I miss the obvious "new posts" link ... oh, I see it now in upper right corner "View New Content"- on a 30" monitor, that gets a bit lost way out there and not as part of the main navi wish I could delete the Social Media section from my view - no value to me wish I could delete or move to the bottom the Recent Gallery Images - little value to be as the first thing I see every time I log in

interesting.. 3 hours ago this did not exist and then POW.. all new upgrade in look and feel.. will have to look under the hood and see what else has changed

just be patient and don;t force it early as usually these things can come back UNLESS you try them early and try to send power through wet electronics - that is when the damage can be done and it was fine all along. BTW, I also recall I set it all on top of my computer bay as that puts out a slight bit of even mild warmth/heat and just slowly adds to the help I believed. speed of drying and full drying is key.

SILVERSTAR HEADLIGHT BULBS
Lex Talionis replied to Mr. Westfield's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
sorry for delayed anwer, I guess I missed this I used Retro Solutions electronic NOT slim ballast kit, 35w, 5000k... he is a seller here at the price now, I would likely just get the slim kit, but it is not needed as we have plenty of room read up on the HID threads here as there is a lot of info on these here: relays or no relays, 5000 versus other color, 35w versus 55w... more than you could ever want to know is the HID threads -
no worries.. the navi DVD upgrades are a popular topic here and many of us have been looking at cheaper ways of getting the 8p - $95-99 is the lowest eBay price yet for a fact - and so if you start a rumor 10p is out, people are going to flip

HOW TO Replacing fog light bulbs MKX
Lex Talionis replied to klc317's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
good photos.. people over estimate the ease & speed of swapping these small hands help to get into the tight space they are not like doing your headlamps -
do you have old silica desiccant packs that come with your electronics? pack it in those for a few days in a dry container. I resurrected an iPod this way and did not have to dismantle it.
-
as I said in the other thread, I think your incorrect.. no such thing as 10p. this summer 8p came out.. they did not jump to 10p and on eBay is only 8p
-
10p? I don't think so. According to Navteq, the producer of or DVD's, 8P is the latest - U0016-0075-904 so, post up details on this "10p"

Anti Theft Deterrent Blinking Light
Lex Talionis replied to joangr's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
sorry.. but you did imagine that light blinking on the center dash. you must be thinking some other car as that is a sensor and not any sort of light or have anything to do with the deterrent system. as has been pointed out, the light for the deterrent system is on the dash cluster. -
Unlocking Nav features when moving

thanks.. but then it is of no value to me to even worry about as I do not plan to do it every time I start the car -
Back up camera 2010 Ford Edge Sport
Lex Talionis replied to SWR's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I did this on my 2008 - works perfect and I have full install and write up here - might contact them and see what they have for 2010 -
Back up camera 2010 Ford Edge Sport
Lex Talionis replied to SWR's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
FWIW, if you search around here, you will see that camera is made by Gentex. So, you 'could' get it, get a camera, and make it happen. But you might have other issues to address if you have Sync as that is where the mic is (or was in 2007-2008). BTW, doesn't the 2010 have an available camera hook up on the navi - assuming you have that of course - and all you would need is a camera then. I would rather have it on the navi head unit then the mirror. it would be 10x easier to install then, has a ready hook up, and would not have to have that bigger Gentex mirror nor the hairy install of mirror and camera. -
Unlocking Nav features when moving
Lex Talionis replied to blockisle9's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
yep... I get it now as i tried it and it works BUT, I did not find the way to "set the vehicle manufacturer (Ford / Lincoln/ Mazda / Mercury)" - I did see the "color palette" option, but not a way to do what you make it sound like should be easily done. I did not see a way to put in a manufacturer and change button designs. -
I never had issues with map bulbs. had several issue with license plat bulbs which are the SAME as the map bulbs yes, but only an issue in the license plate location.. go figure well, just recently, I had the same issue. the license plate bulb starts to flicker. I was like not again. but this time, I pulled the bulb and hooked it up to 9v battery. worked perfect, went back, flickered, back to 9v it was perfect. So, I just did some cleaning of the wire leads and pushed it back in and reseated the bulb and viola... it worked so, I might have prematurely tossed bulbs that were good, but just maybe corroded leads. so, I still had them and tested the last bad 3 and it turns out, I saved 2 and 1 actually had dead bulbs in it. so, not exactly sure what the issue is/was 100%, but now I will not be so sure to assume they are bad when they start to flicker. maybe pull, clean leads, reseat.

LED Puddle Lamps! Home Made!
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
now that I know we can just cut open the existing sealed light units - this was not know at the time I did this and only was found by another user who rolled the dice - I would not go this route. I ended up opening my sealed units and just swapping bulbs, but at the time, at like $50+ per side, I was not going to cut and be wrong about being able to access the bulb. now that we know we can access the bulb, this method is kind of useless but it proved it could be done -
I can't "identify" them, but if you look in my gallery, you might be able to see the colors as I have some speaker install photos there

Looking for yellow fogs.
Lex Talionis replied to ThinLine's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
not so fast. not on the Edge. you have to unbolt a portion of the inner plastic lining of the lower facia to get to them from the wheel well area under car, the fit is tight for hands, and the angle to release the wiring is harsh.. try more like 30 minutes. it is a real PITA to do the fogs -
Selecting a phone for SYNC
Lex Talionis replied to wtalley's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
that actually shocks me to be honest. did you try checking here for fixes or comments as they are way more into actual SYNC issues on that board than here. more general info here, more SYNC problem solving with phones and mps players there. I would post up there. -
I will add, based on what MJ5150 said, I never do single bulb LED.. I always buy multiple bulb LED. Those single bulb are pretty well known weak. My map/license plate bulbs are like 5 LED for example.

Unlocking Nav features when moving
Lex Talionis replied to blockisle9's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
having not tried it yet, so maybe it will become obvious what you mean, but what do you mean? "you have to set this feature every time you want to use the nav" sounds a bit of annoying and does it make other regular features we are use to hard to get at?? just not sure what your saying?
