  1. Some people seem to think it is infinitely more dangerous than all the other things you do in the car while driving, and have been doing for years. Often, those people also seem to think that the only person who would use this ability would be the driver, often over looking a very capable passenger.
  2. If you do not get the answer you want here, are you familiar with Blue Oval Forums? If not, you might try there given they track deliveries there and have actual Ford employees there. Just an FYI.
  3. don't hold me to this for sure.. but I thought when you hit that "time to destination" button below the scale arrows it showed ETA and location details? or is it just ETA?
  4. on the contrary... I love mine. I think if you follow this thread, you will see many people happy with theirs, it is no until this latest last batch that things went afoul for a few people. anyway, there is also another not Ford model sold on eBay FWIW.
  5. well... column 1 is obviously the media item.. and the "+" sign indicates that it is said in conjunction with something from the other 3 columns but the other 3 columns do not need another column command (other than column 1) to make it function that command. that make sense? it is essentially column 1 + any other columns command for that media device row. eek.. makes it sound harder than it is
  6. I can live with that.. you can take the credit.. she will think your the man BTW, if errors are found I am wiling to edit the file... there may be other commands I omitted and that was because I felt these were the key ones
  7. Direct from them to me... Bird droppings are corrosive so you need to neutralize the surface pH. The product that you would use for this is #118 pH Neutralizing Car Wash. As for any stain that might be left behind we would recommend #215 AIO to restore the finish. Droppings left of a surface for a prolonged period of time can cause the clear coat to break down. #2180 and #1000P are your two best defenses against acid compounds damaging your finishes.
  8. So, a bit back I made this little condensed cheat sheet with the key voice commands I found most used and useful as there is/was no way I could remember them all when first starting out as there are so many across each media item. I color coded, highlighted, organized it such that I think it is pretty easy to see at a quick glance and I have it laminated and velcroed on my fold down visor so I can flip it down real quick and prompt my self if I forget a command. I was thinking maybe others would find it useful & have been meaning to add it here. Enjoy if so...
  9. I would love to have this info as well if it is possible. I would mod it in a heart beat if I could disable that feature and open the nav to use while driving.
  10. I saw that.. but that was what I was saying in #6 that in that consumer section, which is what we are, after explaining that whole "kit" on the above link, the consumer section just shows (Step 1 of the Paint Decontamination System) and (Step 3 of the Paint Decontamination System), but not Step 2, 4. Plus the Step 1 and Step 3 they do show are totally different bottles/graphics than the clear, yellow, green, white of the 1,2,3,4 System they show on that above link... you have to piece it together and match the bottles with the other page and blah blah...
  11. hmm.. under "Professional" but not under "Consumer" products? that makes sense... kinda... not... I am no pro, but I am a consumer and I want the same product as the pro.. they make it hard to buy and figure out..
  12. I am pretty anal about my car as well (well, I am always that way for about the first 6 months) so I am very aware of what happens and what does not and when and blah blah. there is certainly something up with the clear coat at least between bumper plastic and car body metal. no doubt in my mind. I need to get some decontamination product for sure. that website above not only sucks, but you cannot even buy a "system" of products they show in a kit, and when you go to their consumer store, they sell like product 1 and 3, but not 2 and 4??? I might see what I can but local.
  13. you know.. I am not so sure about the theory it has nothing to do with the plastic bumper material - or at least the clear coat over the plastic which we all know are sprayed separate and in a different location than the body. you see, in my thread on this exact topic just days ago, what I was told made sense. BUT, since then, I have had it happen 3 more times - so my opinion has changed. All of them sitting well less than 24 hours, like the first time and all of them happening on both metal with clear coat and plastic with clear coat. On the metal, the exact same "stuff" (bird poo, yellowish maybe from hummingbird) comes off no problem. easy. clean. But, for an absolute fact, the exact same stuff does not come off of the bumper. I can document it. So, if it is not the plastic of the bumper, it is the clear coat. there is no reason it wipes off the metal and not the plastic, both with clear coat. how can you explain that? it is a fact as I am seeing it with my own eyes and cleaned both places the same way of the same stuff with totally different results. same stuff leaves ethcing in plastic bumper, wipes off the metal body, was there the same amount of time. I washed my car 100% yesterday at 6 pm. nothing on it at noon. Now, at 6pm, there are 3 spots... 2 on metal and 1 on plastic bumper. Metal came right off easy... bumper is "etched" in. In just 6 hours or so time. this makes the 3rd stain. so.. inferior clear coat on plastic bumpers??? must be
  14. isn't this a total contradiction? at first you say if the feature is enabeled, ALL doors will unlock IF you open the drivers door first and then later you say manually opening a front door has no affect on other doors? anyway... the manual is confusing on this and I am no sure if my car is working correct. The manual clearly says that both autounlock and autolock can be turned on/off independant of each other. BUT, in my car, turning on 1 effects the other. that is, if I turn on autolock it will turn off autounlock and vice versa.. I cannot have them both turned on - does this seem like a flaw in my car or the manual?? This became very annoying as my parents were in town and though I like autolock for safety, when we stopped the car and opened the drivers door, they were always locked in the back which became a PITA as I had to keep hitting the luck/unlock button (as there is no button in the rears for them to hit obviously). and this seems to stem from the fact I cannot, in fact, set both of those systems to activated? as I understand it, basically, if I set autolock the doors to "on" it should lock when we reach 12mph and if I set (or were able to) the autounlock feature also to "on" when we stopped and I opened the drivers door FIRST, all doors, even the rears, should unlock and be openable by the back seat people? but what happens if a person in the back seat is faster than you and pulls the handle before you do as the driver? once you pull yours would theirs then unlock or is it forever locked on them since they tried it before you had unlocked yours? UPDATE: okay.. maybe I found a bug in the system. IF I go through the setup and select Autolock "on" and then move next to Autounlock and set it to "on", it will disengage the Autolock feature and when I come back in the menu, it will be turned off. As per above as I claimed. Now, I tried this like 5 times and same thing every time. If I set the Autolock to "on" first and then tried to set Autounlock to "on" it alwayas turned off Autolock. BUT.. if I reversed the order and allowed the Autolock to be set to "off" when I turned the Autounlock to "on" and then came back around to Autolock and moved it from "off" back to the desired "on", it stayed! So, the point is, in my car, I had to set Autounlock to "on" first and then go back to set Autolock to "on" to be able to have them both "on"... get it?
  15. Okay... thanks to an awesome Tier II support guy following up with his team and then me, it looks like we got this solved and now, IF I make or take a call via the phone for some reason, it no longer defaults to Privacy Mode.. The fix was going to Prefs > Hands-Free > check/select the box "Always route call to Hands-Free" and from the drop down that pops up that says "Auto Answer:" set it to "Disable" this fix, on my Verizon Centro, seemed to work perfect.
  16. It seems, if I take or make a call with the phone handset, the Sync system defaults to Privacy Mode... BUT if I take or make a call with the Sync system (voice dial or touch screen) it does not... Anyone know why? This did not happen with my Treo 650, I just used the phone every now and then to take or place calls and then let Sync take over and viola... But with this Centro, and it did not do this before I am positive (as I did not have the Sync system setup with my address book and such so I was using the Centro to dial until I did), it has now started to default to Privacy Mode if I use the handset?? I am stumped and can't find the reason. help please.
  17. photo is too blurry.... but the results seem good. can you take a better shot? yeah, you would not want to post up in someone's thread that is selling them for his business... starting your own thread is cool and acceptable no doubt, but taking food off a guys plate in his own thread is not to cool.
  18. if you search here, you will find several threads already on this. But the highlights... you CANNOT - on your own at least - wire in a camera to the nav system. IF you get it done, it requires taking out the entire nav unit, shipping it to a place, have them do some soldering on the mother board, and send back. THEN and only then can you use the nav. there is NO plug-n-play system we can use to tie into the nav unit. this is costly. a wireless system is not so wireless... you still must run some wires and I read they are so so quality at best (which is why they are cheap). you can run wired 3rd party cameras. search here, people have done it. that is the best solution. yep, takes some wiring skills and wiring hiding and tying into the wire bundle.... plenty of great cameras to select from BUT, as you note, it means a 3rd part LCD screen on the dash or someplace of which there are also many great ones to select from. but not very integrated and bulky. I have researched this topic pretty heavily and this is how it is for us since Ford enclosed the nav unit system. which is why I have not done it since I want a seamless install but I do not want really pull out my nav unit and send it off at a 300-600$ cost.
  19. well where then would they stop: black, green, red, blue, orange, yellow, pink, white.... just not realistic for them
  20. I love mine.. and it seems fine (except for some pin hole air bubble spots that are no real big deal I saw from day one). but my question is, what does this mean for those of us that have had one for many, many months? were those older ones from a different batch/supplier and so should be okay over their life and not affected, or are they all from the same supplier and we have a future of bumper savers falling apart on us to look forward to?
  21. thanks guys... I think I will try the clay bar first attempt today. yeah. I knew bird poo could do this, and normally jump on any little poos or pollen or tree droppings, but I have to admit, I really did not think that type of 'etching' could happen that quick. we are talking just a few days sitting. not sure what that bird's diet was to cause such acidy dodo BTW, I do carry a microfibre with me, feel like a dork when I am in a parking lot cleaning off some splatter, but maybe I should carry some type of liquid cleaner as well.
  22. I think they are also now pushing the F 150 with "Employee Purchase" pricing - another commercial I am pretty sure I just saw - to help them move those bricks off the lot.
  23. so I am pretty fastidious about keeping my car clean.. wash it weekly by hand. But hey, I get busy and at times, dirt/funk sits a few days... what can ya do, thats life. Anyway.. a yellow bird poo has stained the paint on my bumper - plastic mind you.. and I cannot get it out. there is like a very small (2cm tall by pencil lead width wide) mustard yellow dodo line and I cannot get it off. it is like a stain. I tried some of my scratch remover that has worked awesome on over-spray and misc funk particles I have found here and there.. but to no avail. jeez.. did it leak that far down? any tips to get off the bird poo stain?
