as far as I know, you will be the first here. several of us have expressed interest, but when it finally came out last month (1) the actual cost and (2) the fact to really get the benefits you must use a tune they claim or why do it (so see #1) and (3) they never posted nor responded with any performance numbers if you used the insert so as to not have to pop for and/or use a tune I think really made many shy away right now? I know I did. Just cannot afford that kind of coin and to be honest, not 100% interested in even starting to mess with tunes. The price if the CAI is not so bad really, but to get the great numbers they post you must use a tune (and thus have a tuner and those are not cheap). did you pop for the whole package? just the CAI and no tuner? or already have a tuner? post up photos and any install tips/issues.. but I do not think it will be a hard install at all.

New Exhaust Tips Photos
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
if you really did no prep work, I would not worry about fade 1 bit, I would worry about it peeling or flaking off or coming off with minor road debris. if you seriously just laid down and started painting, there can be a ton of debris under the paint that can lead to the paint coming off. contamination and an unclean surface make for a very bad mix when painting. at a minimum, light sanding to prep the surface and then clean and then paint. and, if you did not paint the entire thing, yes even the top (which would mean dropping the exhaust from the hangers, which is petty easy and I assume you guy just used the existing rubber grommets) then the top of the exhaust is exposed metal, which could mean rust or contamination, which can mean it works its way down under the half-a-paint job you did. and, on the bottom of a car with road debris and water and salt (if in snow) paint prep would have been pretty important step... but to late now as for the tips.. IIRC, the SEL had some basic steel tips while the Limited had something like "chrome rolled" steel tips?? but can't recall for sure. -
Answeres for all Audio/Video questions
Lex Talionis replied to Vfords's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
well as a simple answer.. no I would say. the simple fact that the newer 09 nav's do have the additional "i" information button (did you see that) our 07/08's do not would preclude you from accessing those extra features. believe me, I would love to have them... but those features also require hardware we just do not have as talked about in other threads -

I like the black paint, looks really good... now lets hope it holds up over time keep us informed as I will be curious to see. did you do some good prep work before painting? as for the tips, hmmm.. I like the stock ones off my Limited a bit better (which I 'think' are different than the SEL). the more elongated oval of these versus the taller circle of the facie cutout bothers my eye - bit of a gap at the top -
I can tell you this, maybe it helps and maybe not, but I painted some headers on my FJ40 and the high heat auto paint came off in a few weeks. maybe I did not prep the headers well enough and maybe, though the manufacturer said not, the headers were too hot for the paint. yes, I am well aware that the headers would be much hotter than a catback/muffler/last bit of exhaust tubing down the line you would want to paint black & will not reach the temps of a set of headers, but just an FYI. Upon more research at the time, I found many people poo pooing success with high heat automotive paint. I would suggest IF you do it, do it ASAP upon exhaust install while the exhaust is clean and make sure to prep it well to accept the paint. if you do it, try to post up before and after photos as it would be cool to document how it goes.

911 Assist and Vehicle Health
Lex Talionis replied to barrydancer's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have been watching this unfold the past week or so over on SMR and wondered if anyone here had done it yet. Did they charge you as their test subject? if not, did they give you an idea of what they were going to charge as rates seem to swing wildly. I figured I would wait until my next service and not make an appointment, but at the rate I drive, that would be a year away and my chick really likes the safety idea of the 911 function. -
What exactly do I need ?

your correct and incorrect.. the forum does exist for questions, but also has the answers already in many cases... why ask people to filter through what you can do yourself but admit you do not want to? everyone else did. you did not ask a new question, you were just simply lazy and asked someone to do your work for you. but heck, the heavy lifting was already done for you. "Anyone who posts a question, you tell them to do a search." - poppy cock. IF you are honest about it, you will see that I kindly suggest they use the Search function and then 9 of 10 times, if I can recall exactly where it is at, will provide at least 1 link to get them started. I am hardly a Troll.. and couldn't care less about post count, take them all to 0 for all I care, I just love the car and modding it and learning about it, but I do admit I get agitated by a person that blatantly admits he knows where the answer is but doesn't want to take the time to read for the answer and would rather someone do it for him.. -

Lex Talionis replied to BlazedUp's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
so wait..... you want us to do all the work and figure it all out and write it all up the first time around, then you do not want to read that and figure it out, but then you want someone to further write YOU up specific directions and notes just for you because you do not want to take your time read through a thread that explains everything you need to do... yeah, right everyone else who did the mod seems to be able to follow that thread. btw, there was no 'pissing' contest about wire color. it is more a matter of (1) some wire colors change whether you are 2007/2008 and (2) you can tap into more than 1 wire to get the power so the wires you choose could be different colors - but if you read it that would be clear finally "Why waste your time typing a response when you didn't answer my question. " - because I find it incredibly rude that everything you need is already in place, but you cannot take your time to figure it out and yet want us to spend our time to rewrite out specific directions and list if parts just for you. read the thread, it is all there.. heck, there is even a guy that will sell you some of the parts premade - perfect just for you -
yep, there is a book and the book will tell you while in a call go to the phone screen and there is a privacy or private button (can't recall what exactly it is called but I recall it is in lower left corner) on your screen and that will take it off sync and send to the cell phone only... yes, yes.. I certainly know there is no dial tone on a cell phone, but that was the best way to describe it.

image now seems to be broken. I would be curious to see this.

sorry then bro.. if you do not have time to read the thread that tells you everything you need your out of luck. not trying to be rude, but why sit here and start a new thread and rewrite everything that has been covered already -
gotta love that color please post up a photo JUST like the one above AFTER you install the H&R springs as I will be very curious what it looks like. And, report back the ride changes if you would be so kind. thanks!

knocked one off while cleaning one time, I siliconed mine on that day

well of course.. same location

so wait.. a rubber product that is designed specifically to interact and come in constant and long term contact with water, can get moldy.. because of water. isn't that like a boat made of paper.

that Navteq link is also in post #1, but yeah, it is now nearing 1 year from the 7p release (May) and I have seen no mention of an 8p here or on the web anywhere. Also, I do wonder if Ford will request an 8p even be made since their newest line of vehicles uses a totally different nav system/setup. I talked to the Navteq people a year ago and they told me they only make a new DVD when the car company requests it be made, not just on their on volition, they have to be asked. So, I wonder if Ford will even ask for another update be made for them given they no longer use that system.

I do not have that, but what I do have, oddly, is that I can hear a phone dial tone ever so slight. If I turn the volume down all the way on the head unit (full nav/sync model), you can faintly hear a dial tone for a phone through the speakers. anyone else hear this? just so happens, I even tested it last night thinking if I cut off the bluetooth connection to my phone, it would shut the sound down as I was thinking it must be tied to that. but no dice. I can slightly hear it with with something playing on the head unit when volume is low, but can clearly hear it if I turn volume all the way down. yes, it could be some sort of distortion from wires or feedback or bad ground, but it so clearly sounds like a dial tone and never changes tone or goes away.

I would say that since Navteq does not show it, not likely..

Class II Ford Edge hitch rattle
Lex Talionis replied to jlkansascity's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
you know the fix I was contemplating, as mine rattles like crazy, was to have 2 beads welded about 1.5" apart onto the top of the hitch accessory (bike mount in my case) and then slowly grind it down until I get a snug fit. this way, no "devices" to have to take on and off as I do not have my bike rack on all the time, and the 'fix' is part of the actual rack now. slide it in and snug fit as the ground down welds will take up the slop/space. I have been wanting 1 of these but they have NEVER sold them -
Added Ford/Pioneer NAV to '08 EDGE
Lex Talionis replied to HDedge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
that's pretty lame.. seek help here, find it elsewhere, then won't let anyone in on it here, but flaunt it to the others.. why even post up you got it squared away if you do not plan to share it? what's the big secret for God's sake? -
Backup camera with Factory NAV?

you can get it to work.. I did it... read all about it here it is not an install for the faint of heart, but 100% doable. -
Rear Bumper protector
Lex Talionis replied to Kanatronic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
one of the first versions sold here by ALS was "a bit more elaborate" than than the eBay model. I have one, see my gallery, and it is very similar to what you link to with nice highly raised "bumps". it was actually molded/produced for the Edge and not "a piece of rubber mat cut to the size and shape" - either way, something is better than nada and I am glad I have mine -
hmm.. I did not realize this myself nor ever read it in the manual or anywhere else. I merely assumed, wrongly I guess but logically in my mind, that once a key FOB was programmed to say #1 it stayed programmed to seat #1 even if I changed position of seat #1 and saved it to memory. since the programing sequence to get buttons 1 and 2 to remember positions is not the same as programming the FOB to recall positions, it never occurred to me that adjusting memory for just seats would adversely effect the FOB program. I think this fact totally explains my issue away. thanks.
