I feel ya... I guess, to me, it makes total sense that they cannot fit shots all of their car line into a commercial that will have the new EB engine, but does not make sense to me to have cars in their line that will not have the EB and yet put them in a very specific EB commercial, not just a generic Ford commercial.

my bad then... but have I not seen a commercial that has that guy talking about how he use to love to work on his moms car and race cars (and shows an old school 50's photo of him sitting on a car hood) and then he goes on to say something like "but I always liked working on them more"... and it turns into an EcoBoost commercial, shows him driving an Edge, EcoBoost data and imagery and then he says something like "if you could put a v6 in and make it perform better than a v8, wouldn't you want that" and then the print mentions something like "coming in 2009 on select 2010 models"??? I am almost positive the whole commerical is EcoBoost and he is driving an Edge and it mentions 2010. or am I smoking crack? I seem to recall that commercial stands out in my head as I kind of remember saying 2 myself (1) why are they talking about a 2010 release in 2008 and (2) great, I could have gotten an Edge with that engine.. so, it seemed a logical jump for me to see EcoBoost an Edge and put that together. http://www.fordvehicles.com/forddriveone/ - there is an EcoBoost commercial, page 3, not the one I speak of mind you, but it shows the Edge 2 times in the commercial. yeah, yeah I know "but Lex, there is a disclaimer that says 'coming in 2009 on select 2010 models'".. but then I would ask "Ford puts out a dozen cars, why put one on the commercial that would not be relative to the announced product?"

didn't you answer your own question about "when" by mentioning 2010? which is also what the fine print on the EcoBoost Ford commercial says

rims I would buy done in the style/color you wish of course (those blue ones look like on that Edge I think, and they did not even trick out a Limited for heavens sake)... matt black rocks no doubt & would have been the ideal choice for the matching grill work. yes, you could easily paint that grill yourself & yes with store bought rattle can paint. could you do it as pro as a pro could and streak/run free.. not likely. but it is simply a matter of - as it is just basic plastic - of removing grill, scuffing the area to be painted with light sand paper, clean down debris, taping off the logo (tough to do a good tape job on a circle/oval), prime, paint, reinstall. I have done this exact thing - matt black as well - to a bezel (kind of like the grill) on an original 1974 FJ40 and it turned out awesome. in lieu of this, I would not see the need for a specialized shop in any way to do this. this could be done by any body shop no doubt - simple process. if you do not want to paint, make it easy and just take them the grills. and, no powder coating for plastic.

Anyone running IE 6 and IE 7 browsers on same computer?
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Lounge
yeah, I use FF (and Opera, Safari, IE, Navigator, Mozilla, all as well).. but for certain browser testing I do, as the population is split right now for users using older IE 6 and newer IE 7, I want to run them both which MS made nearly impossible. But, there are methods to make it happen... but they date back to 2006-2007 and are pretty hacked in methodology and leave certain IE 7 features stripped out.. so wondered if there was a newer method easier to deploy and keep IE 7 features in tact. as for FF 3 just released... I will wait as I need to stick with the browser used by most and, at this time, that is not FF 3. -
as tittle says.. looking for best current method to run both browsers on 1 PC so I can do some browser testing... anyone doing it and have a current solution better than the klunky ones seen from 2006 and 2007?

Performance Tuner's for the Edge - who has one ?
Lex Talionis replied to kdd01's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
try this :D 5 pages of tuner bliss -
you can disable them from your Info Center.. not only that, if you 'notice' your dash display where the info is displayed you can do a quick short term shut off for those exact situations or the full time shut off via your settings in the Info Center

holly cow... nearly 200 channels of news, sports, music, talk, general entertainment... is not enough of a variety??? of course not much variety on each channel... but each channel is a specific genre.. that is the whole point.. so you jump channels to get that variety.. heck, even terrestrial radio is that way... soft rock channel is soft rock, hard is hard, classical is classical... so how is there any less variety on a Sirius station than a terrestrial station??? I have heard all kinds of reasons.. variety not being one... heck, there is even a channel just for gay & lesbian folks... does terrestrial offer that type of variety?

Hidden hitch Install
Lex Talionis replied to jsun3701's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I don't know if anyone can say for sure really. I am sure Ford could make a case if they wanted, but I would be surprised if they did or even noticed it UNLESS you had some sort of claim in the same vicinity and relative to a structural issue with a frame rail. point is, I would not worry, and did not, about this. Heck, if you wanted, get the hitch, bolt it on, do not drill the holes, and at the end of the "warranty" - drill it up. kind of a PITA, but that way, you only use the existing holes if your that concerned. or have it welded on like theirs no holes then -

it hangs below... my Gallery, and that thread above, have some photos of how it looks (which is great). Frankly, I personally think it looks WAY better than the baby Class I ones that come stock and have the cutout in the bumpers.. -
Hidden hitch Install
Lex Talionis replied to jsun3701's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
well.. the ford one is welded on.. and the after market ones - Curt, Hidden, etc - use the holes in place - 2 per side. IIRC, the Hidden brand just uses those 2 avalable holes while the Curt has 3 attachment points per side so if you want to use the Curt you must - or must not if you decide not to - drill 2 more holes, 1 per side. So, they both use existing holes and Curt goes the extra mile with a 3rd hole per side. Technically, you could bypass drilling the 2 extra holes and still use the proven Curt.. or not and drill or just get the Hidden that might only have the 2 holes per side. best thread on this topic -
Anyone remove roof rails? What is underneath?
Lex Talionis replied to chadgt's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
first idea would be to look at the mounting points.. are there little panels on the rails at the juncture with the roof? if so, pop those open and see if there are like hex head bolts. If no panels, look at the roof right next to the mounting point.. are there little doors/panels to pop open as the access to bolts may be on the roof and not on the rails. if neither of these allows access to bolts -- I have seen setups like this on my old VW and my chicks car and several others -- than unfortunately it seems that only leaves through the inside of the car under the roof liner. I would be VERY surprised if that were the access point.. but it could be. -
Despite it being a few days before the rumored official release date of Friday the 13th, I got my hands on a Verizon Treo Centro tonight and I am happy to inform ya, except for Text Messaging, it works awesome!! As some of you know, I have struggled with a Verizon Treo 650 that did not really work: no phonebook download, no call history, no speed dials, had to use phone to place and end all calls, no ringer selection, etc... well NO LONGER! All of those items work. It also displays the battery power and signal strength in the nav display, as I know some phones do not, but this one does. nice litle visual bonus

Trailer package (electrical question)
Lex Talionis replied to bob76's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
the bigger issue, besides cost (which I do not think is that expensive), is that a t-cooler and oil cooler is that they mount in a similar place and take advantage of air moving into the radiator to cool their respective parts.. so if the t-cooler is there now, is the factory oil cooler unit integrated in some way, i.e., stacked on top of that factory t-cooler, or what & where would an after-market even go? so I would also be curious just to see photos of the true oil cooler, radiator and battery from an Edge with a tow package. -
Trailer package (electrical question)
Lex Talionis replied to bob76's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
you hit upon it.. now that I think more about this and paid better attention, yeah we have - we all have I bet - a "transmission cooler" and not an "engine oil cooler". the first post got my brain locked into the Tow Package coming with a "t-cooler", but in fact, it comes with an "oil cooler". -
Trailer package (electrical question)
Lex Talionis replied to bob76's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
well, I think that is fairly obvious.. but it does not answer the question as to having the t-cooler, or what looks damn near just like the one in the documentation, but yet not having ordered the official Tow Package. if that is there, he was just wondering what else might be there as it seems that should not be, or do we all have it and in fact, they just add the larger battery, hitch, wiring, fan at order time. until others post up whether they have no official Tow Package, but yet what looks to be the t-cooler, this is still an interesting mystery -
Trailer package (electrical question)
Lex Talionis replied to bob76's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Interesting question this poses.. I will be curious what others report after I report what I see.. because after reading your post and checking that link, I also have that t-cooler in place! plain as day, looking through the lower black molded plastic grill, I can see the t-cooler (as well as all the tubing seen in that pdf document). So, I am not sure if in fact, it is put there on all Edges or did we get 'lucky' in some way? Though it is a modular piece and they can slap it on, or leave off, in the build process and plumb it into the cooling system if you order the Tow Package, it is odd that we both have that and yet, do not have a tow package - at least, not the hitch. Do others see it who do not have the Tow Package? now, besides the t-cooler, there were suppose to be a bigger cooling fan and larger battery IIRC. I wonder if you can in some way verify those as on first blush, this is kind of an interesting find. -
it is kind of fun to just see what it says if for no other reason. I used it many months ago, while waiting for it to arrive from the factory after my order, just to see if the vin was live and active and that was when I saw that my Edge was listed as "Truck/SUV " and my Limited was listed as a "SEL Plus"

Google... I think about 150-160 per set when I was looking at them.

I'd upgrade then.. if you skipped 6p, it seems reasonable to jump on 7p as I see it. or... I can buy 7p and sell you 6p discounted UPDATE: my 6p is now for sale in classified section

so what... 1 month later and, as I claimed, already 7P on eBay for a savings - can't get much quicker than that & cheaper than Navteq direct
