HID Lights
Lex Talionis replied to sonyguy19's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
did you see my Gallery? look in my signature. a pict if the ballast installed and of the kit. I have no photos of the actual color of the lights at night as there are like 10,000 on the web trying to show HID at night and they are hard to grab correct and do the lights justice. -
Sync Version Verification

Check this out..... Despite the system telling me at step 3 that it did not download the update to my USB (even though I can see it on the USB) I decided to stick it in the Edge anyway... when I did and followed the "Install" process, the Edge reported the install was a success. I then came in and on a whim, logged back into Syncmyride.com and put my USB in the port and started all over again to see what would happen. Well, when I was in Step 1 and telling it where my USB drive is and which one to use to download to.. it went to a new screen - jumped to Step 4 right over Step 3 - that said something like "we see you have an install already and have files ready to upload, do you want to".. I selected "yes" and then got an upload status bar, watched it upload, but then like the others here I got a message that it failed to upload successfully even though it ran the whole 100% progress bar. Now, in my Installation History are like 15 listings of this checker & some other stuff I did not do - BUT it shows some as CI some as CU and some as RFI.... for example, it shows 5.5.7226_sp0 (that Lincoln only update) as CI???? and shows some of the Checker as CU but mostly RFI... all I can say is WTF??? CI - confirmed install CU - confirmed uninstall RFI - requested for install) -
those fake, feaux HID bulbs painted blue and bought at like Pep Boys? I have heard bad things about them if that is what you are referring to. There are several great HID threads going here - search and you can find them - and some vendors selling affordable kits, you might consider the real thing given what you really get versus with the feaux ones.

thanks man... wow, feel all tingly inside with a public positive comment (beats bickering any day) - see, I am not so bad. I know that when I take on something.. like this new kickin Ford Edge - I take it on 100% and learn it and live it. I go from joe to pro in like a month - but that is my nature (helped by a dose of OCD so that keeps me hyper-focused on finding answers, getting facts, researching and learning). thanks to this boards info, and it spurring me on to find details on topics it raises, I know 100x more now than I did 6 weeks ago when I ordered. As much as I take from here, I try to give back and all the folks that have PM'd me know that. so thanks. Anyway... why don't you post some photos of your new ride & some specs :car:

Sync Version Verification

it seems paulmon is the only one reporting success in downloading and allow to go to step 4 - but then says it failed at that stage despite acting like it uploading. I would like to just get past stage 3. I sent an email to the tech people, will see what they say. If I was able to get to Step 3 and activate the applet and have it do it's download - so it showed - despite saying it was not a success when I do in fact have files on the USB - than I would say that is some proof the browser is not likely the issue (but programming maybe?) as it is also a supported browser and platform: mac with Safari. NOTE: same result today... downloads - but claims didn't and stops me at step 3 <_< more than wanting to do this to give them data I want to do this to learn the process and work out any bugs so that I can successfully download the stuff that really matters in the coming future.. but at this rate.. no love -

well.. I tried to download this "Checker" - at step 3 it starts to download, I see the progress bar, and then it says "We werenāt able to download the following files: Sync Status Checker 1.0" BUT, when I look on the USB drive it is there!! No reason to try it in the Edge as I cannot even come back in and confirm at step 4 as I cannot pass Step 3 and I understand it that you need to do it all together while logged in in a session. Tried it on mac and pc and 3 browsers on each and with all of their requirements in place: supported browser, USB plugged in and not removed during download, JS turned on... no dice. half the time, the Java Applet in step 3 would not even load to begin with. but when it did, just stops after step 3. jeezz... I am trying to let them collect personal data from me.... and they won't take it -
I got 'em and installed them. see my gallery for a photo of them installed and the mod I did to them to make them fit. After fussing with them for to long, I decided to cut them as these are a generic fit for like 5 of their cars. So, by cutting off about 2-3 inches from the inside portion (not seen anyway from bottom, or sides - only if you look into the actual wheel well) it made it easier to work around the inner rib that is in the way and that the splash guards want to rise up over when trying to bolt down. See my gallery for the image of the cut I did. also, when you see them, the view facing out has like a rough pattern surface that follows the exact curve of the body and then outside of that curve it is all smooth - which is what you actually see when installed. that is the perfect guide for where/how to place them as line that up with the body panel. also, I did not bolt into the body metal, I made my own strategic holes and blew off their pattern and they are very solid. PLUS, I used some black RTV (like silicon) all around the exposed edges on the inside to keep grit/grime out from seeping behind them and to adhere them even more to that plastic wheel well liner I bolted into.

Installed mine yesterday. It was a solid 1.5 hours (contrary to some sites saying 45 minutes) having never done it but pretty mechanically inclined & a bitchen set of tools. a real knuckle buster. taking the muffler down was the real - tip: use WD40 on the rubber muffler mounts to slick it up to slide them out as you have 3 to remove and drop the muffler. also, be prepared to drill into your frame rail twice for the 3rd bolt (have a nice sharp 1/2 bit). also, have sheet metal shears to cut the heat shields.

HID Lights
Lex Talionis replied to sonyguy19's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
yes, but 55w will increase the intensity so it does add to the brightness... ask Todd, he will explain it.. but that is why 55w is labeled "high-output" a quote from a guy on another board: "I didn't realize how much more brighter the 55w was until i swapped back to 35w" for me, I was fine with the 35w as no matter what, we gain 3x the light output. When we talked about it, I was like "so as if going to HID was not enough, people getting 55w want even more brightness?" and he said "yeah, essentially". when you see 35w, you will be pretty stunned. -
