Road Side Assistance Included?
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
wow.... the mean spiritedness here truly amazes me... I never would have thought so many trolls and haters on a Ford website of all places... You know.. I am really excited about getting this car. I came here to learn - and have - and try to give back what I have learned as there are others who come here and just read to get info and that can help people decide. But you are succeeding so rejoice.. I am losing interest in participating here as several of you are just so spiteful for no real reason. Too much of an elitist attitude as though some of you are better than others. Some of your posts and comments are better than others. I realize there are a few of you that want to be the big dog on here and know it all... and can't stand when someone else has (1) an opinion other than yours (2) will stand up for themselves and (3) does not look up to you like you are Gods... it's a friggen internet web board for cars man.. not a crucial forum that matters in life Just remember, reading and participating in threads is optional... but a few of you just troll and bash me for no real good reason. In the scheme of things, what's it really matter? Who cares? Why do you put such effort in trying so hard to put me in my place? Some of you look more goofy for just trying so hard to dog on me over such petty stuff. If you look back, I never start this garbage... it is a few of you haters with the harsh cuts and I just defend myself and my opinions. But you know... reasoning with some people like you is nearly impossible... so maybe I will just stay around as I know me being here burns you so much -
Road Side Assistance Included?
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
thanks.. did not know this. never owned a Ford and it seems like a good selling point and the salesman never mentioned this, nor do you see it as any sort of selling point on their literature at dealers or on web.... until you drill down into the Warranty text and that is kind of hidden in there. I guess I though having this topic might help a causal browser see a topic that they did not know and see it as an added little incentive and learn something. I sure would have had I seen it. -
Road Side Assistance Included?

for someone who acts like he has been around... guess you missed the part about me ordering one about 3 weeks ago. Now... what do you care - or any of the 'others' you elude to - and what do you guys PM each other about me? You have an Edge currently and have been a member here since March - so you and 'us' have some sort of virtual rights and seniority over another person who is newer and not an owner yet and does not know everything about the car you do? At least it seems I participate here - in this virtual world that really means nothing. If anything - GAWD get a life and stop worrying about me man. And, don't say 'Sorry if I am...." - as you are not sorry, but you wanted to be mean and you achieved it. -
I was totally unaware that the Ford Edge came with complementary road side assistance for the first 36 months or 36000 miles. At least, that is what this Ford website says: http://www.genuineservice.com/genuineservi...t?page=roadside It gives the full details and the phone number to call if you need assistance with: gas, flat tires, towing, jump start, unlocks Thats a nice bonus I have read nothing about until today, but I am sure current owners already knew this.

"dry weight" on that is 3498.. heck, not to mention the items you will stock in it as well.. no way
-
did you create a Sync Account? I 'think', but not 100% sure IIRC, there are more details in their for actual owners: quick print guides, more directions, etc. you can set up your car, put in the details of what phone and mp3 player you use, get access to new firmware Sync updates (of which there are none yet but reportedly one coming), etc.

iPod Nano (1st Gen) Problem with Sync and Fix
Lex Talionis replied to jadlow's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
HERE HERE!! much of the Sync details - for phones and music players - is very vague and gives misleading impressions as MOST Sync owners will not come to the website and check the full caveat details.. they will just read an ad, talk to an ill informed salesman, or hear things off the TV like.... "Most popular media players work with Sync!" "Most Bluetooth-enabled phones support hands-free calling through Sync!" "Even if your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone is not shown here, it may still work with Sync!" "Even if your media player is not shown, it may still work with your Sync!" yes, yes.. I understand the get-us-off-the-hook words like "Most" and "May".. but I agree the the average - and that is key here - person will hear these vague claims and never once call Ford, or come to this or any website to find out details and limitations. They walk a fine line with their advertising. -
so I have seen many mentions on the web of a few types of Ford coupons floating around to the tune of about $750 savings each. I would like one.. assuming it is (1) transferable to me and (2) legal... if you have one of these and know what I am talking about, send me a PM and lets talk.

FWIW.. someone is selling Curt hitches on eBay pretty cheap!! 109-113 (buy now price) + 34 ship. I think the other sites - like real truck - start at 140 for the hitch plus about 17 ship. so a little savings... so the eBay guy is high on ship to make up for low on price and still is about $10 cheaper in the end...

so you want a set of these http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1120 watch that want ad section and you could find the EXACT Edge wheels.. as some do not want/like them
-
what the heck you wanting to pull anyway?
-
yeah, but 'combined weight' is much different than 'max towing capacity' in that combined weight does not know if the weight is all in the vehicle or all back in the trailer - which clearly matters as it can contradict the max towing weight. for example, if you just took 8400 pounds 'combined weight' and you had an empty Edge with 1 average weight 175 pound adult, that would be Edge at curb weight of 4086 + 175 pound adult = 4261 total for the Edge leaving you 4139 in trailer weight to reach the claimed 'combined weight' of 8400, yet we know you should only pull a max trailer weight of 3500 pounds.... not 4139

in looking at my local CU's interest rates and my personal banks... no one at this moment can touch a 1.9-3.9 type range (1.9 I hope for me IF I even finance as I have solid credit reports). best I see is 5-7% from these two on just generic listings on the sites, so not sure f they even do better than posted loan rates. seems my decision will be made when my car comes and I find out exact rates and exactly what I qualify for and what current cash rebates are and then I will decide if I finance or straight buy out. as others have pointed out.. you cannot lock anything in with Ford until the day the car is sold.
-
now there is a post that actually shed some light on my confusion.... which was, I never considered financing 'somewhere else' - given the rates they offer, which are pretty unbeatable if you qualify and do short finance like I would (unless I pay cash straight out) - I only assumed in my head financing with them. so, could not understand how they put 1500 PLUS+ 500 and then caveat the 500 with 'Ford' credit or lease - because they naturally want you to use Ford credit (or lease) versus a 3r party and will extend you an extra $500 for doing so. got it. also of interest, to me, and good or bad depending on the timing of when my car comes in is that from December sometime until 1.8.08 it was $1000 cash, and then the next day on 1.9.08 they extended that and had 1000 same offer until 3/31/08, but then the very next day on 1.10.08 it changed to 1500 but they date rolled back to 1.31.08 - so, several shifts in 3 days time and the last trend shows an increase in cash back rebate on the last change, but a decrease in the time to do it... so come 2.??.08 - who knows what it might be. could be even higher rebate (given all the announcements of their financial troubles with Detroit's Auto Show going on right now) or roll back to lesser amount... argh
-
no... Maximum Towing Capacity is listed as 3500 lbs... heck, that trailer is 3498 lbs - so you could load it with 2 pounds and be good technically... as to what would happen... ruin brakes, loss of control and steering stability, over heat radiator as it is not rated higher and the fans are designed to push air for the correct trailer weight, hammer the transmission, blow the engine if the oil cooler cannot keep up, etc. etc.

something odd about the listing of incentives at the website.. when you mention $2000 cash for purchase... read what I posted on the below thread the other day as it does not seem like $2000 cash as I read it to be... it seems 1500$ and then they do mention $500 more BUT when you read the print, that is if you use Ford credit or Lease... so it is whacky... http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=13576

current official Ford Edge incentives can always be found here: http://www.fordvehicles.com/incentives/offers/ (I have seen them stay on top of updating this page... I have seen it change as much as 3 times over 3 days.. but stable now). Also, on the Ford > Edge > Build You Own Vehicle page are specific incentives to your region. For example, when I hit that page I get a banner at the top that says "SAN DIEGO COUNTY FORD DEALERS SPECIAL OFFERS" - so one would assume this would be true for your region and FWIW they line up with the above links incentives...

this link drops you to a page with 2 choices: Single Baam Model and Bi-Xenon Model - which do you use as the explanations are the same... as well, they lists sizes H1/H3/H4-1/H4-2/H7/.. blah blah blah.. which of those do you select as well? thanks. -
I can't seem to find out.. are the Ford mats a set of 4 for front and back, or just 2 for front? Also, I cannot even find a nice photo of the Ford ones... can someone post a photo of the Ford ones or point me to where they are online - a good full photo that is. As for cargo liners.. weathertech is the ONLY way to go. they last, thick, strong and awesome. I love mine in my VW and will put one in my Edge. UPDATE: see my gallery for my installed Weathertech cargo mat and OEM rubber all weather Ford Edge floor mats mentioned here

speaking of incentives.. the one thing that is odd on that page is that it is broken down into 3 headings of incentives under RETAIL OFFERS (blue tab with arrow turned down).. CASH BACK INCENTIVES CASH + APR APR ONLY but then the content under them does not really line up with those headings... for example CASH BACK INCENTIVES says 'retail customer cash' of $1500 'PLUS" 'Ford Credit Bonus Customer Cash' of $500 - yet the 'Ford Credit Bonus Customer Cash of $500' goes on to say 'if you use Ford credit or lease'.. which are both credit options so why is that $500 under CASH BACK INCENTIVES and not down under CASH + APR??? this kind of implies $2000 (1500 'PLUS+' 500) cash until you read the fine print. then, under CASH + APR it says only 'Ford Credit Bonus Customer Cash' for $500... BUT nothing about an APR.. should there not also be an APR list there also? then, under APR ONLY it lists both a cash incentive of 'Ford Credit Bonus Customer Cash' of $500 and the great APRs list with that.... but that is suppose to be APR only and not cash back incentives according to the heading.. so should it not be up under the other heading?? point is, it seems like the headings do not line up with their incentives below

I used a credit union on my first car.. right now, none of them can touch the APR's Ford is offering - if you have good credit and qualify that is. speaking of which, on the 9th of this month Ford improved their APR's by 1 point and added more cash back on cash only incentives by $500! What was 3.9% APR financing for 36 months, 4.9% APR financing for 48 months, 5.9% APR financing for 60 months, 7.9% APR financing for 72 months. is now 1.9% APR financing for 36 months, 2.9% APR financing for 48 months, 3.9% APR financing for 60 months, 5.9% APR financing for 72 months and what was 1000 cash rebate is now 1500 imagine 1.9% for 3 years PLUS they have $500 incentive on top of that!! or $1500 incentive if pay cash here is the latest: http://www.fordvehicles.com/incentives/offers/
