2015 EDGE and HIDS
omar302 replied to Teddis's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
This is for a Volvo, but you get an idea of how to install H9s in place of H11s. -
I have a different Camera issue, dealer said they will replace the camera to resolve it. Basically, my problem is that the camera would become very noisy (grainy) at night if I had been driving for a while and the weather was hot. Shutting off the car for ~2 minutes & restarting, the Camera would become clear. Same place, same time, same lighting. Before shutting off the engine: After shutting off, ~2 minutes & restart: Video I made, non stop shooting: https://youtu.be/547oSfgPJZs

Please correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding with "Smart Charging" is that if the battery does not need charging (or if the system detects so), then the charging system would NOT charge the battery. If that's the case, wouldn't the voltage drop?

Add nav to a 2011 with myford touch?
omar302 replied to tknice's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Someone came up with a way to enable it on non-Nav equipped vehicles (for ~$500): http://www.fordpimods.com/navigation-mft.html -
I would say it's the blend door actuator for the driver's side.

Got pictures of them? Especially the tears?

Just for info, this video shows the oem cargo shade (roller type) for the 2015 Edge. @ ~ 6:20 https://youtu.be/aP60qT-yEH0

They are front & rear fog lamp indicators. The same cluster is used in other Ford products that might have them. So you'll never see them turn on on the Edge, at least for the current model.

2015 Edge - First Year Model Problems?
omar302 replied to alzakx's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Actually, the 2015 Edge is a totally brand new design. It has a completely new platform that is not related to the older generation, only the 3.5L V6 is carried over.- 37 replies

Wiring for Paddle Shifters - Sport & non-Sport
omar302 replied to omar302's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Yes, the diagram shows like that. But still, don't want to open up the dash & steering column unless I know what I will be doing or what to find. -
Seat Filter for Cooled Seats - Design Changed!
omar302 replied to omar302's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Actually, comparing the 2, the new one feels more expensive except for the missing filter element (which does feel very cheap anyway). -
Yesterday I purchased a replacement filter for the cooled seat & was surprised that it is no longer a filter! It is just a plastic piece with holes in it (assuming to protect from larger items to enter). Searching online, I found it was indeed a Motorcraft/Ford design change, but couldn't find any technical reasons for it. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/oem-seat-filters-missing-element-288462/ You can see the Old vs. New pictures attached. Front: Back: Reading in several 2015 Ford Owners Manuals such as the 2015 Edge's, it seems they are "Lifetime Filters"! Anyone know of an official reason for the change or inside info? I am no Expert, but looking at how older cars never had Cabin Air Filters & with their climate control systems working for many years without problems, I wouldn't expect any problems from these "replacements". Also, note that the replacement "part" is made out of sturdy plastic that is hard to bend, while the old filter was very flimsy & just had "nylon net" holding the filter element. Theoretically, I think the older design could have allowed damage to the fan (which is just behind the filter) if someone were to "stuff" something under the seat.

Did you try the Dimmer Panel Switch or re-calibrating it? From the Owners Manual:

Porsche actually does this, at least on the Cayenne: Inflate: Deflate:

Like what @Sean Jones said, it has Nav. Only make sure when getting the card that the Nav SD Card is present, and if buying it from a Ford Dealer, maybe also negotiate to get the latest A6 Maps SD Card.

If you think it is becoming dangerous to drive, don't drive it & call Ford Roadside assist.

Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT

Nothing. But I think you should disconnect the battery for ~ 10 minutes. The APIM is still covered by a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. So you can take it to the Dealer.

need help removal back panel of driver and passenger seat
omar302 replied to grossmachine's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Anyone know how to remove the back panels of the front seats? would like to take a look at the cooled seat ducting. -
Unfortunately, like what others said, you'll barely feel the cooled back. Though the heated function can be felt during the winter. I researched this for my MKX, & found the same common complaint on most Ford/Lincoln vehicle with cooled seats. To confirm that the is actually cooled, check the spar parts & diagrams & they would confirm the presence of a seat & back (2 different) cooling/heating devices. It seems, in my opinion, the weaker cooling of the back is either due the seat air filter being at the bottom (farther from the back module) or it might be designed that way as a persons back can easily hurt from cold air especially after sweating.

This H15 bulb is new to me. It seems that its a dual filament bulb, 55W/15W, designed for the high beam (55W) & DRL (15W). Image: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/gerardleesgp/media/Golf%20VI/P24-03-09_092201.jpg.html Also, as per the 2015 Owners manual (replacement guide), non HID equipped Edge, has 9005 Low beams & H15 High beam/DRL (edit: Manual states 9005 High Beam for non HID while the H15 DRL seems to be general). For HID equipped Edges, the D3S is used for both Low & High beam (similar to older 2011-14 Edge). Still, the H15 bulb is still present on HID bulbs. From the above, would the H15 also function as a High Beam for HID equipped vehicles? It might also be used for the "Flash to Pass" function, while regular highs would utilize the HIDs. This would be an area for a mod to allow both, the H15 high & HID to turn on to make for a double high beam setup.

In my opinion, if you really are thinking of the 51D & Sync3, then wait. If you don't wait for them, you'll start regretting why you did not wait. Losing a little from not benefitting from the 12% offer is far easier than starting to regret not getting everything you wanted in your 40k+ vehicle, especially one that you ordered.
