"shatter".. that is a big scary difference than "crack"

Anyone else here having their LED bulbs start to flicker and go bad after say about a 6 months to a year? In the last month I have had 2 LED bulbs go bad and the guy is trying to tell me I need resistors.. that would be like 10 different resistors and where do you place them in dome light or map light or license plate light given spacing. I have always 100% understood you need them for turn signal applications, but not just when switching out bulbs in the car like I have.. anyone else had LED bulbs NOT in turn signals start to flicker after extended use?

2009 Factory Sony Nav system
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
pretty cool to see someone has a 2009 running in 2008 "for the most part".. yes, several critical issues remain so I, for one, will be very curious to see what comes of this and if they can work on the Sync, USB and BT issues. please keep is informed on any progress and what you find out. -
well yeah, it is really very easy.. does yours have the "i" information button? if so, it is 2009, if not, it is 2007/2008. you can even search and see photos here of a 2009 unit.

A/C Adapter Switch Installation

search around here, I seem to recall wiring diagrams here since many of us have tapped into wires doing all sorts of mods, IIRC some people even posted up wiring diagrams/colors. -
Looking for Sport Running Boards

so here is the scoop... not exactly as hoped, but still useful and for only about $7 in cables, worth it. In my system with a nav screen, when I hook up both USB and USB2, USB2 is recognized if BUT.. it seems that they both cannot be indexed at the same time. That is, both cannot be plugged in and you switch back and forth between USB and USB2 unless you remove (unplug) one. So, that means, if I am using USB and my chick gets in the car and plugs in hers into USB2, it is recognized but will not "initialize" or "index". You can see in and select it, but no joy in playing it. If you take USB out (just unplug) USB2 will come on automatically & start up. Connect USB back in, no joy. Undo USB2 and then USB comes on automatically. So, you can still get the effect, and both can be hooked up, but only one can play unless you unhook another. So, if you get one playing and hook the other in, as I said, it will be noticed but not playable, but nor will it stop the other from functioning. make sense?

yep, much of this has been covered in several other topics strictly on CAI and tuners.. now.. first, when you got your non Steeda CAI & Steeda spacer, Steeda didn't even have their CAI, it was just unobtainum at that time, so how did they even know their existing TBS would or would not fit? Second, now that they DO have the CAI, they told you their own TBS will not even work with it, is that how you know it will not fit? Was there some technical reason for that in that the 2 together is uneeded?

A/C Adapter Switch Installation
Lex Talionis replied to tloewenberg's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
why you doing this? what will you gain? anyway.. can you even see the needed wires? I cannot tell 100% from your post. if you could, use simple splice connectors. if not, well... looks like you might be the first on this one -
with the current state of affairs with Ford, and the plant shut down, I would be more worried about getting my car any time soon than the DVD players
-
yeah but now, as of like 2-3 weeks now, you could get a true Steeda CAI with an airbox (to compliment your Steeda TB spacer) as they finally released them
-
yep.. Gallery is toast right now got that same dreaded "THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED" again last night
-
Hard to know just yet, but I saw that "THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED" message a few days back and was like.. oops, they forgot to pay the bill. Seemed like the forum got short term shut down for 1 reason or another more and more often in last few months. anyway, time will tell. but does feel faster and snappier

as I said above, I did not expect you to find measurements for an Escape here... IF you must have the DVD, I would buy Edge specific after market color matched DVD from those talked about here. many options... As for Charcoal.. I have it and it is awesome. very clean and classy. And yes, I ordered mine also and once you put the order in, forget changing stuff.

I am not worried 1 bit. (1) the connection is pretty darn surprisingly snug when you slide the USB home (2) if you look at the photo, the cable takes a pretty quick turn out of the unit and touches the floor which in itself pushes up on the cable to keep it pushed in and (3) I zip tied the new cable to the old so it cannot move... take all these together and that thing is solid.

all kinds of DVD headrest topics on this forum. BUT, do not recall anyone stating the size similarity. but the bigger question is, color/style match from an 07 to an 09? that would be my big question. search around here and you will see options much cheaper than dealer with more ability and designed to color match better, so not likely a need to get an 07 escape when you can get something more matching and current.. there was a really great one recently in last few weeks with a discount offer, use search I am sure it will come up.

I looked at that weapon CAI a while back, even called them.. but it is not really a "CAI" as it does not to keep the temp of the air coming into the inlet cooler than engine bay temp. no box like a true CAI to separate the air around the inlet from hot engine air. whereas the Steeda CAI does.

sorry.. have no clue.. not even sure, unless you are a tint expert, how you could guess for sure what your Photochop tint is close to, but I sure can't... I CAN tell you, it is not 20% looking as 20% looking is pretty darn close to stock and that is clearly much lighter.
-
best stock match is 20% if you want to match rest of the vehicles stock 'tint'.. search tint here and you can see many photos of it... 35% might look a bit off & disjointed IF you seek a good match.. if not, well...

Here you go... here is the APIM Sync box with the "User Device" USB2 and USB (stock) ports labeled. located in center console at the back at floor level accessed from passenger seat by panel removal. I got a 6 ft USB Mini B cable and that is perfect length to run cable down drivers side of center console and up into the glove box hidden under center console trim. Mini B fit snug and perfect. I will then add a F2F adaptor at other end so I can use my stock iPod USB cable and have a second USB2 "User Device" for a passenger if they bring an iPod along. $7 mod in cables/adaptors. Plan to come up with some trick way to bring it into the glove box, maybe a flush mount at the bottom or side of the glove box like I did my custom glove box LED light and kind of like what is already in our center console.

if you use search here, there are some threads on it.. here is one

yes, I believed it could work from what I read over at SMR.. the big question is/was where is the module? so, I will look today to see if I can find it in the Edge in the center console and see what I have for cables. NOTE: found the Sync APIM module and it is in fact at the back of the rear console. I just did not notice it when I was working in that area before. there are 2 USB ports (of that smaller type MINI B port it looks to me) clearly the spare is used by the factory or dealer to work on the Sync APIM module and not really meant for us to do this... but I am going to do it anyway. As for cables, I just eBay'd a 6 foot USB 2.0 A to Mini-B Cable + a USB Female to female Gender Changer Adapter - this should allow one to plug the 6 foot mini b cable into the Sync module, run that to wherever, attach the F2F adaptor onto that cable male end so that you can then hook the needed USB cable for your iPod (about 3 ft) and that would give me about 9 ft or enough to run to the glove box.
