Remote Start and Siruis?
Lex Talionis replied to jtalberts's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
For those wanting Sirius.. read this thread on another site I found while googling a different topic. might find it fruitful. -
Found out that there is a confirmed 2nd USB port on the 2009 Flex, you just need to plug a cable into it and then your device.. so anyone heard/read/found elsewhere where this hidden port is on the Edge? Or, does anyone know where the APIM (accessory protocol interface module) box is located? as I believe that is where the 2nd port is located. I think it is in the center console someplace and only yon cars with Sync.

LED Puddle Lamps! Home Made!
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
UPDATE: read here and you will see a method for opening up the actual factory puddle lamp and changing the bulb to an LED 32mm festoon. Another member, accidentally breaking his puddle lamp trying to get it out, threw caution to the wind and went ahead and opened up the factory sealed puddle lamp unit with a screw driver as a pry tool. As I mentioned above, at $50-60 a pop for 1 puddle lamp, though I suspected this could be done, was not wiling to try to pop that lens off and get to the bulb. But, since he already broke it, he had no reason not to try and sure enough, it is possible. I ended up using a dremmel tool to remove my lens cleanly from the sealed unit rather than a prying screw driver head - which I was going to do originally until I found the replacement cost of 1 lamp in case I happened to screw it up was so high - and will now go back to the original factory puddle lamps BUT with new LED bulbs in them. -
well done! so my original premise was correct back in my thread about being able to open them up and swap bulbs. well, this is 1 time it appears breaking something turned out well as it allowed you to throw all caution to the wind and go ahead and experiment on a $50 part ($100 for the set). And sure enough, it was doable. I will still try the dremmel to make a cleaner edge as I see the screw driver pry method really butchered the edge/lip up a bit. BTW, it looks like you got the bulbs from the eBay guy as they look like what I used in the rear trunk? did you? UPDATE: I just took a dremmel tool with a nice thin diamond cutting blade and made a perfect cut all the way around the base of the lens and viola.. pooped the lens right off with a very clean edge & no breakage. literally took me 30 second per puddle lamp.

Remote Start and Siruis?
Lex Talionis replied to jtalberts's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
funny you mention this as I was about to ask jtalberts if he has the black antenna on his spoiler? I wondered if the factory put them all in place, and then for those that ordered sirius like I did when I ordered my car or for those with it coming off the line, they finish off and put in the module & wired it up. But like you say.. if he does not have that antenna on the spoiler, then no wiring down, then likely have to get after market kit which you can read about here where dealer installs for like $450, or at like TSS Radio or a dash mount even -
Magnaflow CAT sound clip 2
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
you mention a "high flow resonator"... I thought you just put your stock one back in? -
do a search on the topic.. Audio, Navigation, SYNC & Interior is 1 place to start.... there are several people that have done it. 2007 & 2008 are similar, so installs in either would work.

Magnaflow CAT sound clip 2
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
yep, you can hear the difference loud and clear. sounds nice - good clip. can you give more feedback on the internal sound? "not overwhelming but is definitely heard" - would you honestly say it is an issue if it was? BTW, where you at? a prison yard -
believe me.. I wanted it to.. and you can see by those other threads, even considered swapping out nav systems to a 2009 if possible as I loved the idea of the functions like some of what they were offering.. but

Remote Start and Siruis?
Lex Talionis replied to jtalberts's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
so, your still running or splicing wires to a degree, even dealing with a harness - which is like kryptonite to some people. with the Sirius, yes, you can read around here about adding Sirius after the fact to your stock head unit. Some threads on it, where to find the mount location (like Dymes points out), etc.. But it still requires dealing with antenna and head unit hookup. IIRC, you cant just plug in the Sirius box in the back and POW.. Sirius. I think it an easy install, but to some... maybe not. You still have antenna and head-unit interface to do. and with the remote start, again, several threads on it about how it can be done, but again, you still have a harness and wires to run. it is not just as simple as plug in a remote start box and POW.. remote start. so, as said above, both of these are totally attainable. it is just a matter of (1) how much effort your willing to put in and (2) how plug and play do you really expect/want it to be. -
answer is no... it is a new service that runs on upgraded hardware. 2007-2008 have totally different nav hardware than 2009 IIRC pretty sure we discussed this here, but if not, you can get even more info over at Syncmyride.com http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2710 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3048 and also.. the even newer claimed version that has additional Traffic, Directions and Information is only on select 2010 models

Remote Start and Siruis?
Lex Talionis replied to jtalberts's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
understood.. but I guess what I was assuming is that you would see from previous threads, like BBF points out, there are not prewire setups and that though both are totally possible to do, everyone who does them must do some wiring. not just simple plug and play. if there were prewire and plug and play options, they would have been discussed here. anyway, the good news is, you can get these both if you really want - it just may not be the straight plug and play you desire. -
Magnaflow CAT system rework
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
oh my God!!! don't tell Waldo as according to him, you might blow up now anyway.. this move alone takes out back pressure and should, though I know not really important as sound is to you, have a performance increase -

if you use the search function, both after market Sirius and the remote start have been covered several times.. you should find all you need in previous threads. -
Magnaflow CAT system rework
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
dude.. your obsessed with this exhaust system. what is it, like the 3rd revamp in 1 weeks time? so um, did he also run a straight shot in the exhaust and remove that 4 point turn? looks like it to me not sure what tips are on the SEL, but on my Limited I like them. -
Howard was talking about this today. It will be an interesting next 2 days as they have until like Thurs to come up with 175 million in bank payment IIRC. And the guy that is mentioned is trying to do a takeover of the company & Stern was trying to get him on the phone today or wed to ask "whats up?"
-
never seen them here.. people have done several installs here, but do not think this one as most of those done here do not perfectly match (down to the stitch color) this product. so, I alone, like that aspect as the others seem close in color, but totally off in stitch color - not to mention all the package attributes.. IF I was in the market, on first quick review/glance, I would give these serious consideration. so what, do you work for them

someone here is using an iPhone are you using "Listen"

man.. just seems like all the way around you have a bad listening experience... radio, sirius... next your CD player is gonna go and you will be stuck with just AM

content.. it is all about content.. for me at least.. sound quality? well, 2nd on the importance scale to me if even. I can deal with lesser sound quality versus :censored: HORRIBLE, pandering, regurgitated, censored, cut-n-paste, weak terrestrial radio with their incessant commercials, canned content, and lame ass DJs with all their dumb sound effects and .. oh god, makes me want to put a gun to my head anyway... now that being said, I have 3 subscriptoins with them and given the recent merger, and now annoucned price hikes they SWORE would not come with the merger, I am likely going to drop 2 of them. not because of quality, not becuase of content, but becuase I cannot tolerate getting jacked around after public promises were made about pricing on a 'luxury' item (like cable TV) I do not really even 'need'. They are now increasing cost on base subscriptions, charging for (what was free with your subs) internet listening, increased cost on extra subscriptions. So in the end, it would be a major hike in price across the board for 3 subs. in these times, bad idea to raise prices as people just start cutting out what they do not need. I just did the 1 year renew on them in early Jan so got the original rates on all those variables, and then they started mass emailing and public announced the price increases 2 weeks later. so, come next Jan, likely say goodbye to them all but 1 subscription.
