  1. so.. I assume this sound clip is the removed resonator + new magnaflow? might be nice for people that just find this thread to know for sure what this sound stems from.
  2. hmm.. interesting.. so, "Testing has shown gains of up to 35hp and 27ft/lbs of torque at the wheels when running this system without the insert AND using a custom tune." now how does this insert & no tune change the numbers, any idea?
  3. your kidding, right? go do some research. you really think an exhaust that is bent 4 inches out of the way is a significant heat cut back.. heck, even do some research on this site, and you can see straight exhaust pipes to cut down on curves and bends. As far as I know 818EDGE has not blown up yet with his Gibson.. ha ha ha maybe you better call Magnaflow and alert them also
  4. well heck.. if he was under there.. should have had him cut that out and make a straight shot. more turns and bends like that just add to back pressure. and in this case, it is not like that bend is needed to job around the tranny or something.. should have had him take it out. for what he seems to be charging you, could have been done cheap
  5. try this guy http://stores.ebay.com/US-Home-Direct - it is where I get all my bulbs yep, now that you busted it already, screw it.. the goal now would be to see if there is a way to cut around the base or lens with like a dremmel, remove the lens, get to that bulb, replace bulb, epoxy or glue the lens back on. how about take some photos of that unit you have now that it is opened and the bulb itself and post the up.
  6. have not been under my car in a while, so cannot recall if there is a reason, but what is with the gnarly bend in the pipe from the muffler back? why is it not straight shot back as it does not look like it is jogging around anything from that photo?
  7. nice.. but would have cost a lot more if you actually want to larger pipe.. even though it sounds like your guy works cheap .. which is part of the benefit of doing a new exhaust system.. you got kind of a hybrid deal going on here.
  8. no... unless you cut apart the sealed/enclosed bulb/holder unit. The things are roughyl $50 per 1, so not worth the test to find out IF you can cut it open with a dremmel tool AND extract the bulb AND even hope you can find a right size/fit LED buld IF you can even cut that thing open successfully AND then you would have to epoxy it all back together. believe me, if you could do it the way you think you could, I would not have made my own. I would have just swapped bulbs of course like I did on the rest of the car this is not an inside light, it is not like everything bulb in the entire car. it is not painless and easy to access the bulb itself - or at all.. that is why it is $50 per puddle lamp as it is an enclosed unit. Not sure how you broke yours, mine pop right out and they are just plug and play. so, if one goes out, yep, you toss the entire bulb/puddle lamp/lens system and pop in a new one. the whole mirror is never messed with. for those that care.. my 1 of a kind LED puddle lamps we are talking about are right here
  9. no, I have an '08. screw driver slot just pops open and drops down the entire enclosed bulb unit. as far as I know, I am the only one to ever make LED puddle lamps - and thus have them on an Edge - and doing so remains dispensing with their enclosed bulb unit. trust me I researched it pretty deep before jumping in as even trying to cut open their unit to retreive the bulb and swap it out with an LED would be a at best and a :censored: at worst
  10. how about in that license plate recessed area, up under the lip overhang. OR, how about up under the rear spoiler? IF you change your mind about doing a license plate cam, you let me know. I have one to sell, top of the line, unopened in box, with night vision and CCD I was going to use but I found a killer license plate frame I had to have, so could not use it. BTW, above end mentions "bullet style camera" - this might be the actual option for you. I considered this as well. these are cameras that are flush mounted in the bumper and look like a reverse sensing sensor when mounted. need to drill a hole in the bumper, but when installed and flush mounted, pretty clean. I looked at a bunch on ebay ('rearview camera') when I was considering my options.. tons of styles and qualities, but for sure, you could do this option.
  11. I suggest you read my post as I mounted one that is as clean as can be. tiny high end CCD camera - no cheap cmos. used a great aftermarket interface box to tie into nav system. cleaner than some factory I have seen for sure. works awesome. I love it. you do not even know it is there unless I show it to you or you are looking hard. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2768 maybe it will help you with your MKX...
  12. very interesting... can you take any photos of this under the car? so, do they torch it off and repipe? can you make a sound clip and post it - say with a cell phone or something? also.. what about inside the car noise.. did it go up becuase you did this? interesting read seems like for $25, you either got a deal... or a hack job
  13. not sure why a new thread was made, but if you read the above link, the 7 existing pages in the original thread can answer any possible question you would have on the topic.. best to read that thread
  14. well, I guess I cannot say I am 100% sure. but, I seem to recall reading comments on this before AND I wonder, after the fact, can they really just 'pop' out that "piece" and throw in a BAMR? I would say not likely. also think about this.. not just the BAMR itself (glass, rails/track, motor) but ALSO you need a new set of switches to control them in the headliner where the sunglass case is presently as you only have the light/map switches and any relays and fuses and wiring to power the unit and BAMR need to possibly be added and/or run and an entirely new head liner that has the cutouts and retractable awning & its mechanism... I mean come on.. at that stage, it must be crazy expensive too retro that in and I bet no dealer wants to undertake that nightmare or the responsibility.
  15. this I did not know.. but just open it so your head sticks out.. then room is not an issue but, this is not possible
  16. what is the difference between a vista roof and a non vista roof inside... booth are roofs, you must have a roof over your head, how is the profile different? it is that significant to not get it? anyway.. that BAMR roof kicks butt - a huge part of why I love that car. could not envision not having it.
  17. then I would say KCFlyer nailed it
  18. well.. do yo have the reverse sensing system or not? if you do, we know that harness is not for that, if you do not, we more likely know that harness you show IS for that reverse sensing system.
  19. I think that is as good a guess as any until we hear back. he does not say if he has that function - and we know 2007-2008 required an after-market harness... so I think you hit it
  20. well... was it? you never answered your own question here... your pulling a trailer, what was that harness?
  21. some of this was also already covered in this Sync 1.2 thread at release time anyway FWIW.. I used Safari (3.1 at the time) and OS X (10.4.11 at the time)... no probs for me with that setup 1.1 had issues with the applet.. but I had no issues with 1.2
  22. thanks for all of that. let me ask about this "remove the snorkel at the bottom of the airbox".. I recall that snorkel is actually at the 'side' not bottom technically, but more important... why would you want to do that? what would you really gain and why is that even there i the first place
  23. here is a conspiracy theory thought on this as I was thinking about it recently.. 'maybe' the required tune is to hide the fact that the CAI is only minimally effective and is needed to live up to the numbers they post. That is, maybe the CAI alone only gives x% benefit but with the tune, you get xx% benefit and that is more sellable and has more of a wow factor. so, the tune is actually doing more of the work to get those key increases than the CAI, so requiring the tune really gets you those great numbers whereas the CAI itself, stand alone, does not.
  24. you were 100% bamboozled. they absolutely do light up.
  25. Mark - if you search here for HID lighting, numerous threads will come up that fully discuss it. no reason to rehash here. no, it is not hard, I think very easy.. just plug and play (unless you have DRLs and that presents another layer of install that is more difficult - but in USA, most of us do not have DRL as they are not turned on at factory). No, will not void warranty. As I said, previous threads will cover everything you ever wanted to know about HID for the Edge from photos, install steps, bulb temps, electronic ballasts, where to buy, where to mount, DRL resistor/capacitor issues, blah blah blah
