911 Assist and Vehicle Health
Lex Talionis replied to barrydancer's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
just got it installed today... for free -
if you use the Search function, you will find a few threads on this here is just one
-
hmm.. never had it on my VW or Acura.. and if it is as common as you say, I have never seen it nor noticed it as badly on the Edge. it is blatant difference.
-
search around you will see many people reporting paint issues.. I even stated that mine is the worst paint job I have ever seen on a car - and I paid extra for my color! you can see in spots, hidden mind you, the primer (under hood and back in the boot area). I had a new hood installed since there was a spot with no paint and it was rusted. I can show you a dozens places with contamination under the paint on my car. you can also, as has been shown here, variation in paint color from the bumpers to the car.. ugh, this is by far my biggest complaint.

try these guys.. http://www.tss-radio.com/ BTW, the module is located in the rear of the Edge. back in the sidewall on the Subwoofer side IIRC.

Unique Coatings - New HID Product Rollout
Lex Talionis replied to cbrenn71's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
how about just selling ballasts separate for those that have HID already but experience issues & do not want to buy into a whole new kit.. is that an option? -
I will sell you my filter :yup:
-
if you pull it off, it will be cool and give those that do not have puddle lamps the opportunity to do a mod to get them. post up images for sure, and any tips hints (including wire colors you tied into) on your process.
-
search here for 'DVD headrests" as there are several threads on it and several places and models available to buy depending on price, functions you want, color match.. some are a few hundred, some are 1k or so. many threads here with photos also.

well, your neighbors 07 does not have LEDs, just incancesdents, so you will be 1 up on him with this mod second, I might be a little concerned about the height of those units you have. The bulbs that come in the Edge, and you can search here and see photos of their profile in the LED puddle lamp mod thread, are maybe half the height of what you have there from the sense I get of their height by looking at them. Well, I hope the motor unit and tilt unit of the back side of the mirror itself does not run into or get hung up on those taller screw thread post of yours. IF that proves to be an issue, as it is kind of a tight fit in there, you might have to thread on the nut, trim off a chunk of it as it looks like what you have there has a bit of material that could be cut off. Also, you are going to have to read up on some of the threads here concerning changing out the mirrors for the 2009 blind spot mirrors. The reason why is I bet you will have to remove the mirrors and such to get back into the unit to fiddle around and to tighten down that nut from the inside & fish wiring through and those blind spot mirror threads have photos and some pdf directions IIRC. Unless you plan to forgo the nut and just cut the hole and epoxy them on - but still, fishing the wire will be another reason to maybe have to get into those housings. alas, your correct about the power wire. I totally forgot that you will need to tap into the delay accessory wire that is only activated when you open or close the door. that being said, who knows, maybe those wires are there in the mirror harness (like the bulbs that are in the Edge BAMR Vista light control panels but not activated at the factory), but I doubt it. So, all the more reason you will have to fish wire into the car and thus, have to pull the mirror and unit apart for access. can you provide an eBay link to those lights? I could not find them using the wording - or any variation - you stated "led live baitwell lamps"

1 more thing you know what else is totally bogus about the whole 'health aspect' of a cabin air filter... it would have to be running all the time to be useful! (assuming it does even matter for sake of argument) which means at all times (day, night, hot, cold, summer, winter, rain, snow), every single time you are in the car, you must be running your climate system to call upon that 'filter'. who does this? would anyone here expect anyone to believe that not only do they actively work to always keep their windows or BAMR closed, but at all times - no matter what the conditions - they always run the climate system to have filtered air? NO WAY! the very moment you don't - and open any door or window - you are just sitting in "crap" air that was not filtered.
-
wait... your making you own puddle lamps because you did not get them in your model? like cutting a hole in your mirrors & rigging LEDs or buying the factory bulb and modding that in? or is there some after market dealo you found? I will be curious to see this mod and/or get a better explanation of what your doing. A couple of us here have done a mod to existing puddle lamps to swap them to LED - but it sounds like you do not even have them and are going to try to add them. anyway... why not tap the power into the power tilt/adjust feature wires that already run into the mirror? does yours have the heated mirrors (or was that only on higher up model) as you could tap into that also.
-
my man.. your 1 of a kind. I roll down the window and open the BAMR every single chance I get. fresh air rocks! I have never heard of someone actively avoiding it like you claim above. So do you have a BAMR or did you not get the BAMR for this reason? These cars are not air tight level 6 decontamination chambers. Heaven forbid a person ever opens their car doors and lets that contaminated air in. There are so many ways to fowl that "filtered" air it is not even funny. ANY dust you think those filters removes is magnitfide 10x over the first time you do roll down a window - yes roll down a window - or get in or out of the car or load the trunk and leave that open.. I mean, this is boarding on the absurd :shades: and the whole air filter versus oil filter.. I just cannot even go there I stand by what I said 100% about air filters in cars.. worthless at the end of the day. what they actually filter out is a joke in the scheme of things and if you think they are valuable, look at the model Edges that do not even have them. So valuable ehh that Ford left them out on 2nd tier models? Ha, it is a sales gimmick at the end of the day and hardly worth the fuss. Sure, you can pull them out and they are icky dirty and all that, but look at it in perspective to what you actually breath and it is just meaningless. I mean, I COULD wear a mask every day and at the end of 2 months it would also be brown - but so what, what do you expect and what does that really prove. Maybe you can ask K&N to make one uber cabin filter for ya :happy feet: :yup:

Stuck with Factory class II Hitch! Help!!!
Lex Talionis replied to crucian's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
yeah BUT you bought it after the fact and did not have it factory installed when the car was ordered with the tow package.. So you may have bought a Ford hitch from them, but it is an after-market hitch. IIRC the true factory delivered and installed hitches are welded on. Heck, there are people here - with photos - that have had them hacked off by shops to add 2" receivers.. if it was a bolt/on off - they would have just unbolted it. curios... why would you even buy a Ford 'factory' bolt on hitch that is not 2" when you kind of wanted 2" and you could have gotten a nice Curt 2" and bolted it on yourself and gotten what it seems you wanted.. and likely much cheaper? -
yep, your original question was fuse specific I agree, but often - very often - especially in electrical, there are numerous possibilities so you never know what lead to the issue & what details would/could be needed to help a person troubleshoot it - so more details the better, especially high level ones about what actually proceeded the issue - like an install of something. anyway.. fortunately, you guessed it was a fuse and you were right.. but it just as well could have been a bad ground along the way for example so a fuse question would not have mattered. in the end, it was likely a crossing of live power wires with a bad/no ground that fried that fuse - cheap fix
-
uhh... you don't think that is a pretty important piece to this puzzle for the initial question clearly, you knocked a wire lose, clipped a wrong wire, bumped a harness, messed up a ground, etc - something from your install.. just backtrack your install also, on a side note, under the hood are larger fuses in a fuse box on drivers side top of engine near windshield - you might check those over as well and see what the manual says each does as one might have fried as I had it happen 1 time and it knocked out some random items
-
sorry.. not buying into that logic at all.. the 2 do not even equate. we breath this air all the time, driving down the road with the windows open, with the BAMR open, when not in the car.. good lord, in the scheme of things, that filter doesn't really amount to much at the end of the day. Hell, most cars do not even have such a filter and never needed a cabin air filter before in cars - it doesn't really matter now either and it will not make 1 single difference in life or health at the end of the day. Nor does it do anything for the car. However, the filter on actual engine oil or fuel filter can keep you car from being seriously damaged - and so it does matter.
-
yeah, that pretty much what I said in both posts.. nevertheless, they could have made the inner door panel higher by 1 inch and covered it. outta sight, outta mind
-
Looking at building up a 2nd tactical AR... looking at a 6061 billet milled OLL stripped lower receiver to start this build... considering this beauty
-
this is exactly was I was eluding to in my post.. so much faster/easier. I assume this is all home depot junk? so let me ask... what did you get out of it? just the sound? you like? if you can do this with no negative effect on performance or damage, why does the 'resonator' even exist.. does that massive ugly plastic piece make that much of a sound difference - or really do very little in the end?
-
interesting.. what even made you think to do this? and it is just for the sound? but I wonder.. if you essentially just took off the resonator, cut it open, plugged the holes and glued it all back together and reinstalled... why did you not just take it off and simply plug the 2 holes at the intake tube and stop there?

how about some photos AFTER the fact?

DashMat Brand Dash Cover
Lex Talionis replied to dadrett's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
or how about just a window sun shade when the car is parked or sitting.. then, you get protection AND get to see the dash you are protecting not a funky 70's rug on your dash.. dice from the rearview anyone? -
cleaning is easy enough.. just should not even have to do it. and I always forget until after the car is washed and dialed in and then I get in and I am like .. DAMNNNNN that again while walking the dog a few days back, I started to look into car doors and I did not see 1 single design that allowed you to even see those nylon lint trap scrubbers. on all the cars, the inner door molded plastic was up higher than and covered them, so you would never even see them.
