I would be good at the inspector job, at the 0:57 mark in the video, you can see a Flex leaving but its rear wiper is stopped at a pretty high angle, no way that's normal. Makes you wonder, if such an obvious thing goes unnoticed in such a video, who knows how many other hidden things are wrong not caught by QA/QC. Seriously, Quality Control at Ford needs a refresh. Edit, screenshot attached.
  12. The other day I noticed that all four doors had rough edges on the top & bottom of the door latch. They look like they were hit by a sharp thing. Never noticed them before & they are on all 4 doors. The top one is bigger than the one below. There is nothing on the other side were the door closes to explain it. Anyone has something similar? Looking at it now, could these be welding spots? They sure to look like a possible future rust area.
  13. 2011+ Edge Limited & Sport & all MKX models have acoustic front side glass, so this also adds to the difference in sound deadening between a SE/SEL Edge and an MKX.
  14. I tried Teflon SHIELD® and they're great in the rain, don't know about snow though.
  15. It is not normal. What year & model is your Edge? Does it have MyFord Touch? If yes, is it updated? Tried to reset it?
  16. It is NOT normal. Definitely take it to the dealer to get it fixed.
  17. Yes. I know I have a problem, but since it still passes Ford's test procedure, I cannot get it fixed now. Have to wait till it gets worse to fail the test.
  18. A suggestion to anyone facing this problem, try a master reset and/or a battery cable disconnect for 10-15 minutes to reset all the electronics.
  19. The problem is that Ford's way of testing the booster for vacuum leaks is to wait 10 minutes after shutting the engine off, if vacuum is present, booster is fine. I remember in most cars, vacuum would remain for at lease a day. With my MKX, currently barely getting an hour, maybe less, I don't usually notice it because I remote start it 90% of the time, but it is slowly failing. Procedure is listed in page 15 (point 7) in attached document which I got from this forum. Ford Edge Brakes Info.pdf
  20. If you mean the sunglass holder with map lights, just pull it from the back side (towards the rear of the car). It will come out, there are no screws holding it.
  21. Well, Ford is now willing to take the risk, the 2015 Mustang will show each tire's pressure.
  22. From the owners manual, the following messages appear on the instrument cluster: CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOONDisplayed when the engine oil life remaining is 10% or less. OIL CHANGE REQUIREDDisplayed when the oil life left reaches 0%.
  23. Checking the Grand Cherokee's website, it doesn't offer cooled seats. It has available "ventilated seats". Simple fans. Ford/Lincoln has "cooled" seats that actually cool the sear, not just blow air. Taycon: In 2013, Ford changed to a hard button for the 4-way flasher. Was watching the how-to video for the lockpick installation and noticed how simple it was to remove the panel and started wondering if a panel from a 2013 (with the hard button) would work in a 2011.
