  1. wow... you see it in movies, but never in real life. crazy and ballsey yeah, wheel locks are key. I use the kind with the odd recessed squiggly pattern on the nut head versus the kind with the nut type hex surface deep down at the bolts end as I know those can have a standard socket hammered on to them for a one time removal and toss. I believe the kind I mention are about $20-25 at Pep Boys and hard to defeat But, anything is defeatable in the end.. it is a matter of making them want to move on to a different car because yours has one line of defense that makes it not worth the time/risk. look at it this way.. it is a nice way to get out of those bogus plastic clad wheels and the perfect time to upgrade to all aluminums
  2. FWIW.... there is a guy on eBay who sells fogs light sets for those that do not have them and want them. So, I know that is not what you want, but I am more making the point that putting in fogs (associated relays, harness, wiring, switches, etc) for OEM or after-market, is totally doable. they can do this and should do this for you. I would hold them to it.
  3. don't you mean K&N? try the hood struts next.. would love for someone else to be the guinea pig first on something
  4. have you actually seen the flat ones installed yet on an Edge versus in the plastic bag or online? they are not so bad looking. my Gallery has a few photos of them and there are a few others on here with them. might want to check them out as they do not look so bad in my opinion when installed.
  5. nice.. blue tint for sure on the 6k. I assume the install was easy as pie... damn... looking at these 2 photos... glad I live in SoCal and left the midwest. It was short and t-shrt all this weekend and last night ended with a sunset beach walk
  6. I was also told 6 months free.. I have 3 Sirius subscriptions/accounts already as I am a big fan. Rather than call them and get it added the day I bought the car and see how they planned on mange the 6 months free, I will just wait until 'it' (however long that will be) dies and then call them and add it to my account. I read in the manual that it will alert you and give you a phone number to call so I just figured that if I was on the road, I would call and have it activated and added to my account - if I am home, I will just do it on the web. Until that day, i am going to let it ride and see how long it goes. BTW, if it is like it has been in the past, it is 'mo cheaper to just pay a year in advance & cheaper to add it on the internets on your own rather than call them (like $10 different at one time). Also..they are not desperate XM (yet), so they are not negotiating prices to keep subscribers
  7. I did mine a bit different with great success... I marked the bumper (center and each left/right end) using blue painters tape so I could peel off. I put the glue - of which it seemed was a little sparse in retrospect, I thought there would be more from each tube - on the actual sticky tape versus the bumper so it was only in contact with the exact area it would be glued to. I mounted mine left to right not front to back. That is, I cut the tape down the center and peeled off the left side and placed it and then pulled off the right side and laid it down. I found that the curve on the saver is not a 100% match to the curve of the bumper if you just laid it out and eve-balled it, so it was nice to put down one side and then kind of pull in the other side to get the perfect matching curve. either way, they are an awesome product.
  8. they are awesome kits and look stellar... I would agree 100%. enjoy! what temp bulbs did you get and what watt ballasts?
  9. hey NP.. long time no talk.. anyway.. I would take a photos for you guys.. but not really worth it as all you would see is screen. really nothing to see as it is so transparent and no bubbles. BUT, I can tell you, it is not as finger print resistant as they claim. I kind of was wondering what material would be able to live up to that portion of the claim 100%, but I figured I would try it as there are certainly added benefits to this protection even if 100% finger print blocking is not one - and I think over time if will prove valuable. so, I DO feel it certainly blocks prints better than straight screen touching, but yeah, depending on what I am into, you can still see some vague prints.
  10. not that it matters now, but for future readers, you can buy a spare OEM Ford key fob off eBay cheap....35-45$, pay to get it cut (cheap at Home Depot) and then have the dealer program them for you since you need at least 2 keys to program any other if you want to do it on your own. A lot cheaper this way. I did this when I bought my car - they actually cut if for me for free as I walked in with the blank key fob the day I purchased - just to be safe and IF you have/had 2 keys, you can/could program the others yourself at home like I did.
  11. Interesting note. For my own edification and clarification, though we do not use the same manufacturer & I do not run a relay nor capacitor on my 35w kit, are you using a 55w or 35w kit? I can't seem to find this detail if you mentioned it elsewhere.
  12. got it today. pretty nice and NO bubbles! always one of my concerns, even when they say "no bubbles" on these types of screen protectors. real easy to install: credit card and the product and push it on. nice little piece of protection.
  13. Rear Speaker Install 100% possible. Same steps as above for door and speaker install, only real difference is where to mount the cross-over (which I zip tie hooked to the window motor which also recessed it back out of the way and put a little bit of foam sponge behind it to keep it from vibrating back against the plastic inner door molding). Did nice clean install with zip tie wires, heat shrink wrap and pow.. easy as pie. These rear speakers are tilted slightly at a laid back angle, so I twisted the tweeter to be in a position I thought best. as for sound... wow, having only the fronts in made me see plain as day how poor the OEM speakers are for my desires. It was like a dead spot behind my head with only the fronts in. the rears completes the sound I was looking for. I need to tweak fade/bass/trebel a bit, but it sounds 100% different to me. not sure what else to tell ya. I think the big things accomplished here were (1) verifiable proof that rears were possible to install (2) a true all around upgraded speaker choice can be had - for front and rear - and this is one option and (3) proof that it makes a big difference. I was looking at the OEM speakers (they are like 8 pound bricks) and they say just 25w on them versus 100w max on these. I posted up images of a rear install - they should address any visual questions. Enjoy.
  14. (add disclaimers, risks and caveats here about what damage you could do or warranties you could void by installing speakers) Based on all the research I did, I got it down to some JL Audio and the Infinity Kappa 682.7cf - and based on the overwhelming positive feedback on the Infinity Kappa model I read elsewhere I decide to do them all around. Seem to be a very well rated and highly thought of upgrade speaker that fits the Edge, but not hella expensive. Installed first set today in front doors. (Rear doors set was sadly delayed for a couple days in delivery.) Crutchfield claims they do not fit back doors, but I have it on good authority from another member here they in fact do. I suspect that Crutchfiled says 'not compatible' as you need extra room for the remote cross-over and the depth in the door is sooo close to the speaker depth, they just say no dice to be safe. But I am sure I can tackle it and get creative. I will find out in 2 days, but I trust the member here is correct as he seems to be the only other one to have actually installed these all around on the Edge like I am. Install was easy. 1-1.25 hours from start for both front doors. 6 philips heads screws around perimeter, 1 star head bolt behind hidden circle flap at lever, 1 raised hex head bolt under rubber cover in door handle (not sure why 3 types fasteners used). Door panel pulls up and away and then angle out to get around lever. piece of cake. Then, just removed the electrical quick releases for stuff like door locks, windows, mirrors, etc. Throw door on the lawn. 4 same size star nuts as the 1 above hold the speakers. Pull those and then clipped the connection harness female head off the harness at the door wiring with enough wire to strip and prep. Attach 4 cross over wires prior to mounting in door. Put in new infinity Kappa 682.7cf and bolt down (fit perfect and lined up to holes perfect) using the little top notch for the wires routing that come from behind just like the factory did. These speakers have external cross-overs, so I zip tied to a wire bundle. Wired them up and used shrink wrap wire housing for clean install and mating to factory wires as I do not plan to remove them. TIP: These - as they are 2-way speakers - have rotating center tweeters built in, so I twisted them to point up at the seats as they mount so low and mounted so that the twist would be towards +3 setting. Pay attention to how you install speakers as those tweeters rotate 270 degrees so make sure when you rotate, it is in the direction you wish( + 0 - ). BTW, I have the Edge 9 speaker Audiophile sound system with the sub in the rear and the 190 wat amp. I may twist the rear doors speakers in a different angle then up, will wait and see when I mount them. So, though it is hard to report with just testing in my car and I have not tested everything like CD, iPod, Sirius, I can only initially report it is a big noticeable difference. I am into treble rather than bass, crisp highs and always felt from day 1 the stock speakers were very muffled and I felt like I was listening behind a wall. So, initial impressions, with just fronts on and testing to make sure all was installed correct is very favorable and clean sound I like. I am no expert, and only recently learned that what I like is termed "highs", nor a true hardcore audiophile, but know the sound and style I like and these seem to have hit the mark. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind if time proves different. But for now, I am :yup: I will report about rear install in a few days when I get them. I posted a few photos in my gallery for now of inner door panel and a speaker installed and the cross-over location. will post rears as well. Enjoy.
  15. From the album: Lex's SoCal Limited: white sand tri coat + black guts

notice the silver cross-over there behind the Ford sticker and zip tied to the wire bundle.
  16. From the album: Lex's SoCal Limited: white sand tri coat + black guts

here you can see the stock, flat, boring, brick OEM speakers still in their slot.
  17. there is a cat on eBay I have seen that sells an after-market fog light setup for the Edge if you cannot do OEMs you want. Look for "Bling Lights" (blinglightshid)
  18. Decided to give one a try. My hands are always funky from working on bikes, beach sand, ocean salt, sweet from running..eBayed this week a similar one like above, but a different vendor as their description was a bit more complete and had some keywords I was looking for in a screen protector.. but in the end, I bet it will be the same thing. will report back how it works.
  19. I have not. Instead, I took on some other projects: hitch, HIDs, tint, bumper saver, researching backup camera, about to do speakers all around this coming week. just priorities, you know.. it's on the list..
  20. Guys.. I have noticed on the Easy Out feature that if your seats are set back far enough already, it does not do the easy out trick as there must be some threshold that it knows/senses on the track that it is back pretty far already. I have tested that function before as I thought the same thing that it never did Easy Out for me, but when I moved the seat up much farther, it would do it every time. When I set it back to my normal position - I guess back far enough - it does not do it.
  21. Wow - you are even more twisted than I thought. I am stunned you would do this bbf2530. Truly. For the record, I do not regret or am embarrassed by my private PM to you, nor did I ever say sorry or apologize for anything like you keep saying I did. And, I was being "a man" - I took it to you offline. I did not take it off line to have the last word, I took it off line to save every one else the headache we were going down that you now drew them into. You say I want to have the last word, then look what you do while I try to PM behind the scenes so we could hash it out man to man. You said "To "sonyguy" and the other helpful members here, I am truly sorry we had to get off subject. " - but yet you do this? Why would you even do this? What is your motivation - you want to publicly hurt someone - me - this much? We may think each other kooky, but this is pretty sick to go and do in public and a whole big step above public banter I tried to take offline. I think you taking something like this and posting it live just to try to do your best to belittle me, hurt me, ridicule me, embarrass me, and make me a laughing stock says a lot about you. And you know, it bums me out - bums me out that a person would do this. Again, not that I have a problem letting people see my feelings, but from a guy that claims to be so upstanding and act so civil and above adolescent antics like mine, I would not have ever done something like this to someone. But, as I called it in the opening sentence, I knew it was a risk to take with you, just did not fully think you would do it.
