Auto headlamp setting so they're on during the day?
Lex Talionis replied to tmk1965's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
because DRLs - what he wants - do not come turned on from the factory. the dealer must do it via computer. just turning on the on switch, and having DRLs that are on when the switch is in the auto position are totally different needs. -
Steeda's Cold Ait Intake for the Ford Edge now available !
Lex Talionis replied to larryinfl's topic in Mods & Tech
a. it is about time b. yeah, they need more info on the tuner - what you get (or can request) for tunes, how many, how you request, etc this thing is a whopping $700 investment - should/cold cut a deal for people that buy both in 1 if they d not have a tuner already (most of us). see this thread for more info on this topic. PS - anyone in SoCal San Diego have one of these tuners so I can just get the tune I want from them and upload it without spending the coin on a seldom used tuner -
Auto headlamp setting so they're on during the day?
Lex Talionis replied to tmk1965's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
yeah.. but then if you have nav it dims that into night mode and turns on interior lights and such during the day.. thats a bit of an ugly hack no doubt just go to the dealer and have them turned on as was mentioned above -
Stuck with Factory class II Hitch! Help!!!
Lex Talionis replied to crucian's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I am 99.9% sure factory hitch is welded on. read the numerous hitch threads here, those with factory pipe in it is welded, those of us who added after-market use the bolt on method AND get a 2" receiver -
Obama.. he has not exactly been pro gun. so, many fear he will tighten restrictions on obtaining guns. thus, people are rushing out to buy. I think I read, locally, handgun sales alone went up 50% since he was elected. However, it would be some time before he could push legislation thru, if he does, so it might be a bit of an unnecessary mad rush at this moment.

search the forums/Google and you will find body kit options.. nothing specific for just a 'lip kit' I am pretty sure, but I have seen several 3D carbon type lower kits mentioned here that 'might' get you what you want. LMP Performance, Steeda

Sync 1.2 just released
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
well, it has always done that.. since day 1. so not sure why it has not for you. if it has not done that for you then you must have (1) some technical issue needing further investigation or (2) an mp3 player that is not on the tested and approved list here but, either way, worth getting to find out if it helps you -
I cant remember exact, but IIRC is there not like 3 gray pigtails and 2 antennas for a total of 5 back there into the head unit. and maybe the Sirius is the pink head antenna tail? and yeah, i understand that the sirius is in the rear behind a side panel. again, someone had this issue I am nearly positive, you might find it here somewhere.
-
search the audio section, I seem to remember this exact same thing for someone else.. and I 'think' it came down to them not putting the Sirius cable back into the head unit (or fine at the head unit be removed at the Sirius receiver unti mounted in the rear)... or something simple like that.

Passenger airbag door discoloration
Lex Talionis replied to goatee's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I, also, was going to write about this sometime back.. and just blew it off. but yes, in my black interior, that door is like a light black verging on dark gray. -
Anyone have HID bulbs with no HID kit??
Lex Talionis replied to end's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
bbf said it all. 100% BS and not HID bulbs. you want HID, you must install an HID kit. -

2009 Factory Sony Nav system
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
yeah.. I think we agree on the underpinnings being the unknown... to a degree. the last part of my last post says as much. BUT, putting a new nav system in the car and telling it are pretty easy. read these forums & web search, many people have taken out the stock head unit nav systems and swapped in new head unit nav system and gotten modules that allow them to talk to an ipod, steering wheel controls, Sirius, etc. heck, here is just a recent one with some specs. so, that is not really an issue. the issue is really if the harness from the system will mate up to that 2009 nav unit and or if not, what about a harness adaptor. that is what I think. and think about this.. 1. new or replaced or OEM or after-market Nav units can work. that is proven. people have done it. many times. so that is covered. 2. Sirius - modules can be attained to tie your new nav unit into the existing Sirius tuner. so that is covered 3. get the travel link data - once you get the module that allows your new head-unit to talk to the installed sirius tuner, that will come in on the same signal IF you pay $7 a month. so that is covered. 4. you can get modules to tie certain nav units to the steering wheel system. so that is covered. 5. Sync... well, there is an issue agreed so.. I certainly think there are hurdles, but not exactly the ones you mention or seem to think or ones that cannot seem to be overcome. "cluster", "pcm", "abs" - seems these are all covered as people are taking out the stock nav system - if we just focus on that fact alone - they do not like and putting in after-market, and they are working. so not sure what to tell you there. -

2009 Factory Sony Nav system
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Based on a question I was PM'd, I kind of want to revive this topic. When I first bought this topic up, the units were announced and about to starting to come out so very little was know other than press release info and stock photos. there was some speculation and unknowns at the time. Also, based on what I understood back in July, it would not be doable - from Ford, from fleet managers, from some other web links I found (I do not recall or bookmark them). Back then, at the time, the speculated issue would have been that the form factor is different. That is, actual size of the nav unit may be a different opening. thus, not sure how it would line up and fit into existing opening. Speculation was the new 2009 nav unit is wider for example and has another button option called "I" for "Info", so that would mean the nav unit is also likely taller. so the thought was that both of these may have ramifications on the entire center console fitment. That is, pulling off the center console and then pulling out the 2008 nav unit is no problem, but then to just plug and play in a 2009 nav unit with a potential different form factor into the opening and having your center console also fit around it.. you see.. there were concerns it would not be possible. well now, many months later, I would say it likely is possible. I have since seen actual photos of the units in cars, touched & used one, and the form factor looks the same to me. yes, buttons have been moved around, some removed, new ones added, but all what looks to be in the same form factor from true install photos in true existing cars - not press mock-up photos from the auto shows. So now, my only concern would be the behind the scenes under pinnings of the system we cannot see in these photos. the wiring. is it different now? not likely, but it would be costly to buy that unit and find out. also, how does Sync now interact with those units given they have different abilities? the "info" button and "travel link" data for example. would Sync know this when you plug in a 2009 unit into a 2008 system? one would assume yes, as there are not several different sync systems and the commands are likely just tucked away and not used in a 2008 system but called upon in a 2009 system, but not 100% sure. and there was the recent 1.1 and 1.2 Sync updates. how do those play into it. these would now be my concerns, and not so much the form factor as it was a concern early on. also at the time, and never talked about in anything I ever read, is that Sirius users now have to pay additional costs to get the Travel Link services. This is known now, not talked about then as it was kind of insinuated that as a Sirius subscriber, which is what you need to get the Travel Link cool data, you got it as part of the service you paid for as it travels in on the same data feed. Not so, it is an additional $7 a month for all that fun cool data - not all that surprising I guess. -
I know it was a joke dude.. no worries... just wanted to try to reverse the heat a bit which it seems I did as look at that response PS - And yes, I watched the same TN t.v. special and show that everyone else did across the USA that he had on for a season - I was surprised to fully admit him to be highly intelligent, well spoken, knowledgeable, and basically to be agreed with for the post part - he certainly leans to a zone that is a bit more hardcore than most gun owner believers. TD ups the ante no doubt, which can come across as a bit much to be beneficial to the cause.

uh yeah... right :violin: UPDATE: It is now available... READ HERE

Personally, I resent the comparison to ted nugent.. their is a grand canyon wide difference between a kooky extremist zealot like TN and myself. the mere fact I do not hunt is just 1 of example. I hardly consider it a sausage party as well, my chick shoots with me and enjoys it as much as I do. Like many things, it is a skill. one worth honing - and that takes practice. you will never see me on YouTube rapid firing while drinking a beer with some WT buddies. I take it serious. and BTW.. "civilization" has always had arms, heck, enough so that the right to own them made it into the constitution, so the "21st century" crack is pretty misplaced.. swords? if anything, here in the "21st century", I would rather own than not own and know how to use it as well.

Sync 1.2 just released
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Here is a way I can confirm I actually have the update User Device > Settings > System Info (next option below Install) reported: Before 5.6.8101 and 9L37-14DS44-AC After 5.7.08323 and 9L3T-14DS44-AD BTW.. timing was like literally 1 minute to the first verbal confirmation and then a screen that said "Rebooting..." and then 4 minutes later the verbal confirmation and a screen that said "installation complete" Does not appear to have reset al of my settings a this time, but I did not mouse around much. -
Sync 1.2 just released
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I would say you have 1.2 then BTW, if you research that original Software version checker... it had so many problems, most people never got it to work nor confirm on the site. and at this stage.. who cares really. I would say you are good to go - especially since you noticed a new benefit. -
Sync 1.2 just released
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
1 minute? the site says "Please Read - This update will take up to 18 minutes to complete: Approximately 60 seconds after you begin the installation, you will receive an 'Installation Complete' message. DO NOT REMOVE your USB drive or turn off your vehicle. You must wait an additional 4-18 minutes until you hear a second 'Installation Complete' message before you can remove your thumb drive. During this interval, while the update is loading, SYNC will not recognize your mobile phone or media device. Be sure to leave your vehicle engine running throughout the entire installation process. " are you sure you did not bail out early. they note at 60 seconds you get an 'Installation Complete' message - which is about what you said.. but you are not done yet. I recall my 1.1 did not take nearly the 12-15 minutes they said, but it was also not a 1 minute install. also, are you sure the car is running.. yes running. many people did not do this and it caused issue. I am not sure I would count 100% on the SMR site to confirm 100% you have it installed - or not. I know when I did 1.1 I noticed ASAP it fixed the 3 main issues I had, so I knew the install took despite the odd reports the website would give me under my account. I am about to go try the install myself. the first 1.2 release the other day failed for me, like for everyone else, so I will report if this one takes as it seems it is for most everyone that had failure with the first 1.2 in the opening 24 hours. -
never heard of temp related issues with this system... but hey I know I have had issues here and there and sometimes just pulling the cable and blowing air over it has worked... so hey, time will tell. I would still do the 1.1 update
