okay... now the one that is killing me is that horrible string of Subway "$5 foot long" commercials. insulting.. do they really think they are funny? everything from the song, to the graphics, to the concept and through to execution is pathetic. I am now not eating at Subway just because of these commercials.

so.. if one did front and rear turn LEDs you would have to wire resistors for both sets of LEDs - 4 resistors - if the speedy click is irritating. (2 if you only did rear.) so in the end, why not just replace 1 relay flasher instead under the dash with an electronic LED capable flasher and cover them all in 1 shot with no rewire, but rather simple plug and play?

Cold ram air for the Edge
Lex Talionis replied to Stumpalump's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
2 guys here have done muffler tweaks.. one did a Gibson and the other did a Flowmaster (he even posted a sound clip in this mods section of the forum)... there is a good chance, as more people do them, I will make a selection based on others feedback. Muffler is something on my mind for sure. seems like you might be a guy you would take to the computer tunes you can dial in and upload to your car people are selling and talking about here in this section of the forum. anyway, if you want to get technical on why I personally snickered about the dryer ducting is, besides the fact it is dryer ducting.. (1) how well would it actually stand up to level of air input - as we all know, dryers do not put out that kind of force of air (2) though it is somewhat firm with the ridges, will it crimp or bend or fold or distort with that kind of pressure flowing through (3) does having the ridges every inch or so in that ducting create turbulence in the tubing at that volume that it would not actually flow freely, instead creating eddies and turbulence currents in the actual ducting, as it seems most true after-market cold air rams use a smoother tubing, and often they are metal. -
hmm.. certainly does not sound right and might want to hit the dealer. if it is truly random, and not when the nav system is speaking to you and just like POW cut out sound, I would say it is an issue the only time mine fades in/out is when the nav system is speaking directions to me it fades down the sound and moves it to the back. same with phone call coming in or in use, sound of radio or music or whatever was playing gets muted. other than that, no sound cut out.

FWIW, I got a GREAT stubby antenna (you can search here on the forums for the full details if you wish) from these guys at Mango Walk - they have all kinds of antennas of all kinds of sizes and styles.. might chek them out. My stubby was no signal loss for me.. but I live in an area with lots of and strong signals..

Cold ram air for the Edge
Lex Talionis replied to Stumpalump's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
didn't need a lesson. never said I didn't understand. reread my post. I was implying, much like capnkirk52, that using home dryer ducting is pretty funny. and as for the 500 posts, maybe before you start spouting off about some bling comments, you need to go search around and see what I have done personally for modifications (and supplied in detail here for others to follow) a heck of a lot more than most.... HID lighting installs (yes, under the hood), LEDs all around, custom made one of a kind LED puddle bulbs, hitch, modified mud flaps, speakers all around, .. and the list goes on.. but even easier, just click my gallery and look at photos.. might be easier for you -
Cold ram air for the Edge
Lex Talionis replied to Stumpalump's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
yeah.. I am the first to want to try to make stuff and see if I can get it working.. but this one seems a bit of a stretch.. especially in such a crucial performance specific area. I almost thought this was a late Aprils Fools joke -
it is rare.. but we will agree on this one I decided, after the following event, to let the numerous 'small' but findable imperfections slide... I am not happy with them, but 1-b-1 they are minor while collectively they are bogus and not acceptable. I suspect to the average person, they will never see these imperfections I see as I baby a new car and wash every square inch of it, which I have noted elsewhere, in the paint. Essentially, I find the paint job one of the worst I have ever seen. no doubt. Anyway.. here is why I decided to live with it.. When I took delivery, my front bumper had a good size nick UNDER the paint and on lip edge of the hood literally had no paint in one 1/2 inch area, just exposed metal! clearly, it was dinged at factory prior to painting and the hood.. well, who knows how that happened - robots just missed it or something. So, we agreed they would fix. I took it in for the fix and it all went south from there. bad and quick. first, I have a tricky 4 stage paint - the White Tri Coat. So, that is very hard to match versus a flat color like the red, black, gray, etc. And when they masked off the hood to paint and blend that lip, the over spary left a line right where the tape was.. so I had a tape line at certain angles in the sun. Plain as day. And, on the bumper, they miss matched and painted it Creme Brulee looking AND added other little damage - looks like they dragged the bumper across the ground and ground up the edge - where there were none before. And, if all that is not bad enough.. they scratched the paint in the door sill getting in and out of the car.. It turned into the biggest farce. The dealer is just not setup to do competent high quality body work and painting matching. I was stunned.. and pissed anyway.. in the end.. they got me a brand new bumper from factory and had it sent out to a high end local paint shop. plus the shop had to fix the door sill the dealer scratched AND they had to put on a brand new hood off a new Tri Coat on the lot - just to make sure the paint matched versus painting my whole hood. So.. 8 days later, thousands of extra dollars on their shoulders, a bunch of stress on mine.. I decided these little minor paint over-sprays, dirt, blemishes, etc.. I could live with as the cure was worse than the ailment and I was not willing to do it all again. so keep this in mind

funny.. I notice the only reflection issue I have is front the silver trim around the air vents. They reflect off my front windows, and it is super noticeable now since they are tinted (versus the first few days of ownership). Other than that, and I live in SoCal with sun sun sun and more sun, I have no reflection issues that stand out. But that one with the vent trim is super noticeable.

I have to admit, as much as I love this car, it has the worst paint I have seen - and I paid extra for the White Tri Sand color. I can point out DOZENS of pits, dirt under paint, thin paint spots, misc odd paint contaminations bumps/lumps, over-spray, and more. That is the 1 aspect I would give them a 1 out of 5 on. The interior is awesome though. But the exterior is really not acceptable. But you know how it goes CopperEdge.. about the time you say "I have no issues" is about the time starts going south

another from SoCal.. nice. Enjoy, I know the feeling

it just may not be convenient at the moment to just pull over and fill up... not that simple always

hey thanks.. did not know that just curious.. how 'temporary' is temporary, anyone knpw? 5 minutes, an hour, a full day? I find the one bummer about that fuel warning is that it does then not release the info center so I cannot see other data still useful. I can see the value of the warning, but not to leave it there constantly and block out viewing other data.

Factory Navigations System Problems.
Lex Talionis replied to jvanloan's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I wouldn't say 'junk' as much as it is a pretty well known on these forums and documented fact that, according to comparisons with other cars, this nav system is pretty low on POI's... frankly for me, I never use POIs so do not care to much at this stage.. having accurate roads in my nav and all of the roads in my area and when I travel is way more important to me -
no.. wheels not needed to removed. just angle them out to get better access. I would never pay the dealer to do this.. not that hard. 1 banana job. drilling holes in the inner wheel well is not that sketchy. see that I made a strategic cut in those flaps and that made it SO much easier to install as they are generically sized and there is a rib/seam in the wheel well they run up against if you do not cut them.

LED Puddle Lamps! Home Made!
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
yeah.. but do you have something PRE made that would work in this application? Lots of places to get LEB bulbs. The bulb on the right might work as it has the 2 + - poles so you could tie into those, but still needs modification (create AND attach a home made lens). So.. how about I send you one of the OEM puddle lamps and you look into reverse engineering and making me 2 of the EXACT puddle lamps BUT with LED in them as a prototypes. If they work, you can start to manufacturer them and sell them. -
ahh I see what you ask.. since jpeckinp did not use a resistor, I guess I assumed that he did not have that speedy turn signal problem you mention, but in retrospect he does not say that so maybe he does and just likes it/lives with it. anyway.. of all the stuff I did do - every bulb inside the car, puddles and license plate, I opted to not do markers/turn. Those are less noticeable as dingy yellow - so I did not do them whereas the other bulbs are so badly blindingly dingy yellow. It is kind of on my tentative list to maybe do them at some point, but I blew them off. If you find a resistor or fix, post it up.

bad cable, bad connection, bad port or bad tie into the electronic down the line past the port you cannot see could all be options I would try reconnect and then different cable.. if not, dealer time

did you see post #18.. list of exact bulbs there and the website.. no instructions though.. the manual as some for the key bulbs.. they are all pretty easy to figure out though where/how

Automatic Climate Control Operation
Lex Talionis replied to bluesky636's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
mine seems to work correct got in car and I have it set to Auto all the time I set the temp to 60 as I was hot.. AC comes on and away I go with the push of no other button Then, I get chilly so I set the temp to 70 and the AC shuts down so once I set the temp I want and have it set to Auto.. it seems to come on and go off as needed -
