"corrosion of the outer aluminum rim" or is it "corrosion of the outer chrome clad rim"? have read/seen tons about the chrome clads, but not the aluminum.. like mine, the "premium painted aluminum" for example also, pretty sure you can use stick on weights with really any rim, no? who the heck wants those nasty clip on anyway.. I have stick on on my actual truly full aluminum Ford rim

not sure why you keep saying that, but hey.... looks like HID has nothing to do with the issue in either of these cases.. getting warranty with HID is a non-issue, 20 minutes to put in, 20 minutes to take out to get back to stock

Lowering Springs?
Lex Talionis replied to bluesplash94's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
do not have them personally, but FWIW I think you will find most installed here on Edges are installing H/R & really liking & recommending them, but I have heard fantastic things about EiBach brand from other buddies that have them. -
any photos? very curious to see the install and the 'slight' bends.
-
grind the hood? no way.. clearly, you grind the air box the marks on the inside hood would show what to grind on the air box - it would show the high spots on the air box.
-
you know, I do not remember what it was called, but there was another seat/interior option available at the time of Edge purchase.. but what you have is not that as I think the Edge ones had different color piping and did not have "Edge" stitched in. IIRC, another guy here had custom seats stitched up on the original seat frames with high quality leather and "Edge" stitched in also... I suspect you have something similar here, something custom. As for the DVD players, those are very common, tons of those floating around both stock and after-market. they look like just another 'chrome clad' offering... and we all know what happens in time with the chrome clads
-
well yeah, that goes without saying... BUT if you must have it and want it, a 2.5 hour install and then another 1.5 to get it out + cost and time effort to ship it back, versus 30 minutes grinding.. you decide either way.. seems like Steeda, for all their time and delay, released a half baked product.

personally, I think there is an equal or greater chance of your stand alone cell phone surviving than a built & wired in onstar system. so this would not even be a worry to be. yes, your cell phone must be paired and on of course. but why would it not be while in the car? but yes, this is a phone system that relies on your phone. but heck, better than nothing and glad they made it happen.

first off.. that is an awesome thread title second, nice ground effects kit. looks sharp. now, just put some 20% tint on those front windows to tie it all together. last, I like those hood bug shields more and more I see them. not sure if I would ever get one, but it has appeal to me in a way. (do not believe they do a damn thing though)

for $50, I would do it for sure. you can read all about it at http://www.syncmyride.com - I plan to do it, a few here have, many have over at the link I posted here this link will drop you right into the most popular thread there on this very topic

Home Autodry Car Wash Systems?
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
so absolutely cannot recommend this product. I am less than impressed with results. followed exact key directions (shade, do car in parts, etc) - and still get lots streaking, uneven drying, water spots, etc. -
I agree with much of what you have said. even their online photo shows a nicer MAF sensor (I believe that is what that is that sticks out the top of the plastic tube) than what he received. As for the air box height, I would grease up the edges and close the hood and see just where grease marks are so show where it strikes on your hood. this way, you can see where the high spots in the air box are and maybe grind down in just that area. And for the rubber trim, I have yards of that stuff al over my FJ40 and it is stiff, you could also use a heat gun on it.

if you read their site, they have 2 versions.. the one that takes a tune and this one, which uses a sleeve to reduce airflow so no tune needed. they have never posted nor responded to emails inquiring about any performance numbers for the non-tune version seen here.
-
yeah, I admit, less impressed than I had hoped. not really digging all of the cheap feeling hose clamps either. not sure what I expected, but not that for sure - something a bit more refined in appearance.

Fisrt I have to say that when I opened the box I was expecting a better looking unit. But enough about that.- huh? come on, you can't do that, speak on it. It seems pretty clear from the rest of the post your not very impressed with the fitment. I went to close the hood and the unit is so tight I had to push down with some effort to close the hood. - be careful, do not want to crease the hood. can you alter the air box - like grind some down and put the rubber seal back on? this thread NEEDS photos I am probably more excited to see them then you sound about the product and, please post up over time about anything you clearly notice about performance, mileage, blah blah blah

huh??? (1) not even what we are talking about here as main topic and (2) what the heck are you even talking about HID is garbage.. where does that comment even come from and can you be any more vague?? look around here and the web in large as electronic ballast HID kits are pretty proven with results confirmed & enjoyed by thousands oh BTW.. the more I am reading about LED bulbs - what we are talking about here as main topic - is that they are just a no go. Even well known and respected light manufacturer PIAA made an LED syle bulb and it just does not get high marks or reviews. So I hold little hope for this off brand model seen on eBay and other sites on the web.

would this just not prove you have not actually had to call upon the ESC capability yet? are you assuming just because the conditions could cause an ESC event that it should when in fact, your driving in those conditions has not triggered it to happen? plus, since the event may be so short and quick, and you are likely focused when it does happen, would one even notice it while trying to drive?

New Chrome Door Handles for 08 Edge SEL
Lex Talionis replied to chardylo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
too bad they do not make it an option to get 2 passenger (rather than the driver) handles so you can cover the key hole.. I mean who the heck even uses the key hole.. I have a plug over mine. -
you know me & disclaimers... not worried 1 iota about any DOT, law, legality, regulation relative to this product for example, I use HID and will use them all day long and recommend them every chance I get. Now, disclaimers out of the way, with these LED bulbs, the verdict is still out. I totally get all the points about how placement of bulb, and thus potentially type of bulb, relative to the reflector design it was designed to use, can have effects on light output, dispersal, range, cutoff, etc... BUT until they are actually tried in ones actual car, I am not on board yet that for high beams they may be a bogus deal for the above reasons. putting them in and snapping some photos will really tell the tail what you will get as the theory is in place that explains why it should not work to well, but that does not always apply to real world results which may be totally acceptable. I am very tempted, but I am trying to do more research on the web at other car sites where these seem to have already been found by others prior to us here. The bigger issue I have read thus far is quality control and the LEDs burning out well ahead of lifespan. "I don't know, there's something funny about these bulbs." - yes, I feel you. but I am also impressed by LEDs and all of the benefits I have seen them in applications I have used from camping to car to simple flashlight, this has me partially buying into the concept, but not 100% just yet.
-
hmm.. so despite Lexus and Audi using them, this eBay guy says "intended only for show car or off road use". not sure I follow this totally.. when looking at these for the high beams specifically on the Edge, since these units have full coverage LEDs on sides and front, and high beams have reflectors all around the inside of the light, I am not sure the issue on the filament? both filament and LED put light out 365 degrees and at the tip, and it all bounces off the reflectors, so why the light coming from a filament versus this LED would matter, I do not follow. BTW, I would certainly be interested to see what someone like Todd from Retrosolutions.com would say about these - not in place of HID mind you - just from a lighting standpoint in car headlights (high beams specifically)
-
pretty interesting. it seems like a natural next extension of the LED movement. kind of surprised I have not seen them before. I do not want to get involved in a debate of your merit as compared to HID as I am not knowledgeable enough but what I would do is I would consider buying these just for my high beams. the reason is I truly HATE the incandescent pee yellow of my high beams, love my HID low beams, but did not want to pop for a second set if HID for my high beams as I never use them and did not want the additional cost.. this might be the perfect go between (cost versus effort and results) so thanks for the tip, I plan to investigate them more. item 280322312475 is for Edge 07/08 high beams Ford Edge 07 08 LED 9005 18 SMDs High Beam Light Bulb

before they said this "Testing has shown gains of up to 35hp and 27ft/lbs of torque at the wheels when running this system without the insert using a custom tune" they use to say that you "must run a tune" with their CAI or could damage the engine. then, it seems, after the fact, they added that 'sleeve'. you should read the other thread on Steeda here as they were pretty clear about the minimal to no benefit they believed from a CAI unless you did a tune, so I, for one, was rather surprised when they amended their product offering and added that "sleeve" option. I suspect it was the fact it is a very hard sell - nearly $700 - to do the whole package whereas just the CAI is not overly pricey so they made the decision to do the sleeve... but have not responded to any inquires about numbers for their CAI without a tune. nevertheless.. I am excited to hear what you have to say for (1) quality (2) ease of install and of course (3) any truly 'noticeable' benefits. be sure to take note of your computers current average MPG to see if any changes there as any torque or power changes will just have to be via feel obviously.

I forgot about this thread until it now resurfaced... but for the record, I am having the issue also. the blue is peeling in places I noticed it a bit back & damn if I forgot to tell the dealer when I was in for my first service recently. well, I will tell them next time or maybe it I go in for the 911 upgrade.
