same issue here... but in my case it is more like memory seats via key FOB just stop working and need to be reprogrammed. memory 1 and 2 always work, but activating via key FOB comes and goes

bunk link... looks like you trying to link to a topic here, which already do exist on bumper protection, but not sure why a new topic was started

best use the search and search the topic, it has been discussed recently... and it is a big question with levels of complexity.. but the bottom like is. that you will have issues

Answeres for all Audio/Video questions
Lex Talionis replied to Vfords's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Oh man.. you just opened a can of worms we see so many after market Ford nav install, 2009 nav in 2007/2008's, after market Ford sirius install, sync installs when using different navs, etc. etc, questions here.. heck, do a search on these topics and you will see yourself -
yes, I have now read mixed opinions on it as a DIY - and that is only because you need that spring compressor. rentable at many auto supply places, but it seems very hit and miss with people in getting it to work correctly (of course, vehicle dependent results). I also read the rears are way easier to do than the fronts. buddy also told me a computer 4 wheel align is pretty much a must do after such a mod. care to explain.. or are you saying you "WILL have problems" if you do not do an align afterwards? the H&R kit is over 1", but seems many people use them "problem" free so not sure what you are referencing?
-
On this topic, I am curious... 1. after you do this, is an alignment a MUST do? 2. it appears this is a total DIY project, yes?

I stand corrected. I have had my center console off many, many times for various projects and was using recollection that the aluminum piece was permanently attached to the full console unit, but it seems not so. I would say Mikecl2 has his fix right here right now

Rear Bumper protector
Lex Talionis replied to Kanatronic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I have not seen anyone do what you ask here about using a different brand bumper protector on the Edge. However, I recommended this option long ago in another of the bumper protector/cover threads as I also surmised another makers brand might fit - but not seen anyone find one yet that fits. -
eBay is where I would start. people sell parted out Edge parts like that all the time. BUT the bummer is, that center console is all 1 big unit and contains all of the controls for the info system, climate control, etc.. so do not think you can just buy that separate aluminum insert unless you went right to Ford assuming you could even separate it from the rest of the console which I am not sure you can as when you pull on that, it will remove the entire center console (I know as I have removed mine a dozen times).

getting an aftermarket or trying to get them to put in a stock unit, well, your call. personally, I had to have mine integrated as I cannot tolerate wires, so I got the stock head unit with sirius installed. BUT, if you search here on installing the stock nav/sirius head unit, you will see its got its own issues not worth covering here as they have been covered before. also, getting your "wires" - which is like (1) the antenna wire and (2) a power wire maybe run to the fuse box and (3) an aux in line - UNLESS you used a built in FM transmitter are all pretty easy things to acquire. there are certainly car kits you can buy to do this all and I would be shocked if you could not track them down for your old unit off places like TSS Radio, eBay, etc. So, those "wires" you speak of are generally pretty basic things on external after market kits. these radios are so cheap, if it were me, I would buy the newest smallest unit with Replay feature IF I went the route of getting after market kit and either buy the car kit (car antenna, car power cord, bracket) and install myself or pro install at a shop. USB allows you to charge AND connect your iPod at the same time. That is how you best access your iPod! why even consider the aux line input? it wold also allow you to use a simple thumb drive full of mp3 songs if you do not have an iPod or USB type mp3 player. it also allows you to do self upgrades to the Sync unit... which you do not have to worry about. "I think that I really screwed up purchasing an Edge without Sync and Sirius. The "premium"6 disc changer is useless to me as I haven't used cd's in years." - yes, we would agree there. all the things it sounds like you want you would have had in one nice clean unit. BTW, most all of these questions are answered here already if you use search function - you will get more in depth data than I provided

Anyone annoyed by loud turn signals
Lex Talionis replied to jayone48's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
never found it to be an issue... and I also despise people that do not use turn signals.. lazy -
there is more on satellite than just "music"... there are actual talk shows that talk the way real grown up adults talk... not censored lame fake hyped up "zoo" style FM DJs do.

Edge Modification Links/Assistance
Lex Talionis replied to chugger93's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
just search these forums... they are FULL of mods like what you seek: LED lights all around, HID lighting, floor mats... it has all been covered here -
Thought I would finish this off with some photos of the cable install I did in the glove box. Pretty nice, huh? Looks professional. I found a spare rubber plug from who knows what, drilled a hole in it and then dremeled a long oval hole at the top of the glove box where that little ledge is and ran the iPod USB cable through that. As you can see, looks pretty clean and like it came from the factory this way. I can place an ipod on that ledge or pull enough cable to set it down in the glove box if I want. (yes, that is a custom 1-of-a-kind mod LED light in the glove box)

yeah.. you don't want to do this (1) no need as per the safety glass (2) unless you know how, installing tint is a and will look totally ghetto if not done right

must have been a slow night in the midwest and the cows were already sleeping so no cow-tipping so decided to go bombing thru a cornfield and bit off more than he expected.. 2 words... shovel, pick-axe

Integrated turn signals in side mirrors
Lex Talionis replied to MustangMike's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
a kit can be installed on existing mirrors. search here, I am positive a loooong while back someone here installed an LED arrow kit that was after-market onto their existing mirrors. I am pretty sure the post even had photos. -
disturbing stuff.. never heard of this on the BAMR until this thread. if someone would not have chimed in that it happened to them, I would have called shenanigans. How do you get enough body flex to crack your roof just driving down the freeway??/

Longer OEM antenna for Ford Edge
Lex Talionis replied to Kanatronic's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Maybe it was paying Oprah and martha stewart massive money for their names, as they have proven they do not bring in subscribers, as they certainly add no content since they really never appear on their own shows - Oprah was a HUGE bust. at least with howard stern and is 500 million, certainly to much payout no doubt, he has proven to bring in subscribers and have fresh content. Oh... and I think putting satellites in space is pretty costly. but no doubt it is a bloated company. -
yeah.. no Sync, no USB port - that was what I was insinuating. Griffin is a very well known name and makes great products. Also, look at their numerous iTrip line of products.

Unlocking Nav features when moving
Lex Talionis replied to blockisle9's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
well.. having been through this before when it came to adding a camera to our factory nav system, I can tell you, there was/is no 'simple' plug and play option to interface with our Pioneer units. Read more here. It looks like the 2009 are easier to work with, so their website makes it seem. So, I will be curious to see what they come up with for interface and 'plug n play' given they are totally different head units. -
well on all 2007/2008 it is in the center arm rest console. a USB and line in port right next to each other. BUT you may not have the Sync system in your 2009?
-
just curious.. why would you want to do it this way? what is the benefit over the USB which applies a charge?? but it seems if you really want to do it this way you would have your line in connection and just use a car lighter car charger for the ipod to apply the charge. simple as that, but not sure why when 1 simple USB input handles it all.

Unlocking Nav features when moving
Lex Talionis replied to blockisle9's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
this was a rather heated topic a bit back between those crying the safety issue and those of us feeling we are adult enough to handle the overwhelming task of the using the nav while moving. In just the last 2 weeks I have found the exact need to change an address or find business name while moving and as we know... NO DICE As you point out, seems this device is geared towards the 2009 as that is a 2009 nav system they show and they say "NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A SYNC SYSTEM THAT IS NOT HARD DRIVE BASED, WE HAVE A SOLUTION FOR YOU TOO!!" - which would be the 2007/2008's So I, for one, will be very curious to see what comes of your email. Please post up what you find when they email you and their price for a 2008/2007 device. I wouldn't pay that much for the ability to use the nav on the fly, but it also seems like this thing can do more than just that - i.e., add a backup camera option or run a DVD player in the nav window kind of like the video box I added months ago. THAT might make it worth the price of admission as theirs seems to unlock ability to do nav changes on the fly while mine just allows backup camera interface and video sources in similar price range.
