1. "wireless" is not what you think. you still must wire this camera into a power source AND ground it AND wire it into your harness so that the camera knows when you have shifted into reverse. so, all this "wireless" does is stop you from having to run 1 wire, the 10 foot wire to your head unit and having done a camera install, that 10 foot wire is about the easiest of the 3 to run frankly. 2. how do you plan to mount that camera? those cams are designed so that you drill a big hole in your bumper and put this into the bumper - they have no swivel mount. a better setup is one under the license plate overhang (where the plate light are) that angles down for a better field of view. you need to find my backup camera install thread and read it - camera details, install details, etc. I looked at all these systems and cams and ended up with a nicer cam, mounts hidden under the license plate overhang so no bumper drilling, looks factory, better quality camera, and like I said, the whole "wireless" - is hardly that. if it were me, I would bail on this system.

Driving light bulbs on SEL
Lex Talionis replied to Picturepro's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
why do you think the 20w difference is a (1) a big deal (2) you must have it the 35w kits are so much better than stock, your big compliant, so the improvement alone is awesome & very noticeable that I am not sure why you let that hold you back... but, to each his own you can get every LED bulb you need on eBay or a place like http://www.superbrightleds.com/ -
you can get a much nicer antenna off of eBay or an antenna web site. something not 2 feet long

Driving light bulbs on SEL
Lex Talionis replied to Picturepro's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I was one of the first guys to do the HID Retrosolutions kits offered here. MANY people now use them. I went with 5000k in 35w and couldn't be happier. it is such a HUGE improvement output and color, 55w was not really of much value to me IMHO. for the price, hard to beat and the 35w will be impressive. any bulb could go out... so not sure how that matters here or there? I know you can't go down the street and buy the right HID bulb, but they can be had quick off the web and RS has a lifetime bulb replacement. HIDs... pull the trigger, they are awesome -
impressive.. I have watched guys do this before, pretty tricky process with these bizarre reflective patterned adjustable panels that bounce light around and show all angels of the dent

water spots on the chrome/plastic window trim
Lex Talionis replied to cobraetti's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
get a bottle of Turtle Wax ICE and use it as an all around cleaner on the cry in between washes -
my driveway is at an angle. I have an '08, never seen this issue. if it happens during car washing, are you sure water and soap and such is not going down the exhaust and getting burned off and making this issue as blue smoke is often oil getting into the cylinder head and being burned off... which would happen on flat or incline.

Rear Cargo Net mod
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I guess you missed the part where I said "and can quick remove as the velcro just unvelcros." -
yes, I know.. that is why I said what I said

never seen anyone here talk about a "chip" for the Edge BUT, there are numerous threads on tuners and loading tunes here. The Above Steeda is just 1, but a common one. the existing threads talk about what tunes people have done for what gas octane's, etc.

I appreciate the OP's honesty - I know where he is coming from the rest of you clownin him only wish your Edge was a rocking I went to sports authority and just got an air mattress, a double IIRC, and since it is an air mattress it does and will conform to the dimensions and profile. works perfect. can blow it up with the rear place outlet.

chrome looks tight IMHO, this was, at the time, the best style/design offered stock. I liked them so much, I negotiated to have them put on my 2008 Limited, though they were for SEL model, as I hate the chrome clad and refused to take them. They considered it a down grade and gave me $400 cash to apply to the purchase I considered it an upgrade these are good looking as chrome. better than I would have ever thought. good luck.

Always hated the rubber bin I kept in the trunk that held my beach towel, run shoes & hat, and misc junk. Well, at a local SoCal street fair I found these guys cool mesh zipper bungee bags - and got to thinking of a way to ditch the bin and make a cool hanging holder for my gear. They make several sizes and were having 2 for 1 sale so I bought 1 for the FJ40 and 1 for my Edge. For the Edge I used the 2815 size as it fit perfect on the 60 side (driver) of the 60/40 split seats we have. Why do I call this a mod? Because I had to mod the product. I knew that the back of the seat backs were fabric and pretty much the soft side of velcro is what it is like... so I got to thinking and I suspected I could just sew on 2" velcro all across the top of the bag, and 3/4 down each side and nothing on the bottom and this is because I need to be able to fold the seats down and that floating piece that covers the hinge of the last 8" of the seats needs to be able to move/float. So, if I Velcroed to that, not seats dropping easy. Plus, the velcro top and sides is plenty strong! It worked perfect. Hangs nice and snug. clean install, not more sliding rubber bin, things can dry. can still drop the seats with the electric button and can quick remove as the velcro just unvelcros.

highlight the ground to make sure you do not step in a puddle of water, poo, mud or so you can see if anyone is under your car about to slit your Achilles tendon

search around here about Steeda... you can find out yourself about the CAI system for the Edge. IIRC, one guy here bought it, and then trued to sell it here. They pretty much say you must buy a tuner - about $300-400 to tweak your engine so that it knows what to do with the new cooler larger airflow.. And if you do not, then they have a limiter sleeve in it and then in the end, IIRC, they wouldn't provide numbers and benefits for that.. point is, get ready to put out for more then their CAI if you want the benefits they say. Search here, you will see some topics. also, IIRC, there were some serious fit issues with the unit and the hood. I really wanted this CAI system, in the end, after all I read and researched, I just bailed out.

2007-2010 Ford Edge K&N drop-in filter for sale!
Lex Talionis replied to zinc76's topic in Classifieds
I have used them in many cars & trucks, and in my Edge right now and 1 in my FJ40 as well. K&N has a racing team, these filters go in ALL kinds of cars. I have never lost 1 bit of sleep thinking this filter will hurt my MAF sensor or engine in any way, shape or form. you could debate it all day.. but IF it is possible, and they put them in $10k engines and race them, the wear and tear - IMHO - is so minor, whatever... you could always sit and speculate on these types of minutia debates, or just throw the thing in and get on with life. I bet the crappy contaminated gas we put in does more damage then a K&N. PA LEASE -
Bike Hauler help needed
Lex Talionis replied to mbeez11's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
can you put a front hitch? no joke. you could 'maybe' do front hitch and hitch rack. just not sure if it is even possible on the Edge - doubt it, but maybe. Seen people do this on bigger trucks, vans, campers. -
Bike Hauler help needed
Lex Talionis replied to mbeez11's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
you don't want to put it on the lid if the trunk, why? you will ruin the rear spoiler but having the straps go over those and down to hold the carrier on the glass area. that is a lot of down pressure on that flimsy piece of plastic. plus, the straps hooks WILL, in time, rub on the body and cause damage to the paint. last, with a pocket knife I can cut off those racks and take the rack and or bike. get a roof rack as seen above. pricey, but most likely your best bet. -
Valentine V1 install (Invisicord)

and why is that? that's the whole point, so you catch the signal and it is not to late -
Production Tracking - Have VIN for 10 Edge Limited
Lex Talionis replied to Van G's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
never seen anyone here, in the years I have been here, that can track. Only place I ever saw it, and had it done to mine years ago, was over at the Blue Oval web site... but the guy that use to do it stopped long ago IIRC -
Valentine V1 install (Invisicord)
Lex Talionis replied to Whitey's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
actually, it seems higher the better. if people are in the back seat, would the signal not be bouncing off them? at least, with the headliner method, it might slide over their heads. but more for me I like that clear space from the mirror below, while the empty space above the mirror is useless, so I am pretty sure when/if I can score a V1 off eBay, that is where I will mount it no doubt. in the end, it is likely 6 of one half dozen of the other. -
Valentine V1 install (Invisicord)
Lex Talionis replied to Whitey's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I asked this question early last year and IIRC the Valentine was highly mentioned. I just never followed through. Now that I see I can do an invisicrd type option - not that brand as per above - I can get that nice clean mount system and make my own mount like Kempie as I like it better than the hanging mirror option. So, doing the eBay dance for a 1.8 with POP as if I am going to do this, I want the newest circuity.. does not have to be new radar, but newest technology for sure.
