yes, I know... did it first week it was out yep.. hence the 911/HVR dealer requirement yep, I know... lagging on that one since dealers wants $50, which I will pay, BUT I do not intend to make an appointment just for that 1 install given going to the dealer requires advanced planing, a plan of action and some deep breathing preparation huh? your saying them doing 1.2 for example was better then me doing 1.2... I don't think so. Not to mention, they did not even know how to do 1.2 when it did come on line. Same with the 911/HVR.. read the SMR websites (911 Assist & Vehicle Health Report) topic, many dealers did/do not even know about the 911 install, do not have equipment to do it, nor can even do it if they do as there seems to be no real prep or process instituted by Ford to get dealers up to speed. heck, mine quoted me $50 but it was so obviously clear they had no idea what the HVR/911 update even was and only found out after having to call me back so they could find out WTH I was talking about. well.. now that we have totally hijacked VaporSilver's thread it does seem, given your TSB - which, thanks to websites like this one can find out about and go armed to the dealer with some information on the problem - it might be that VaporSilver does actually have to 'gulp' visit the dealer
-
yeah, you could go spend $50-100 to have the dealer install the Sync 1.2 update.... or do it yourself.... FREE I do agree about building relationships with a dealer. I personally do have one and only go to 1 dealer, but that is when I 'need' to go. But it is kind of funny what you said about developing a relationship with a service advisor.. at my dealer I have tried to do that, to bad they are on their 3rd advisor

I will concur that they did a totally whacky setup by giving us 2 assemblies that point to the right (I guess it saves money over making a left and right specific assembly that angles the light), so yes, an exacto or dremmel adjustment and you can mod the assembly to turn the passengers side to face they way it 'should'

yeah BUT sometimes I can - and have - 'fixed' stuff the dealer is clueless about, sometimes they cannot even 'fix' issues, and sometimes things you 'thought' were dealer visit worthy were as simple as changing a fuse - but you only ever know thanks to tips here... the dealers are not ever my first line of help, given what I see, what I know, they are 2-3 down the list. I would come to this forum any day first, gather data, then maybe go to a dealer. period. If I would have taken the car to the dealer for every little issue I had, other than sourcing out possible reasons and fixes here, geez.. I would spend a lot more time there than I care to imagine only to have found out, a day or two later with no car to use and a real hassle trying to work out logistics, it was an easy self fix.

yeah BUT... we do not know just yet IF it is "a problem that's covered by the factory warranty", we cant know that until he trys a few solutions offered by people, why just default to the dealer option and not try a few fixes first before "going to the dealer". People have solved, and gotten answers, to tougher issues here than this that precluded any need to go to a dealer where you thought you might have to - which we all know is more times than not (1) a PITA (2) takes a full day or more commitment and effort and (3) no guarantee they can even fix it. anyway... have you tried pulling fuses and checking them, you can also try cleaning the usb port (maybe with compressed air), also if you search here you will find a thread I did about adding a second USB device to the SYNC box which is located behind the center arm rest console. Point is, might pull that off and check the USB connection there as well. It will take 30 seconds for that check.

nice...now just swap for a stubby antenna, G2 paint (or buy) red rotors, tint those front 2 windows 20%

Aftermarket Chrome Exhaust Tips
Lex Talionis replied to KyEdge's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
if budget is small, have you checked a place like Pep Boys, I have seen tips there surprisingly. Or, maybe try Google or eBay for affordable tips. There are lots of options out there from affordable to pricey really. I have not looked to see if our factory tips are removable. Also, FYI, several people here have removed their stock exhaust and may have the tips you seek available to you. post up in the classifieds, you might get a response, or search for like Gibson exhaust and PM those they removed their stock systems. IIRC, some did it on the SEL and that would have the tips you seek. -
as I have come to expect in such a short time.. an antagonistic response - even worse, it was the most basic of low level responses "you could move".. uh, yeah, thanks not so easy when you have a home, business, family here

Californians - yep, thats me - will start feeling the pain of the recently negotiated state budget fix today, when a 1-cent increase in the state sales tax will force us to pay more for goods such as cars, furniture, laptops.... California's sales tax will rise to 6 percent, bringing the average local sales tax rate to almost 9 percent – one of the highest in the nation. Oh yes, it gets even better as we also have or will see an increase in personal income taxes (0.25 percent increase in the personal income tax rate in the 2009 and 2010 tax years ) and higher fees to license our vehicles (0.5 percent increase in fees to license vehicles from this May to July 1, 2011) What does this mean for Lex? further cut back in spending and when I need to spend, buy as much as possible off the net out of the state of CA. NO on Proposition 1A - or all of these "temporary" taxes get a nice little extension after their supposed end date in 2011..

sweet.. love to see people home fabricate stuff just 1 off.. so, did you make a very well place and slight slit in the rubber mat so it slides onto your mount so the lower bracket part is hidden by the rubber mat and up from under the rubber mat comes your bracket.. all seamless looking and still allowing for the rubber mat to be there

Hey thanks for the effort and response Larry. My big concern, I think similar to BlazedUp, is relative to point #4 above... which, from what I can tell, is NOT for this kit as this kit is the one with no tune & uses the insert while your provided chart is for the kit with a tune and no insert. Can you address that or provide data or a chart for what you have for this kit as I really think, giving finances, if more of us could find data on the sans tuner needed kit, we might go for it. Last, many of your points makes sense... but I admit, I still would expect more than plain jane hose clamps seen in the photos here. Which then begs the question, relative to #6, what then is that 1/2 beer can sized blue hose clamp 'thing' if it is not a resonator?

I registered several local changes in CA where I live with them before 7p came out when I was using 6p. all of them were on the 7p update in CA! I would bet they had them in the works already though as I can't imagine I could tell them new info on new completed roads they did not know about.

did you read this thread? details on curt install. There are a number of threads here on install, and the Curt one is pretty straight forward as many of us have installed it. but you will have to drill 2 extra holes as Curt provides a 6 bolt setup whereas most others only use the existing 4 bolt holes in the frame.

same here.. at the license plate. odd you got me there

as bbf2530 said, it requires dealer, can't be done by us with our own hacks or kits or voodoo... at least, never heard of it ever being done other than by going to dealer - and may people have posted up here about adding DRLs

guess you missed the sarcasm

boy you sure talk a big game... as though it really matters the weld in this situation that is hidden and only used to take up space and has no structural requirements... I could not care less if it was zig-zagged or a smiley face. if it takes up the right room, stops the slop, who cares. and BTW, yes, he does only have 1 eye
-
Finally, I got the weld trick done today thanks to a buddy. 2 beads, not very tall, as I just needed to take up the minor space. hand insert is very snug so I have good expectations. I am convinced the Curt hitch is not the culprit, but a foreign made bike hitch with a draw bar fit that is not spec (and it uses an ABS high impact plstic adaptor to take it from Class I to Class II) is the issue. the sway of my bikes was driving me crazy. So, here are some photos before I paint it up. I will find out if it works as I travel with the bikes this weekend and I will report back.

in sept I paid 74 free ship - which remind me, I still have a 6p sitting around to sell maybe a 4p person wants to upgrade but the 7p is to costly and does not even update their area... I can hook you up

seen it mo cheaper, got mine much cheaper than that off eBay months ago

heck no. never added resistors and have no intentions to do so at this time and also plan to always have LED bulbs in my Edge. Once you have them, you could never go back to incancesdents. I am not buying into the need to have them on internal lights. for turn signals, I agree 100% and I certainly would.. personally, I am more betting that the issue is just poor quality LED bulbs from China, as I have other bulbs the same age that seem to be fine, should they all not have died? I am no bulb guru, but find it hard to believe that you need resistors for ALL internal bulbs you change to LED and that the bulbs are damaged over time if not, like the seller was telling me. I think he just wanted me to buy resistors on top of all my bulbs and it was a bamboozling, but the reality is shabby LED bulbs. He explanation was weak at best to me, something along the lines of "I do not know why, but some cars just need resistors.. so you should buy the resistors" That is why I asked here if anyone else noticed issues - but it seems not and many of us have swapped our bulbs to LED and, except for turn signals, did not do resistors. long winded point? I would move forward with LED bulbs no doubt. pretty inexpensive mod with great returns, even if some go bad early given poor quality. The place I bought has like a 30 day warranty while I have seen others with 3-4 times that... but I admit his bulbs are cheaper in price and he is not far from me so I get them fast and he gives me a better deal, so maybe some bad bulbs is the cost of doing business with him.

have never seen a chip on the web or mentioned here for the Edge... but, there are tuner options (like SCT Xcalibrator 3) you could get and different tunes and load those up and likely get what you want.. plenty of those options
