sand, good primer and paint would likely hold. sure powder coat would be better, but way more coin for sure. IF they rattle, that is an easy fix also. a thin piece if rubber, like from a bike tire, cut & glued to fit into the recess would stop that. I am sure there are a ton of better options out there, color you want and rattle free, but these were just a few and it gets the idea across. my VW had some that had a plastic body with a metal ring and they were spring loaded, so no sound. check this out... lots of choices

Do you have a Limited? I will be curious to see this goes for you guys. I could see how heated mirrors matter, but not sure why having puddle lamps plays a role or not. the puddle lamps do not interact with the glass of the mirror like the heat does, so why would that matter. also, why would the passengers be more costly?

frankly.. I have never thought of them as that bad. I am not a speed racer per se, but they seem totally adequate to me. but I know many do not agree. when my brake pads go, I would upgrade them to something like this no doubt, but until then, I seem pretty fine with stock ones until I wear them down. Speaking of dust, not an issue on my Edge. Was on my VW, but not my Edge.

use the part numbers already provided by Ablb, plug them into the websites search part number function, and you will see the same info he already provided 9T4Z17K707C $74.98 $0.00 $51.74 GLASS ASY - REAR VIE 9T4Z17K707D $74.98 $0.00 $51.74 GLASS ASY - REAR VIE but not sure where er65nsunny gets $120 for a pair? it is a pretty convoluted search function.. put in "glass" for example and you get no results, but clearly "glass" is used in the terms..

Lex Talionis replied to MKXgeek's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
hello . both have been talked about here to some degree.. search reveled these for example: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1905 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2208 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1994 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2715 search eBay for "ford edge 2008" will show nerf bars and bull bars -
your link goes to another website and then you get the link.. here is the direct link for ya anyway.. nice visuals.. someone might find it useful to see the unit removed despite the Edge being a different center console removal process.

okay.. okay.. I call hog wash on this whole thing. you want to talk about "the “old” way"? "the old way" is using a piece of technology whose core design has not changed from it's inception. yeah, we have powered the mirrors, added puddle lamps, made them fold close, defrost, put turn signals on them and even made them auto dim... but none of that has ever really improved the core function of the side view mirrors: to show you what is to the side and behind you & in your blind spots (yes, they really exist). after all this improvement, we still have... drum roll please... a flat piece of mirror. one of the most antiquated pieces on the modern auto. But yeah, we did not need the cruise control, your foot worked fine - keyless entry, the key worked fine - power mirrors/windows/locks/seats, manual adjustment worked fine - HID/LED lights, incandescent worked fine - the Navi system, a Thomas Brothers worked fine - heated seats, a jacket worked fine - leather seats, fabric worked fine - auto open doors/trunk, an arm worked fine - fuel injection, the carb worked fine... and even integrated blind spot mirrors, yes your head can swivel fine. But what kind of logic is this? these mirrors are a better mouse trap. period. a natural improvement on one of the most dated pieces of the most modern cars you see today (and future cars yet to come undoubtedly). These mirrors represent (1) an long overdue natural obvious next step of the side view mirror and (2) an undeniable simple piece of added safety and I would think you, the guy that defends the safety logic of Ford not allowing us to change our Navi settings wheel driving, would buy into 100% and not just dismiss it by saying our heads can swivel.. all while you sit in the luxury of your leather, electric, heated (maybe even cooled), power, 10-way adjustable seat.

reinforcement would be very easy to do if you felt it needed (depending on load type you plan to 'secure' or just 'hold')... I would likely mount 4 to just the sides (as I have a nice cargo liner on the floor) and low as possible. these flush mount pop up kinds are great as they can be made flush so you can still pull up the floor, and they are out of the way when not in use. I had ones in my VW that folded out of the way when not in use. These ones I showed are rather costly as they are nicer, but I have seen similar for a lot less, I just showed ones I could Google quick (cargo tie downs) to make the point. click here for the 2 I showed here is a much cheaper option WITH backing plates: click here

Any one useinga K&N air filter
Lex Talionis replied to DEADEYE's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I have K&N on past cars, and a current truck, and will/would on my Edge.. but I am holding out for a CAI kit, making a K&N not needed as the kit would come with it making the after market filter not usable. point is, I will/would use one on the Edge no worries. -
one bummer in this car is that it has no tie down loops. I, several time, considered mounting a few of these - or one like it - in the back so we had loops to tie to, but did not do it (yet) get 4 of these and then a cargo net from a motorcycle shop (as they are smaller) and there you go

GI Key Hole / Bumper Plugs
Lex Talionis replied to iKONA's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
these guys are a rip off.. stole my money.. never responded to PP despite them ruling in my favor. phone number now seems dead and website now seems dead. started searching the web on these guys - it seems a day late and a dollar short - and it appears they are going from Auto website to auto website and leaving a wake of crud. seen the same thing now on scion, ford, tiburon, RX, Camaro, dodge, acura websites. people are pissed and trying, like me, to get refunds or product... bad news.. dozens and dozens of people with the same claim. this guy is a scumbag of the highest order. I found the guy at anither site and called him out in public. the amount of lies and public promises he made was amazing. I 'promised' and 'gave his word' that he would refund me and send the product as a gesture, I only wanted my money, and he never did. He even tried to tell me he sent it.. but the more you read, you see he has an amazing number of claims where he sent it and it never arrived. you should read this over 40 pages of rag on this jerk off. BEWARE -
I am a bit surprised that those F series mirrors came with instructions.. but sure enough, looks like you got some. I have bought many parts for many of my cars over the years from dealers - if I could not get them from the web - and cannot ever recall getting instructions with a single part. We will see what will happen I suppose... "looks like we'll have to wait a few more weeks" why, are you ordering some for the Edge then? if so, post up part numbers (drivers & passengers) for just the mirrors BTW.. I was actually thinking today, on a hunch, that of you tilted them to the uppermost (or lowest) position they can be in, there might be some kind of release behind them to pop out the glass. these directions hint that I was kind of on track with how to access a release method as when I changed out my custom puddle LED lamps, I notice if I really allowed the adjustable mirror to tilt all the way up (or down) I could kind of get finger access behind the glass

I'll let you experiment with prying it apart & postin up the results Limited mirror bodies are painted, so not to excited by that prospect not sure how many parts you have bought from a parts department at a dealer, but in my experience, I wouldn't expect any directions. I would expect a box and a mirror. you might get directions if you buy an 'accessory', and they will suck if you do, but not really for "parts" as they are assuming the dealer is installing and don't often have directions for sold parts. case in point, I just installed a new sliding glass window motor in a Ford Mustang for a buddy to help him save money, not a single instruction included with that 'part'.

GI Key Hole / Bumper Plugs
Lex Talionis replied to iKONA's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
As of today, 4 weeks, these guys have not responded to my email or followed up on my PM nor sent me the product nor refunded my money nor answered the PayPal dispute. Not a very good eBay feedback score either -
$88.87 per mirror... just the mirror? that seems within reason. did you get a part number quoted for drivers side and a part number for passengers side? the big question is how to access the backside of the glass to pull it off. I would have to inspect it to see if it is able to be separated. I wonder how they can quote you 228.85 given there are some housings are all black, some painted, some with puddle lamps and some with out... what setup exactly did 228.85 get you? not that it really matters as I personally would never go that route, but just curious. I 'might' consider the $89 route as a little side project if I can crack open those bodies. I have custom made and replaced the puddle lamps in mine with LED lamps, but I do not recall seeing a way to open the actual body.

I thought that the VINCENT # was just a generic reference number that allows the dealer to look up the details of the offer, but in no way ties it to a person. That was my understanding. Anyway, I do notice on the remaining cash rebate I have, it says FOR YOUR FRIEND... I wonder if the other said the same thing as I already sent it out. Since they know I am a new Ford owner, I can't possible believe that 6 months later they would be expecting ME to buy another car from them and try to entice me with $750... I already made my purchase so seems kind of illogical they would try to get me to buy again and so soon..
-
frankly.. I would be surprise if they did NOT fit. the mirror bodies look identical, and not sure why a new mirror with blindspot would require the remaking of a different body. If anything, it would be financially prudent to tweak as little as possible.. which in this case would seem to be leave the body, tweak the mirror and keep using the same bodies. I think the bigger question would be how costly for just the mirror or must you buy the entire color matched body/mirror system and/or how hard would it be to access and remove the existing mirror assuming you even can. I could also seem them make this a closed system such that when you break a mirror, you must pop for a whole new body/mirror. that would also be a better part money maker for them.
-
yeah, as I quoted above, it mentions something to that effect on the back in fine print but has no name or local (like California only) signifier on it so not exactly sure how - and if - they check. Maybe by the VINCENT program# Also, in these times, Ford especially with their abysmal recent reports, might be damn happy to sell or lease that car with with the extra $750 off. But hey, I am giving them free and so worth the shot to try.. if I can help a guy get an unexpected $750 off... I have done my yearly good deed
-
just curious, how long did it actually take for yours to get this stage? I know it will vary by location and usage, but just curious how much time passed?
-
word... for better or worse... I am over all these signs up and down our streets, harassing robo phone calls, lame political TV ads, and endless pundit rhetoric and BS
-
no.. they are free.. trying to help someone who does not get the Ford ads in the mail, but whom wants a Ford (like I was back in Jan) get a little break... jeezz ahh yes... I think I recall you tried to dog me about selling something I paid for that came with my car because somehow since it came with the car it was wrong of me to turn around and sell the parts I removed because "I got it for free", despite paying 30k to own it. I say then what I say now, I hope the guy selling his upgraded and no longer needed wheels, rims, navi system, springs, exhaust, amp, speakers gets the same grief! thanks... I feel slapped and patted on the back all in 1 post
-
whom ever said ANYTHING about selling them? I merely posted it here as it seemed the most logical place... where else was I suppose to post them?? I was offering them freely... maybe you misunderstood... did you think "only serious buyers and not 'maybe' buyers" meant relative to buying these from me? ha ha ha ha ha that was meant relative to only those serious about BUYING A FORD!!! I do not want give them to someone 'maybe' buying a Ford, I want someone who IS buying a Ford to get them.
-
no doubt about voting... today is the day to be heard - to a degree but yeah, technology allows these ad deliveries everywhere now... I have seen the prop 8 ads now on the most unrelated sites you would never expect.. one on a shoe store website
