Did you check that the tires are not over inflated? Manufacturer recommendation is 35 psi.

Performance mods you would like to see for the Edge/MKX
omar302 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Mods & Tech
The Edge does not have limited slip axles, its the Traction Control that makes act as such. Also, as far as I know, Ford only used the Haldex AWD in 2005-2007 FiveHundred/Montego/Freestyle. In 2008+ they switched to a Ford developed PTU, including the SHO.- 32 replies

Blew the cigarette lighter fuse
omar302 replied to Ozimandius's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Middle East modifications wouldn't change such things. But here any power outlet in a car that looks like the cigarette lighter plug is named so. -
If you mean the ability to exit the car while engine is still running, you just exit. Keep the fiber with you & you'll be able to lock the doors normally using the exterior door handle. There is no special procedure or buttons to do so. But remember that your engine will remain running. Some newer Fords (not sure of the Edge) have an idle auto engine off if the engine remains running for ~45 minutes.
-
Remember that the AWD works in tandum with the Traction Control & Stability Control.
-
Maybe the car was previously involved in a front accident & was not repaired/aligned properly? Try to remove the bulbs & make sure they are seated correctly? Make sure they are the correct type for your Edge, HIR2 (9012).

I am always amazed how some tend to take decisions based on (slightly) better mileage when your paying close to 100 grand on a Sports Vehicle. Like what would a 2-5 mpg difference cost you? Take for example 20K miles in a year, USD 4 per gallon & 22 mpg highway ('14 X5 xDrive50) compared to 17 mpg highway ('14 X5m), that would equate to approximately USD 1,000 more in fuel cost. What is 1% of the X5m's cost affect in the decision?? Note: the 2015 X5m now gets the 8-speed & will be more efficient, so there you go, your decision on the X5m couldn't be made any much easier. Congrats in advance.

keyless entry system questions
omar302 replied to cams-76's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The feature, as per Ford, is called "Intelligent Access Push Button Start" & you are correct that it is part of the Driver Entry Package". Also,if the car has push button start then it will also have the feature your asking about, they both come as a package. -
Speedometer and Cruse not in sync.
omar302 replied to roadkill401's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
On my MKX, the cruise set speed & the Speedo match exactly. My guess would be a calibration/software update required. As for akirby's comment regarding the speedo showing a faster speed, you are dead on. This can be confirmed using a GPS, but you can also see that it is actually made in the programming of the cluster, if you enter the engineering/test mode in the cluster, you can see the raw speed displayed which is very close to the GPS reading & higher than the speedometer/cruise speed. Entering the Engineering/Test menu: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3086315&postcount=2 -
Found this PDF confirming 6F35: https://canada.fleet.ford.com/downloads/Edge%20EcoBoost%20Press%20ReleaseEN%20-%20Aug8.pdf

I believe the 2.0 EcoBoost Edge has the 6F35 tranny.

The Edge with the 2.0 EcoBoost I believe has a 6F35 tranny.

For anyone needing to replace the PTU, I suggest researching for the Middle East version of the PTU with the oils drain plug. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13533-13m01-middle-east-ptu-extended-warranty/

Could be the wiper switch/stalk. There was a recent member with a nearly similar problem: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17087-wipers-stuck-on-intermittent/ Edit: If you have rain sensing wipers, it might be a different problem: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14556-2011-edge-wipers-turn-on-randomly/

You can also get these, better looking than plain black tire valve stems: http://m.ebay.com/itm/130918503267 Or http://m.ebay.com/itm/131263053788

Check the Owners Manual, there is an AWD Gauge in the Instrument Cluster. If you have the base cluster (with a single display), it should be under information. If you have the 2 screens, it is under Display Mode.
-
As per owners manual, Edges with push button start call for the BXT-65 battery while for the others BXT-59. So they both probably fit fine.

ABS (with its vibration & sound) will kick in considerably more on snow & low traction situations compared to dry roads. If you want to test it, brake hard on a wet patch or some sand/gravel/mud.

2011 Sport EDGE SIDE MIRRORS
omar302 replied to NexusFFO's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Seems my memory isn't that good. Here is a thread were someone tried the opposite & while the mirrors bolted up fine, he had an issue with BLIS. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14312-2013-mkx-mirror-size-vs-2011/ -
2011 Sport EDGE SIDE MIRRORS
omar302 replied to NexusFFO's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I don't remember reading any post about someone doing the swap before, but since the mirrors were changed mid year in 2011 (Job 2 maybe), it is highly likely that the mirrors will be swappable directly except for the wiring for the LED signals. I checked my 2011 MKX (May'11 build with the old mirrors) & there are 2 empty slots in the harness. Also note that the new mirrors are considerably smaller, this means less wind noise AND less visibility. -
Try to remove the fuse & see what happens.

If you have "Sony" written below the center speaker, then you have the Sony system. Also some speakers are actually 2 or more speakers together. I couldn't find an image for the Edge's Sony System, but the attached image for the MKX should be similar except for the slot speaker (3 speakers) where it is probably a single speaker in the Edge. It would depend, the older type module would be connected at the rear quarter panel while the newer module is installed in front under the steering wheel. Check this post by @candurin for details he provided: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17035-adding-oem-remote-start-kits-parts-explained-detailed-2011/
